Sorry, the new version looks nice, but several important functions are missing: No copy/paste, No voting function, no indicator on zoom level, no image search, text handing, ruler functions etc. So currently it's a Downgrade compared to the former version. I hope MS will update quickly.

Only Microsoft can lower the usefulness of an app by updating it. This version is way less functional compared to the previous version of the Whiteboard app.

Yes, the ruler was a good feature which is lost, I need multiple colors all the time in the class I teach, now I can use only 3 at a time. Microsoft and all software companies justify their existence by updating and fixing things that DO NOT REQUIRE any fixes. Complete BS now, wish I could go back to the older version. Any idea if it is possible

Save image as a .svg file was also a good feature. Microsoft R and D is completely out of sync with what users want. I used to swear by Whiteboard for teaching, now I am seriously looking for a more user friendly option

This update gives me flashback of windows 8. Pretty but no functionality. Things missing: No zoom indicator No ruler No copy paste of images etc Can't lock images to background No clear canvas button for the whiteboard Can't export to SVG Slow to ink at times sometimes skipping letters( I never had this issue with the previous version)

I made a positive review of the new whiteboard when it came out a month ago. However, I changed my mind after using it for some time and made a second negative review, as there is no copy/paste, no undo, no word doc, no clear whiteboard and other basic functions that for some reason Microsoft have removed in this new version. They will probably fix it but as of now the new whiteboard app is worse than the previous one

Great tutorial. With all due respect to the devs who I am sure spent a lot of time on this new update, I just wish whiteboard worked as a whiteboard without the complexities of notes. I have been using whiteboard for a while and I love that I could easily sketch my ideas to students. With the added functions, I find myself tapping the wrong things, not to mention the new bugs in the iPad app that make it so frustrating to use.

@@ianmikutel well Ian to be Frank, while the new UI looks pretty good, the update isn't. First and foremost there is this annoying bug thst happens randomly that makes whiteboard unusable. Sometimes I go back to the whiteboard main page and all of a sudden I get the "Try again" message. It happens to me and my teacher as well and the only way to fix it is to re-install it on the spot. Secondly, removing the ability to copy paste images along with importing PDFs, Words and other file types also makes the program much harder to use. Writing also worsened on my opinion, writing doesn't seem as good as it was before. Lastly, I liked the ability to be able to see who is in the whiteboard and where they're writing with their bubbles as it was before. Thank you for reading this and I hope you can impliment these features back in the future

Nice video... keep up the good work!! two features left out which I really miss: 1) save whiteboard as a SVG ... 2) lock an image or block of text A question though. I'm using Whiteboard for a long time to teach online and I have up to around a 1000+ Whiteboards stored. I want to mass delete most of them, since I have them all saved locally as a SVG or PNG. Since deleting every whiteboard one by one is not an option. Is there an option to delete them all? If Mike or anyone out there has a way to do it, please let me know.

I love the Whiteboard and I use it often in class! Just one thing that would make it perfect. Removing the option for students to delete other collaborations. The one reason I can't use this as a fully collaborative experience is that I have a lot of kids who like to troll in class and will do absolutely anything to disrupt the classroom learning environment and have a laugh at an angry teacher whose mystery student deleted everything the class did in the Whiteboard. Other than that, this is pretty darn excellent.

Nice to see this developing - the templates are great! Couple of things that would be good to see: 1) Connectors - the ability to not just draw free lines between assets, but to connect them (like Miro), 2) Ability to embed Forms. Voting by adding reaction images seems clunky, but would be great to be able to add polls.

This looks promising, but I’m worried it’s just not there yet on mobile, specifically iPad. The app icon is no longer centred and the lack of animations makes it feel a bit rough, but I appreciate where it’s heading and it’s leaps and bounds ahead of where it was. Genuine question: will this UI and even pen-feel(?) be shared across other Microsoft services that use pen functionality, like Windows 11 photos, Microsoft Edge and office apps? It’d be cool to have it all unified, similar to how Apple uses the same inking toolbar for all iPad and iOS apps.

I record my screen while i use my whiteboard and write lots of text as well as draw diagrams using digital pen. Earlier version of WB used to work so well i could write whole day without any problems. The new version starts to lag as soon as i have few sentence written and diagrams are drawn. I overcome this issues i open new page every time the WB lags. Come on MS 😕

I like the export feature. However, will the people that you "collaborated" with during that meeting be able to get back to that board without having the that exported jpg? What about collaborating on a board and then allowing another user to have an editable copy of it as the owner? In other words, Create a board (with content from a lesson, book, etc.) then share it (kinda like creating a template for someone like we do with forms) so that someone else can own and use it for their class without changing the 1st owners template.

I do have few more comments thou: lasso feature is not working so well as before; less pens option on the screen than before; then option with hair line running all over the screen when you want to choose the pen so you erase everything in order to get rid of this hovering line. Do you have the answer why does this happen. What have I done in order for that line to happen.

Also realized I had lost the ability to paste images (e.g. from a screenshot) you could only insert an image file, meaning I had to take the extra step of saving my screenshots.

Actually I really like it, I even would love to use it, BUT there is one big flaw: I cannot send something to the background and fix it there. So it's quite anoying to build up kanban boards or the like when you move (accidentally) your swim lanes...

there are still millions using your white board especially teachers, changing copy paste option from white board will just confuse teachers who are using it in the post pandemic situation. we are missing the basic copy n paste option which we copy from skype /any chat box to explain where the child has gone wrong. my expectation of update was you might add chat box with both audio video options

Please make attachment available when creating quiz in teams. Sometimes the images are not loading properly so I want to put pdf file as reference.

It still has bugs in it that need to be fixed. Templates have issues. Also the APP for whiteboard itself has restrictions.

We just released copy & past within a board - this should be available now on the item context menu. Up next is copy/paste of image into a board, which is due in the next few weeks. Copy across boards is the next step, we’re working on that and be able to share the timeline soon. Can we do something as simple as change the silly font in a text box yet? I guess no, as everyone skips over that in their videos and MS is silent on UserVoice when asked about it. Not interested.

We historically had one font that was designed to look non-formal to make it clear this is an ideation canvas, not a final report.
