▬ Read our FULL review of 14 Reasons to/NOT to Buy the Rogue Monster Utility Bench 2.0 ▬
www.garagegymreviews.com/rogu...
The Rogue Monster Utility Bench 2.0 is a good bench, but not the best we’ve reviewed. The Monster Series line is supposed to represent Rogue’s best efforts; because of this, we think this bench doesn’t meet the standard of say, a Rogue RM-6 Monster Power Rack or Rogue Monster Rhino Belt Squat. With some minor changes, we think this could be one of the best benches on the market. However, currently, we’d have to recommend the Rep FB-5000 Bench over this one. Unless you just love Rogue or really want a made in the USA product, then I’d go that direction.

It's June 2020 and Rogue is offering a knurled handle now (Ohio bar classic pattern), as a $35 option. I like that they made it an option, rather than just raising the price to put on a knurled handle. Options also let you vary the floot-to-pad-top height from 15.25 to 17.5 to 19.75 inches, so if you're especially short or tall that may be a feature you like. No color options yet. I'll probably go for the Rep and use cut-up stall mats under my feet since I'm short, rather than get the shorty version of this Rogue bench at this price.

Coop, great video. What do think about the V1 vs V2 version of the FB-5000? I have the V1 after the pad was updated and am curious. Also, what are your thoughts on the Rep wide pad vs the regular pad vs the Thompson? I think I noticed this Rogue bench with the Thompson pad is close to the cost of the Rep bench plus Thompson pad as an add-on. Thanks and enjoy your family today!

My Rogue AB-3 is going back tomorrow. Rogue has been taken down a peg by Prime Fitness. Prime has the quality AND innovation. They can take that Banshee effort and shove it up their butts. If they don’t start copying and improving Prime Prodigy HLP’s then they’re irrelevant to me. 3-4 in 1! When I was going with a Rogue rack I didn’t have enough room for all the other pieces in my planned layout. Then I had the Prime eureka moment. RIP Rogue. The only thing I need from you at this point is your urethane steel plates. I hope that changes too.

Hey Coop...I agree they missed the boat w/the handle. I think the textured black is their most durable finish (same w REP and Sorinex) and fine to start with, but offering this in more colors (soon) would be a nice feature for ppl looking to match racks or add a pop of color. That said, as much as I had high hopes for this to be a vast improvement over the FB5000, in terms of MFG quality and some functionality, it looks like it isn’t. If REP could just get their powder coat durability sorted out and better packaging, I think it would be a no contest in REP’s favor when a Rogue Fat Pad is added on to the 5000.

I have had a horrible experience with rogue over the last 6 months...lost, damaged, incorrect orders, defective parts...told it’s my responsibility to pay for returns on defective products, like what ? Customer service is a joke, and as you mentioned the powder coated texture, I bought their weight tree and the posts are thick powder coated ?? Why on earth would you do that, instantly tears all the paint off calibrated plates...so stupid. Going to rep for future needs. I’d post pics of how tons of my gear arrived, but can’t. Be careful my friends! Really starting to believe Rogue is nothing but hype, thanks for keeping it real Coop!

Depends how bad you want a Thompson Fat Pad (unless you already have it).. The upgrade through Rogue is only like $20, where as with Rep you pay for the bench, the full price of the pad, and then shipping from both companies.. That comes out to the Rep version costing more than the Rogue version. You can still get Rep's version of that pad, but from what I see online people still prefer the TFP.
@GarageGymReviews

The Thompson Fat Pad is definitely superior, but I wouldn't say it's vastly different.
@bmstylee
@bmstylee 4 жыл бұрын
I bought the Rep with the fat pad and shipped to my house was $220. It's a $20 upcharge from the standard pad. A big saving over Rogue who I am an unabashed fan boy of. If you buy the bench and then add a fat pad later it's about the same overall cost as the Monster bench.
@airgordo4
@airgordo4 4 жыл бұрын
@@bmstylee I meant if you specifically wanted a Thompson Fat Pad and not the Rep clone "Wide Pad". That would be 150 + shipping for the Rep bench itself, and then another 150 for the Thompson Fat Pad + shipping from Rogue. At that point it's cheaper to just buy the Rogue version as they only charge $20 to upgrade their bench to the Fat Pad.. Hence why my first line was "Depends how bad you want a Thompson Fat Pad". lol

@@airgordo4 People are silly over the fat pad, I have the Rep bench with the regular pad. I've never had the feeling that I needed any more space and I'm considerably larger than most people... People just feel like they need it because its an upgrade and thus it must be in some way necessary.

If I had money to burn I would. And as a general rule Rogue makes some of the best gear and at fair prices compared to their competition. I spent my cash on the important parts: RM4 Fortis Rack, 20kg Ohio Power Bar from the Boneyard, Ohio Bar. If you want to spend all the money buy good bars. A Gucci rack is a luxury but not needed. I did DIY platforms for the rack and deadlift platform. Used iron plates. I have no problems spending cash on top shelf gear when the alternative isn't close on quality. The Rep bench is a better value for money. It's as simple as that. And I am a very big Rogue fanboy.

never understood how people have had issues with the normal feet getting in the way on bench press. My guess... they lay on it like he does in this video. With about a foot or two of the pad between his legs and beyond his ass. Solution.... just slide a little further down the bench. If the feet still get in the way you must be putting your feet like directly under your ass/ lower back.... I can't help you out there. I dont bend like that. Point is, at 5'10".... about as average a height a dude can be, I've never come across a bench that had feet that "got in the way" while benching.
