I had these tires on my Tahoe for years and now on my Tundra for the last couple of years. Makes it feel like you are floating compared to most other tires and also ride much quieter. I like the look of the lifted truck with the sportier tires too, but if you drive a lot, especially in the city, you can’t beat the comfort and quiet of the Michelin. And if you rotate them properly they will last the full 70k. I use the black wall side. Great video!

Just installed the Michilin Defender LTX M/S 235 65 R17 on my Chrysler Voyager Lxi Van. This is the same vehicle as the Chrysler Pacifica. I can not say enough good things about these tires. I have much better control & confidence when driving at the higher speeds that are now posted at 80 MPH in my state. Everything I have read are true. Very quite, smooth, & traction are all there when traveling on all types of roads. These Chrysler vans are longer than normal, and these tires really add to the stability and positive steering that every driver loves. With that said, comfort and ride quality are still excellent. Michilin are slightly more expensive, but you will make up the difference in how long these tires will last. Thanks again for the great review.

Michelin Fan: Many years ago, and before leaving our summer jobs in Montana we purchased 4 new B-------e tires at Costco for our Ram. Steering the Ram at highway speeds while towing the 5th-wheel home was a nightmare and these tires were pressured via inflation/load table. 28 days later while shopping at Costco I complained about those tires and shortly thereafter and at a total cost of $14.00 we were riding on a fantastic new set of Michelin tires. This years before towing with our new Ram, we replaced the factory supplied tires and are now comfortably riding on Michelin.

My use case is similar to yours, I struggled with the price over or tires that I was considering but ultimately ordered these from my local America's tire. I was jokingly complaining about the cost of the tires to the guy writing up the work order, he said 4 guys that work there have them on their trucks and took me outside to show me. Hands down the best tire I've had, well worth the price which really amounted to a cup of coffee per month over the estimated 6 years of my driving. Great review.

I bought these tires when they first came out around 6 years ago. I think they'll age out before I get them worn down to 2/32", I think I have 6/32" left or so at 56k miles. Every time I get into another car, I hear the tire noise and am reminded of how smooth and silky the defenders are. They absorb bumps so well after all these years. Fuel economy is good. I've used them off road and every time it snows. I had all-terrains for the last 2 sets of tires before this and a set of all-seasons before that and I don't think I'll be going back to ATs. I am interested in the new Defender LTX M/S 2 tires that recently come out, to these tires to see how they compare. They don't have it out in my size yet, but if they do I'll definitely be interested to see if they are quieter and absorb bumps as well. They claim to work better with today's heavier vehicles, so I'm a little concerned they'll be stiffer on my old "lightweight" 30 year old vehicle But the 'piano' tuning sounds like it might be promising.

First set was mandated on an 06 Explorer. Great universal tread in Texas then moved to Wisconsin and they really shined. With 50k miles they held ice and snow great. Since then every company vehicle has had these as have my personal Expedition, Escape, F150, and Subaru Ouback. I'm preparing to install a 2nd set on my F150 after 60k miles at the end of summer. They're down to 6/32s at 60k miles and still holding the road in ice and snow.

Bought a new set of Falken Wildpeak At3's for my '19 f250 to replace the worn factory duratracs. Traction was amazing and was much beefier block pattern. However, once the snow went away and experienced faster highway speeds I had vibration in the front end. I could also tell I lost about 1 mpg and it was louder going down the road. After a few hundred miles I bought a set of Defender LTX m/s and put them on this morning. Wow. What a difference. Immediately smooth as glass. I gained about 3 mpg back and they are nice and quiet. I can tell they are not going to grip anywhere near the Wildpeaks in the rare muddy situations I get into but I since that makes up about 2% of my overall driving I am content.

I'm a Michelin A/T2 fan. I have used two sets so far, one that came with my 2007 Honda Ridgeline and then purchased another set. The first set got about 85,000 km, but still had about 25% tread left. The second set has gotten me about 110,000 km, so far and has about 15% tread left. They were made in 2012, so I'll replace them soon. These tires have been EXCELLENT in all aspects. It is like cheating in the winter. I live in AB. Canada and have 4 to 6 months of snow. Though they may be overkill for the 85% on road driving I do, it is nice to know that I can go down gravel roads and off road with ease and safety! I believe I'll go for the same tires again, though I am thinking of the LTX M/S2 tires.

@@GarageGear I was running the factory Goodyear Wrangler SRA. I road those right down to 3/32” and they were no longer safe in the rain. The Michelin ride is really nice. I took full advantage of all the discounts that were offered at the time of purchase. I’m very happy with my new tires. The one major factor in my decision over the Cooper tires, I know first hand Michelin will stand behind the mileage warranty. My wife’s 2016 Toyota Sienna came with Michelin Primacy from factory. At last visit to dealer,30k miles, they told her she’d need tires before winter (she barely drives it). I couldn’t believe how fast they work out in such low miles. No questions other than rotation records from dealer and they prorated and replaced the tires with a nice discount. I put Defender ltx on my Yukon XL and on my Ram 1500 and they are awesome, and arguably the best road tire you can get for light trucks. I also put a set of the LTX AT2 on a Ford Super Duty 2500, those suffered faster tread wear but the truck was almost 2000 lbs heavier than my Ram. Those LTX LT2 were a beast in the snow! They were no different, nor worse driving in a foot of snow than a light rain. The only negative thing I can say about the ATX is that they (are not horribly bad but) definitely have a noticeable amount of road noise.

