I love that Coop and the team review adjustable dumbbells so much. In a home gym, these are super convenient. You don't have to have dozens of dumbbells or add plates, secure plates, use dumbbells, remove plates, re-rack plates, fetch other plates, and secure again. You just rack and twist.

I have the Nuobells and they are amazing. I have had them for a couple of years with no issues. I do like that they have replacement parts now. Just found out about that here (thanks Coop!). The only thing I would change is to go up to 100 pounds or more, but 80 is fine for most accessories. If you want smaller increments, you could always throw on some platemates. I do recommend getting the stand with them. It's a quality piece and really makes them easier to use.

I have had the Gen 2 Trulaps for a couple weeks. The shipping to get them was very frustrating, but they arrived well packed in 6 different boxes so there was no damage due to overweight boxes. Assembly was very easy, disappointed that the stand for the Gen 2’s won’t be out for another 2 months so I have to deal with them on the ground for now. Getting to the actual product I would say that there are a GameChanger for me. My current home gym had a lot of voids in my dumbells where the increment jumps were just too large to be able to go to the next size per exercise. With these dumbbells having the ability to go up 2 to 3 pounds it works out very well. When doing rear shoulder exercises and you don’t want to make larger jumps for a smaller muscle group. It allows you to do so. I love the larger grip. I don’t notice the weights rattling much as long as your motion is controlled. if you look online for discount codes, you can even get the trulaps cheaper then what is on this video. The stainless steel look is awesome. Thank you for putting out videos like this as a previous review you did on these adjustable dumbbells really helped me make my decision.

I love my trulap dumbbells. I mentioned this in another video but if you get the 1.25 magnetic add-ons you can basically go up in 1 1/2 pound increments on the trulaps. That’s hard to beat. I just got my trulaps, took a month and a half after ordering to get them from Canada to Florida. For a couple weeks they were out of stock, but the rest was UPS delays, customs declarations, etc. and to top it off they misplaced one of the 6 boxes and it took an extra week after the other 5 arrived. Other than shipping issues, they look and feel great, I dont mind the relatively thick handles, and the overall length is longer than nuobells but not if you stop at 80lbs like the nuobells. I don't think these are going to break or fail anytime soon either.

I will say, though, that if they're not in stock when you order, be ready to wait up to two months to receive them. Hopefully Trulap works on their communication and getting a better sense of their distributors as they mature as a company. I ordered January 31. At the time, the website said they expected to ship early to mid February. By the end of February, they updated their website to say they expected to ship early to mid March. I received no communication anywhere along the way; I was just checking the website. They finally shipped March 26 and arrived April 1. I still would have ordered them had I known I wouldn't get them for 2 months, but the lack of communication and their website just pushing the date out was a pain point.

I'm not sure going above 80lbs in this design is a benefit. The heavier they go, the more likely you may need to drop them on a failed set. You certainly can't drop the Nuobells, and I wouldn't want to drop the Trulap either. I also don't want to carefully put a 92lb dumbbell back its fragile, plastic cradle after an exhausting, heavy set. At some "heavy weight," the Ironmasters are the only good option, and if you're lifting heavy enough, you don't mind spending a few extra seconds resting while you adjust the weight. Really, these fragile, quick change dumbbells are good for circuit training and easier, lighter sets, and that's what I use them for.

Unfortunately I only took the broken handle in, so it took a few days for me to notice that the knurling on the replacement was much less aggressive. Picking them up and instantly feeling different levels of knurl drives me nuts. *EDIT*: the part that broke in my case was the plastic gear housing. It was dropped from shin height, on an angle, onto a thick rug over a wooden floor with cork underlay. IIRC it had 6 or 8Kg on it at the time.

@@AM-dd6gk You don't even need Olympic. Just buy the cheapo standard spin lock sets. I used those for many years. Standard plates are pretty easy to find used for cheap. If you can't afford that, just use body weight exercises. They can take you pretty far. Or the OP can keep making excuses, but should probably keep in mind that a degree probably won't fix anything in that case.

My first adjustable dumbbells were a pair of old powerblocks I found on Craigslist. Just keep watching and you can find some deals. - Coop

Are Trulap and Assassin Goods adjustable dumbbells the same? The look exactly alike / same weight, etc, but are they actually the same. AG also sells replacement parts.
@NilsValkenborgh5 ай бұрын
They are, I have the Assassin Goods ones, they are rebranded in different countries as JSM, Carbyne,… but they’re the same product. I’ve had mine for 2 months now, absolutely love the 1,5kg increments.

@@NilsValkenborgh Thank you so much for the info on the other sellers. If you know any other sellers, could you kindly poste them here so I can check for the best location to buy from? Your reply made my day! :)

PSA: Make sure to check wether you'll receive 1 or 2 dumbells. I see JSM sells them per piece.

@@a.e.3323 I originally wanted to order them from Trulap but the shipping to Europe was through the roof, so I looked up the same dumbbells via google images. As far as I was able to deduce, Assassin Goods (UK), JSM (Poland), Carbyne (Singapore), Alibaba (China, but minimum order is 32 pieces) are all the same. AG seemed like the best option for me logistically, 3 years extended warranty and spare parts.

are the trulap actually 92lbs? as the nuobell is actually 72lbs even though it says 80.
@dstanley19775 ай бұрын
I confirmed on 2 scales, they are 92lbs and a couple. They are within 0.1 lbs of each other.

I picked up a pair of 120lb pro dumbbells. I just remove plates and add aluminum spacers to lower weights. Heavy pro dumbbells are easily the best adjustable dumbbells, if you can operate an allen key.

i love how you always moan about kilo's as if it is not a superiour weight measurement.

I do think its a quibbble that only needs mentioned once.... but that said, they do try to increment normally on the 5's, ie- 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, 85... not a bad tradeoff!

Why are you only reviewing racks and benches from REP and Rogue? There's a lot of newer compnies making some kickass gear.

Look neubels breaking after falling quite easily and being a pain to take apart is silly. Their mecanisms use too much plastic if only there was a dumbell that was in between these 2 and used more metal

Funny - 4 KG rounds closer to 9 lbs than 8.5, so why not just call it a 9lb base? All the 1.5 KG increments are rounded to nearest full pound.
