“NÜO Athletics started in 1997 by Tomas Svenberg who was a rower on Sweden’s national team. He realized that to reach peak performance, he had to work out at home as well. However, gym equipment didn’t meet the professional standard he needed to push his physical limits. So, he sketched the blueprints for a dumbbell that could replace an entire set of fixed dumbbells while avoiding complex weight changes - and with that, Nuobell was born.”

Thanks for the update! However, I purchased a pair of the old nuobell and I always had a pair of powerblock (pro exp version) and, in the end, I returned the nuobells for one single reason: once you go at higher weights, the dimensions of the dumbbell play a very important role in my opinion. at 32kg (I'm in Europe so we get the Kg version) the nuobells are much longer and hence less manageable than the powerblocks. That was my only gripe with the product and the new ones don't seem to solve that problem as they seem just as long. They are very beautiful, compared to powerblocks which are, objectively, really, really ugly. But muscles don't have eyes :)
