the event that triggers the raccoon event is unlocking the green house. a raccoon runs out of it, and the following night you get the noise of the tree falling. just found out in my new save file

frogs do not go in the tank, the swamp tank is just a normal fish tank, just looks cooler :) frog egg is a trinket you can put in your inventory (like your clothes and rings) and the frog follows you around and eat enemies in the mines (you can have a fairy and a parrot too!! they both do different things tho)

A tip for the first Raccon Quest, incase you dont have a whole lot of crab pots, you can actually put the crab pot fish you need in the bait maker to make targeted bait, and then your guaranteed to get that targeted fish from the crab pot.

Foraging is one of my first skills to 10 usually... Combat is my last one, with Fishing (second last) being usually closer to all the others while Combat is much later.

they are part of the reward from the late game mastery challenges. A summon that eats monsters in the cave. one of the noted "trinkets." Specifically the summons. Its amazing what concerned ape did with this update

you can also get river jellies from midnight carp too if you raised them in a fish pond (but you need to have 10 of them and also it's quite rate too) i still don't have any idea if sea jellies can be found via fish ponds or not and what fish does it requires to farm it

Stardew still assuming everyone can do fishing mini game and go mining so therefore not a game I will be returning to as still no peaceful mode for mines and no way to deactivate fishing mini game this is where coral island beats stardew valley

Mods exist for both of these features. Also if you’re able bodied and older than 12 you should be able to handle a fishing mini game.

To be fair, CA probably will not change both the problems you have, it adds a challenge and strategy to catching fish and mining. For me, it's more rewarding having the fishing mini game to catch fish and using weapons, rings, forging my weapons etc to get down the mines and skull cavern. As stated, there are mods to combat these problems you have with those elements, mods are very easy to install. There are many helpful videos on youtube to help people set up their game to install mods. If you don't want to install mods and these factors in the game are a bother for you, then stardew probably isn't the game for you.
