Wow...a year later and Midjourney has a new website! But when will Midjourney have a website with tools, features and a UI like Leonardo AI and Adobe Firefly?

According to the roadmap, next month? I will say, I’m curious to see how the UI will work with MJ. I love Leo, and I’m mixed on Firefly, but the one thing I think Leo struggles with is their layout. It has progressively gotten more complex as new features are added, and I think it comes off as very overwhelming to new users. Don’t get me wrong, they’re doing a great job, and I’m not going to armchair quarterback, but I do think the crowded UI is a turn off to casual/new users. Firefly has a nice balance. I’m just not overly impressed with the output.

I feel this Beta is very ...Empty. I need the collections of Archive I can curate into groups and archive download functions. Also direct to imagine functions. But at this point there's way too much images to even care who's doing what unless you have a specific query for prompting examples.

With Dalle 3 and Leonardo so accessible now I rarely ever think to use MidJourney. Generating images via discord feels very clunky so I welcome a website version.

@@SnowBunnyMan I don't now about that. I used Dalle 3 yesterday to create a new client logo with their name (4 words) spelt correctly 2 out of 4 generations - pretty amazing. I didn't feel restricted at all.

Light mode and dark mode are used in different lighting conditions. So if you work in a light room light mode is better as it has better contrast for most.

The old site allows me to select images to download as a zip file. Maybe I’m being dense but I don’t see that in the new site. You can download bundles by date. I’d miss that a lot

I’m pretty baffled as to why people are thinking having a website that loads your images quickly, (as they should with quick internet speeds at home) is revolutionary. It’s not at all. This should have been sorted a long time ago for paying users. Especially highest paying members.

I’m one of those weirdos who actually like Discord, but I also totally get why others don’t. I’m curious to see what happens on the mobile side. The site seems optimized for mobile viewing, but I wonder if we’ll get a full MJ app at some point. They did release that weird Niji App, but that doesn’t count!

Hi Tim! Thanks for the great content. I've just started experimenting with Midjourney and watched all your tutorials on the subject. One thing I can't figure out is why I can't see the member gallery nor the gallery of my own images if I visit the website. Any tips on fixing this? Because the CEO out of nowhere brought up the fact that according to him "they're NOT trying to be like Apple" lol. Then he immediately followed it by saying "F#*K Apple!" @@TheoreticallyMedia No I don't think it was because of your video, it seem more like he had a lot of internal dialog going on during the call. It was my first time on a full Office Hours Call and I honestly felt like they're a bit all over the place when it comes to everything they're working on. IMO if they have the funds they really need to invest in at least another 20-40 employees, but that's just based on the impression I got. It sounded like a lot of indecision possibly rooted out of insecurity but I don't know enough about David to be certain. It's good to be a laid back leader who's main goal is to have fun (like he says) but also when you have paying customers, too much of that slackness can be detrimental to a companies focus and productivity IMO. Sorry for my long rant lol. God bless you Tim!

It is paid only. MJ doesn’t take any Venture Capitalist money, it’s all member funded. They had a trial period early on, but some loopholes and abuse quickly emerged, so they shut the trial period down immediately. I don’t know their financials, but I think they operate at a lower margin than most of us think. I’m not saying they make zero dollars, but they’d certainly be stupid rich if they sold out. My hope is, now that the website is shaping up, we’ll see a return of a trial period. Though I think it will likely go the route of elevenlabs, where it will require CC authorization beforehand. That’s pure speculation on my part though.

Thanks for the update - the new website is much better. I've only maintained the base subscription and only find time maybe 3 evenings a month; even so, I am quite surprised just how many images I've generated over the last 6 months or so. I look forward to not having to deal with the Discord interface!

Isn’t it wild? Seeing that helicopter view, I had this odd sense of…nostalgia? Like: oh, I remember that time with the cyberpunk ninja fighting the dragon on the moon. Such a surreal feeling… And, while I get that you aren’t a fan of the Discord, I will say, the Mobile App of Discord is a good way of generating images while you’re on the go. I do that quite often when I’m in line at the grocery store, or stuck at the DMV or whatever. But, hopefully we’ll have a mobile optimized website soon enough!

@wheels4515 - Since I have the same plan as you I wanted to share something in case you didn't already know. If you spend even 15-20 minutes rating other peoples images you can easily win "1 Free Fast Hour" per day!. Then you have 1 month to use that free hour. I never run out of my fast hours because of how much awarded free time I'm constantly building up and I don't even spend that much time rating images at all! That’s interesting. And maybe a little short sighted on their part. I’m hoping once the site is finalized, we’ll see the return of a trial mode. The one thing that I’ll say in MJ’s defense on the lack of a trial period: they don’t take external Venture money. So, their margins might be thinner than we think. They reacted to the whole trial period abuse/loophole REALLY quickly- which leads me to believe they weren’t acting out of greed, but rather survival.

So many vertical images on the Mid journey website! All the horizontal images look smaller. Sad that aspect ratios are diverging from the natural human eye horizontal images because of their popularization by people being so stupid they can't figure out they should hold their phones horizontally when shooting pictures. Idiocracy on the rise as in every other way in the world.

Haha. As 16:9 ride or die, I’m with you. I think 9:16 be a pretty effective visual format in a page collage layout- or even as an endless scroll. For portraits I much prefer 2:3… The format itself on the website does appear to be a stylistic choice, as when you click on an image, it lightboxes it the original aspect ratio. I suppose it does make things less cluttered- But yeah, for better or worse, phone layout has become a dominant force in aspect ratios. I sort of wonder if/when AR and VR take off, if there will be a shift to a different culturally dominant AR?

I don't understand how anyone professional would like the new site more than the old. Rounded corners - it's MAYBE cute, but it's less functionality. Who cares what it looks like if you can't download zips by date - the stupid relative dating is so amateurish, the downloads are a ridiculous amount of mini zips, you can't choose multiple things to download - it's all or nothing. It took so many days to even FIND the bulk downloader. The grid view that disrespects landscape and vertical orientation? How on earth is this better?
