My opinion: I’m a Native man (Or Indigenous for whoever prefers) I’m here because of a TikTok video saying how this cologne spiked in sales and I looked it up and saw an article about how Johnny Depp and Dior faced backlash over cultural appropriation and shit. On my own behalf, in no way do I take this offensive nor is there anything offensive about this video. They used actual Natives within the video, one wearing a traditional and legitimate dance regalia. All Johnny Depp did was uncover some Native jewelry that doesn’t even show him put on, again nothing wrong with that even if he was wearing it. There are going to be indigenous people and other people who will find this offensive and the cologne name offensive. I personally do NOT find this offensive in any way and I’m just speaking for myself, good video anyways.

Cultural appropriation as a concept is just fucking ridiculous anyways. People have been adopting god parts of other cultures since the fucking dawn of time. Without it, most of today’s cultures would be completely different or even technologically backwards hundreds if not thousands of years. One example is Japan adopting and changing to suit themselves China’s writing. If they had to invent a new way from scratch they would have been late to the technological era and we would probably not have today’s videogames. People are stupid to a point nowadays that cooking food of another culture gets you backlash and even recently a streamer got backlash for speaking spanish...

I’m not indigenous but as far as I know the dance is hard to learn so I guess those participants are actually indigenous which I love, it gives the beautiful and powerful dance as viewing platform which is nice too. I’m glad you didn’t find this offensive 🙂