I, like you, live in the BFLO area, and when replacing the tires on my Ram 1500 did all the same homework. Based off of previous experience and feedback from the tire reps I deal with opted to purchase a set of the Firestone Destination AT2. I had the original AT on my old Ranger many years ago, around the time of that October storm that left us with over 2 feet of wet heavy snow, tree limbs down, and no power for a week. They were awesome! Quiet, smooth, and impressive in rain and snow. During that storm i even got around just fine while mostly still in 2WD. Like the original ATs, the AT2 is quiet, smooth-riding, excellent in wet weather, and very good in snow. The only area I seem to perhaps notice what might be some drop-off from the originals is ice, but then I'm not testing them on the same truck I originally had my first set on either. They're a heck of a lot better though, and I don't need to use 4WD to back up the apron of my driveway in 2" of snow, like I did with what I took off. For those wanting a tire with a more aggressive tread without the noise or compromise in fuel economy, the Firestones are an excellent choice. And I am still averaging the same 17 mpg(mostly stop-and-go) I was averaging on "highway" all-seasons, and maybe a couple tenths better, too. I've also worked in the automotive field most my life, I will add you're not likely to go wrong with those Michelins, they're a great brand, you're likely going to have to pay more for them most of the time. That said, you're also likely to get that money back. BTW, I'm old school, white letters out!

I choked a little bit when I first saw the price, but after hearing what you and many others have to say. I believe the defenders are amazing tires. Snow rated for crazy midwest weathers, good traction dry and wet, good enough off road (we have a lot of dirt roads), long lasting and improve gas mileage! What's not to like?! Nokian One is a grat tire, Pirelli Scorpions are great, Cooper Discoverer(over priced as well) are great, Starfire Solarus...all are very good tires, but very few are over $320. The price of a beatup car that can take you places for at least a few years, LOL. about $1300 plus tax for tires??!! Then mount for about 20 more each...LOL. They are great tires, but ffs, they are not that good. Its like ordering great sushi for $7 and getting very similar sushi for $15 because they put gold flake on it. Screw that noise. BTW, I think you should have a log of your tire tread wear, and see how they do over time. And NO ONE can claim they remember how their tires were when new compared to 20 or more K miles later. What you can do is take some measurements. You can drive on the same roads with a sound meter and record the level they generate at different speeds recorded. You can also do some basic traction tests and record.

I have these on my 2016 Ram Big Horn and they have been good. Just "good" though. They are quiet but I'd never know the difference unless I had my radio off (which is hardly ever). Smooth but doesn't feel very solid - feels floaty. Rain traction has not been all that great for me, at least not compared to the Cooper Discoverer AT3s I was using before. I haven't used these much in snow this year since work let me stay home when it snowed most times. I really put the Discoverer AT3s to the test in some deep snow and ice for years and they were amazing. These Defenders also give my truck a look I'm not liking - though they aren't actually super cheap they look more like I cheaped out and stuck minivan tires on a 4x4... (I didn't choose these, they were on here when I got it). Looking to put new wheels on this in a few weeks so I'm probably going to go with Cooper Discoverer ST/Max this time and get a little upgrade from the AT3s I loved. These seem like a great tire for general passenger vehicle use though but just not my thing.

I love mine. I went up to the LT models from the p rated tires on my f150 for two reasons. First, I tow a 6000lb travel trailer. P tires can handle it, but are maxed out. Secondly, I have to chain up in the snow for hunting. The p tires I have get permanent indentations from the chains do to the softer compounds. This caused the tire to wear prematurely. I have 65,000 on my lt, and am hoping to get another 5-10,000 on them. They have 4-5 mm left

Michelin tread ware and Traction is Great!! I have a set and paid the money... I bought a set for my pickup ... they lasted so long (more than 6 years) and the only problem is that you will want to keep them on so long that they will develop cracks in between the treads... maybe like me...they are still on there and I trucked many of heavy loads just recently after least 6years later cracks and all.. I know that they are due for a change... I might want to stick with them or the Cooper AT3 XLT all depending on what I would like to try or what I can afford... I even plowed for years with my Michelins and spun them up plowing in the snow... still good and plenty of tread depth.. so wherever cheap tires are not an option I'd go with the ones like Michelin defender LTX or an equivalent well reviewed competitor like Cooper At3 XLT ( if they still make them)

