Honestly hard to say which one is my favorite. If anything, I'm stuck between three characters. 1) Lore-wise, Echo would be the most fascinating since we have someone straight out asking Echo about the one who made her (and how she responds as if she was like a copy of her). Rather fasiniating to consider (especially after the shorts we got). 2) If I was going off humor, can't go wrong with "Big Brother Mauga" and how it feels like he would purposefully allow himself to be bonked over the head by Venture and bend over so they can reach his head. 3) The only other thing of note I would consider is Ramattra due to how one could argue Venture kind of would propel his thought process of Humans being... human. Mind you, I like to think that humans could go to the sanctuary well enough, but he sounds so defeated when he says, "Asthma" as if he couldn't wrap his head around it. That and part of me would wonder if someone with Asthma should be digging underground if that were the case, but I'll digress on that one since I'm sure there are plenty of individuals who had Asthma and probably were miners or something where they could still do their job in spite of having some difficulty breathing.

You don't have to be related to someone to have that type of connection. I think mauga and venture both just happen share an interest in finding artifacts. Venture obviously because they're just an absolute nerd for history and mauga is just plain greedy. But both prolly have worked together, and I'm assuming they respect each other so much that they somehow developed this type of bond. I'm all for it, I love mauga being such a menacing "big brother" to ventures naive pure yet equally menacing vibe.

I thought to go back to OW after the whole Hong Kong debacle (Free HK still!). Decided to read up on the lore and found "non-binary" and stuff like that in it (kinda funny since the B in LGBT stands for Bisexual i.e. Bi for Binary). They did a really good job with her characterization. Some of the new characters near the start were really hit or miss, (Sojourn and Kiriko. Not gameplay wise. But their characterization felt some what lacking imo, especially Kiriko. Who almost feels like a different person from the short we got lol) That said, Venture easily feels like she belongs here alongside everyone else. Her character is directly out there and on display which is good.

Venture feels like the first fully OW2-original character to have a characterization on par with the originals. Lifeweaver was getting there, and everyone else either already existed in OW1 (Ram, Mauga, JQ) or were just... underwhelming (Soj, Illari, Kiri). Not that OW1 didn't have its stinkers, but man were 2's newcomers rough at first.

@@seth8580 Junker Queen was good, but she already existed prior to OW2, so she had a base going for her already. The same is the case for Ramattra and Mauga (and Sojourn, but she turned out to be the flattest of them all). What I meant is that Venture is the first character created entirely by the new team working at OW2 that actually feels at home in the cast (although I personally think Lifeweaver's not too bad either, bar some really bad dialogue he's also pretty well-realized as a character).
