Mine arrived last week, and WOW is all I can say. The unboxing alone was such a treat. The boat looks incredible in person,.Sent her out for the first time with some friends and it was the best out of the box r/c experience I've ever had. Man is this thing a legit thrill to run, it's so damn fast and handles great. Awesome review of an awesome boat, and your maintenance and upgrade videos for the SonicWake V2 have been invaluable help, thank you!

It ran fine the first two times although the electrics seemed very warm. Third run, I drove a little faster after lubing the shaft. Electrical system and batteries were really HOT. More importantly the rubber grommet that hold the brass driveshaft tube into the stringer completely melted and disintegrated. The shaft is not aligned to the motor. The boat is now inoperable after just three runs.

@@WinstonWolf2025 Simple fix - replace the black grommet with either silicone tube or I prefer using 4 green O rings (the ones used on car AC systems) - end of the problem. Also make sure that the clamp arrow is pointing forward or it will misalign the tube and shaft.

I just got an used SonicWakeV2 and was running with an Impulse 32 before. The Impulse seems to be wayy faster, yes the ESC is 160A instead of 120A but weird thing everything's getting alot hotter on the Sonic Wake. The motor, ESC and battery cables are much hotter. Moreover, on the Impulse I am unable to get to full speed yet, still too much waves on the lake I've ride. The Sonic rides alot smoother and takes waves way more easier than the Impulse. I am thinking about putting the 160A and motor (2000kV instead of 1900 if I remember correctly). I would see how it goes. BTW i am riding both boats with newer 2x 3S 100C 5000mAh spektrum packs.

For ppl that run in rougher/choppy water.... how do you keep the water out? I had I'm pretty scary experience yesterday running the third set of batteries in my version 2 where water somehow got into the receiver box and made it act sporadically making the throttle go on its own or be delayed and then take off. It decided to do this mid run and took off directly towards me on the shore and I literally had to catch it with my hands slicing open one of my fingers from the rear of the boat.. not ideal to say the least. I need someone to help me in regards to if they make a new receiver box that is actually waterproof and if they make a waterproof receiver that I can now replace this one with? Additionally I've been looking at the exploded parts diagram and I cannot find the foam padding that is beneath the top cowl. This is installed terribly from the factory and I think I need to redo it and I want to add a second layer so when you actually do tighten the thumb screws it creates a seal. I can't find this part No. Help? I dont run in pond smooth conditions unless I get out there super early so my runs are more bashing since it submarines several times per run. Probably self right 10 times during the run as well. (Choppy waters like I said- but still fun when it does hook up) I like the boat I guess I'm just disappointed on how much water is ending up inside. Currently the boat is unusable and it's one day old so it's a little aggravating
@borrellimaintenance Жыл бұрын
Hey. With this boat. If you tight tbe screws down well it really doesn't let water in much. But we use electrical tape or clear marine tape around the lid when we go in salt water and 0 water gets in. We still wash the outside and rinse the inside out after the batteries are pulled.

@JuanSQuiP Жыл бұрын
based on my experience, every big deep V RC boat is bad turning at low speeds, they need a wide space to be able to turn at low speeds, so you need to push the throttle a little more in order to get a sharper turn.