Another Great video I was looking at these for my 4Runner I wish Tire Rack would have did a review on these, but they didn't and user reviews don't offer professional data testing, like measured stopping distances So I went with the Continental Terrain Contact H/T Tire that also have UTQG: 800 and A for traction Tire Rack states stellar braking on dry and wet and stops shorter than the service snow rated tires including BF Goodrich K02 that wear out in a summer and they have no UTQG: rating I'm also running General Grabber Arctic Snow Tires for winter on steelies as well as General Grabber X3 on steelies for Off-Roading on the weekend It is impossible to get one tire to excel in all areas; you need a dedicated tire for each situation Collectively the tires will last as long as buying 3 sets of H/T tires, except the extra for the steelies, factory Toyota's are $92.00 each where I live , so if I wreck one in the winter or off road, no worries easy to match of course and only out $92.00, and I don’t have to baby them Off-Road or worry about curb rash in Winter, as I can’t see through the snow, Lol

I've been using Defender LTX M/S for a long time, but people need to know that they suck in snow and ice. You'll slide all over the place because the rubber compound is very hard at low temperatures. The rubber compound is hard in order to have the long tread life. The Continental TerrainContact H/T outperforms the Defender LTX M/S in road grip, stopping tests because they have a better rubber compound. Although I might not get Continental because people tend to have balancing issues with those. I'm looking at possibly getting a Vredestein Pinza A/T or H/T for my next tires, as the performance of those is somewhere in between the Michelin and Continental and without balancing issues.

I have an odd size of Continental A/T contact tires. They're set up for mostly highway use, and occasional off road use. They come very highly rated 65k tread wear rating and are super quiet. 2 possible upcoming issues would be. They're not 3 peak snow rated. Secondly I have heard reviews. That these tires are very difficult to balance, when they start to wear. The truck is an AT4-AWD, with a fully independent suspension. I pid close 60k for this truck and want only the best. Great video!! Seems the size I need only comes with the OWL, no blacked out option. I like this tire, but think it would bother me to mount these inward as you would still be able to see the white lettering.

Nice job on the video. I have toyo open country AT3 tires the are a all terrain tire. I have a f - 150 . The 5.0 and 355 gear spins the tire so easy in rain. I have 15,000 miles on them. Your truck has some decent low end did the new tires help it hook up in the rain.

My defenders are wearing like iron so far. No issues with premature wear here. I didn’t read any issues with this. Everything I read said they lasted a long time. 70,000+ miles. Every mechanic and owner of these tires that I spoke with agreed that the wear is great on these tires. Thanks for watching!

I have these on my Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 CTD. I rotate mine every oil change...about every 3-4k. Wear is pretty even. But...I took a trip to Mammoth MTN from San Diego. About 900 miles RT. On my way home, one of my front tires went south! Started cupping bouncing and went out of round. Tires were balanced at Discount Tires with a recent alignment. Ball joints were checked when I returned home. Zero damage to vehicle but here I am with 29k and these highly recommended tires are going away on me! So BUMMED!!

Yea after buying Cooper Discoverer last time, I was pleased for the first 20k, but at 30k I’ve noticed in the rain they are as bad as the original Goodyear Wrangler ST’s. That I was forced to replace, after I ran over a bucket of sheet metal screws that fell off a truck in front of me, I caught up to at the next red light, but was driven by a Mexican gentleman who no speaka englaze? Well then I was lucky to limp into a Tire Kingdom I knew was luckily right around the corner. I had just added Bilstien 5100 struts and shocks with the front set at 2”, that came close to leveling. So after pricing 3, of the ruined Wranglers at “$640”!!!With tax and fees I was astonished! To find the Coopers one size taller at 265/75-16, for FOUR of then came to LESS at $513!! With the buy 3 get the 4th free sale! Thats what I did at the time. Now with over 38,000 on them rotated free since new, I’m getting concerned in rain. So I’m now PLANNING on replacing the 4, with new tires and Michelin look better the closer I look and your video my friend has sealed the deal on exactly what you have, I was inclined to go LTX AT but you convinced me otherwise. See I have a 2019 Colorado Crew Cab 4x4, V6, I love, and plan to keep for a while but only want to buy ONCE more.

You can't go wrong with Michelins! Most pick up drivers spend 90 percent of their time driving on paved roads. It's crazy to listen to noise from off road style tires while cruising down the highway. I like the raised white letters. It adds some contrast to the black sidewalls.

@@GarageGear I replaced the Michelins with the falken at3w's when those wore out and I'm currently sitting at 130,xxx miles. Still has good tread left. I do regular 5,000 mile rotations. Keep the pressures in check and alignment right. Bilstein shocks. The guys at discount tire usually aren't surprised at how many miles the Falkens rack up. Great tire.i do some mild off roading and wood hauling up in the mountains during the winter. I have the load range E for the 10ply toughness. Also probably why it's lasted so long. They'll most likely age out before I wear them down to the bars.
