One thing to understand about manufacturing is tolerances. This rack was rated at 800 lbs because it was built in an unprecise manner, meaning the quality varies wildly from unit to unit, but with the minimum capacity of 800lbs. And even then they try to factor in a large enough buffer that the actual minimum is 10% more. You might get lucky and buy one that can easily hold 1000+ or you might get unlucky and your rack fails at 780.

Not really. This survived a 700 LB drop one (1) time. Can it handle a second? Third? Fourth? Other more expensive racks are intended for public gym use where people are going to test their limits - and the limits of the equipment. People working out by themselves or with just a buddy hanging about are probably going to be significantly more conservative in the amount of weight they push and the risks they take. I won't even push my limits in the public gym without my workout partner around. Much less a home setup with no one around if a lift goes sour.

@@russellplouffe2863 I don't think every bar would bend that way. But the safeties definitely would be stiffer than just about any bar made. I own this rack, the first thing I did was replace the j-hooks with rep fitness 1000 series. It’s honestly not a bad rack for the money.

I love the way you just back up in the street without even looking..... LOL That's way scarier than standing close to the rack.

Coop please do more drop tests on budget racks. Would like to see how the Titan T-2 holds up..or the Rep pr-1100.
