Fantastic. One detail though, "Although I'm sure some companies will release more lenses for this". Actually there are tens of thousands of Lenses that will mount on this immediately. The module uses a "C-Mount" and "CS-Mount" (C Short) standard screw mount lens. The C-Mount standard has been around since 1926 for 16mm film cameras and I'd suspect that the original 94 year old lenses would work. Basically just look for any C-mount or CS-mount rated for a 1/2.3" format or larger. But the "sensor format" is very important to check on such lenses. This specifies the size of the sensor and if you buy a C-Mount lens with a smaller format size you will get the edges of your image cut off. You can also get a wide variety of adapters to mount anything from a DSLR lens to an astronomical telescope. In fact one of the first things I'm going to slap my module on is an 8' Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope.

@ledhceb4 жыл бұрын
@@tomf3150 Definitely not going to work well for high end long exposure Deep Sky Object DSO imaging, no cooling and the pixels are too small, I'd go for a Revolution Imaging product for a cheap option for that. OTOH this is reasonably well suited for Lunar and Planetary Imaging with image stacking.and drizzling I'm very interested with respect to Lunar Imaging at high frame rates to achieve "Lucky" imaging. That said, the bare board and low cost makes rigging a Peltier cooler a trivial option with negligible downsides. It's like overclocking, you aren't going to get insane performance but the downside is so low that it is a no brainer to do. Of course this is a bit OT for a emulation and gaming channel :)

The bigger lens costs $50. That lens requires the HQ camera board which costs $50. As I understand the system, the "back focus" is on the HQ camera board and when a new lens is used, the "back focus" is a focus opportunity (or a burden - depends on your outlook).

nice video thanks. I'm not sure but I think the way to adjust the backfocus for a given lens/camera combo is you have to turn the lens to infinity then look for something to focus on that is far away (the longer the lens, the further away but even for 16mm a few m should be enough, but if you want to be sure, you can always use the moon). with the lens "locked" to infinity adjust the backfocus so that your chosen subject is in focus and lock the backfocus. now whatever you do you can't focus past infinity and you get the maximum close focusing abilities without sacrificing the possibility to also focus to infinity...

What is the closest focusing distance and at that distance how many lines-per-inch (LPI) will either of the camera and lens combinations resolve too?
