The NEW R36 GTR On The Streets Of Tokyo?!

It’s not every day that Nissan wants to take one of its concept cars out on the street. But that’s exactly what we did with this one, a last minute arrangement that Larry and I got to work on the day before TAS 2023.
The brief was simple, Nissan would allow us to shoot the Hyperforce Concept on the streets of Tokyo, make it look cool and show it in a setting other than a stage at a motor show.
The result, well have a watch! It’s nothing more than a hint at what a future GT-R may or could be, possibly electric and solid state battery powered. It’s up to you to interpret it as you want. One thing is definitely important though, Nissan is considering making it.
The GT-R has a future and that’s very good!

This vehicle being a concept car is designed to be eye catching and get people talking, and I think they nailed that brief. You yourself witnessed this, as it drew a crowd in a very short period of time. This is why I don’t get some of the negative comments here, I thought the shoot was awesome, the locations and the lighting brought out the best in its lines. Congratulations on marking another milestone in Nissan history Dino 👏

Rear is gorgeous and reminiscent of the past.... the front is so aggro... like a 1 up.of the new mustang and the cybertruck... may grow on me. If it's function over fashion meh so be it.... but I wouldn't call the nose pretty

I personally hate that companies are moving more towards boxy cyberpunk like cars. but being that the gtr was always traditionally a boxylike car, this is super fitting. while its a concept car, aerodynamically its made beautifully. this gives heavy hyper car vibes. could it be hyper car prices too? How much freedom would you have to customize this car? With new generation cars being mostly made of electrical/assisted parts. How would a regular tuner even start? honestly at the end this just looks like a body kit one could install in their gtr r35 today. Hope to see more of nissans future and not a disappointing update to the car. (same mechanical components as the r35 with just more wires)

Definitely an interesting futuristic prototype. Before they slammed it for photos, the front wheel arches and fitments are very similar to a speedway stock car.. for specific hight and camber adjustments i guess. Possibly a very type R headlight assembly 🤔. That said, the front airdams under them, and intake areas look purpose-built and nicly aggressive 👍 It would definitely stop traffic 😂

Quality shoot, Dino. That's a nice concept, not too futuristic but still visionary. I REALLY like the effect the tail lights have, has one of those infinity mirror kind of looks. Also, that the transport truck is basically a lit shadowbox... I fucking love Japan!

Now that is an awesome video, great locations and great backgrounds with the trains and city. This might be a bit odd, but it kinda reminds me of some of the Dalek re-imaginings designs I see from time to time. I do like the afterburner lights. There is so much detail in this concept car that is so hard to see in this video. There was a concept R36 a red one on the display window in the Nissan HQ in Yokohama though was different to this. My mate sent me a picture but when I went there it was long gone but still a great place to visit I love Japan.

The video looks incredible thanks for sharing this! If it's going to be a full EV they should call it something else. The new GT-R should be a performance hybrid with an ICE soul and EV front hub motors at low speed to meet emissions and do torque vectoring and out of the corner grunt. (I know an RB from the factory is never coming back, maybe if the engineers did a solid and made swapping one in (with an h-shifter like the T.50) as its ICE heart super easy!). An Infiniti halo car full EV version would be a good spot for this! I also hope the final street version is reigned in and shrunken a bit, with some halo taillights (I'm not a huge fan of the shutters, but they are different in an interesting concept car way).
