+dyonomite reacher I disagree with you on the maps. Even before whites got to Africa, Tribes had their teritories marked. Maps existed before the white man. Am a religious person, I believe in the bible. So, when it comes to the AIDS propaganda, I truly believe its one of the diseases without cure that the Bible predicted. I dont believe in the propaganda that the Whites introduced it into Africa.

+Naomi Chumba I cannot agree more, but they certainly did mention that there is a rise of African Oligarchs and this is perpetuated by the years and years of political and economic oppression. When you and your family have been powerless and in poverty for years and somebody offers you a new life surely you'll do anything for that opportunity if you are someone who aspires to lead a more ambitious lifestyle. I make no excuse for the wide spread corruption in Africa but lets place the blame where the blame should be placed (The West and its Allies)

I agree. The competition here is between the US and China, African countries are not winning. As an African who believes its out turn to lead our countries better than the former generation, we have to lead with reason and logic. We are watching greedy leaders stealing and complacency is a disease killing us slowly!!!...it drives me crazy to see how China is benefiting as it strives to be a super power. This is modern day colonialism and we have to decolonize. We have to self actualize as a continent and stand up for ourselves. We do not need saviors anymore! If China wants to have projects in Kenya, they need to hire Africans and they need to leave!..If US organizations are going to be housed in Kenya, they should hire locals first...#DECOLONIZE AFRICA!...

@@maathejayandyjohns1343 how have I only seen this response after 4 years 😅 What you're saying is true but only partly so. The older generation are the ones who cling on to economic models and foreign aid & trade. Unfortunately they're also the ones in power right now. The younger generation (millennials and Z's) are the business developers. We want to do things differently. And we are trying despite the roadblocks the government puts in front if us like excessive taxes and zero incentives and others.

Africa needs to get everyone out like China did all those years so it can become strong on its own.
@MyDubsteb
@MyDubsteb 8 жыл бұрын
That could work, but China did not become strong totally on its own. they also had soviet help and imported most of the technology from developed countries. China is much further because they implemented a two child policy. The fertility rate dropped from 6 in 1970 to 2 in 1993. This way they could invest all their resources in their children, who could than become much more productive than their parents. Unfortunately most African countries dont invest in their human capital that much. Probably because its difficult with a fertility rate that is too high. But some African countries do this. Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritius and Botswana all have a fertility rate around world average. Rwanda, Kenya and Ethiopia are also rapidly developing because of the declining fertility rate of 4 and still declining.
@purpleglitter9596

@MyDubsteb

@@purpleglitter9596 Yes but that is due to cultural preference for boys and one child policy, which was indeed the cause for this. If the average is 2 children, then there is a replacement population and no overpopulation like in the past in China and the rest of the world and now in some African countries.

China did not simply get strong after Mao having gotten everyone out. In fact, tens of millions of Chinese people died due to starvation and political terror under Mao’s rule. It only got strong after Den initiated the “open and reform initiative” by adopting capitalism, reopening trades and playing with the west’s rule.

China is not just dominating Africa, China is dominating the world. Ask the Americans how much of their debt is owned by the Chinese? Ask the Americans how many of their factories had to shut down business and relocate operations to China, to explore their cheap labor and gigantic consumer market? Ask the Portuguese and the Italians how many of their excellent shoe and clothing factories had to close as a result of trade with China? In order to bring balance world leaders should draft better trade regulations. Africa used to have limited options when it came to trade and development partners especially during the time when former colonial masters were controlling most or all means of production. China is offering a better alternative than that which Europe and America combined were unable to give Africa. On a lighter note we all know that the west broke... And they envy some of the deals China is getting in Africa.

China is becoming a superpower ,that is replacing the old European and American colonialist powers I think Africa should develop it's own industries,and train it's people,and become in time more independent Africa is a continent that has the most important raw materials that are needed to the modern industries,so they should use them for theyr own benefit,and not for the benefit of colonial powers

It is ironic how Al-Jazeera's journalists debate "Empire" in Africa and they fail to mention the sort of leverage and influence that Arab countries (and even Iran) have had on the continent. So you have criticism of France for recently intervening in Mali, but there is absolutely no mention of the financial sponsorship of Arab Kingdoms of Radical Muslim movements from the Touaregs in Mali to Boko Haram(Nigeria). Also there is the perpetuation of the portrayal of Africans as children who need to be told what to do and free from responsibility for what happens in their countries. So overall this was an incomplete overview of the imperial relations on the continent...

There will always be an external force exploiting & influencing Africa if Africans don't wake up & forge their destiny having in mind future generations. Unite, figjht curruption, create their own markets amongst themselves within the continent, add value to products, , educate the masses & crate incentives to reverse the brain drainage, have a common currency, passport to eliminate restrictions of movement across borders, fight to eradicate poverty & so on & so forth.

Great documentary, In this 21 century Africa people must rise with new ways of thinking, take control of our own politics, economy, education, social issues, history and ideology . The only way it can be done is through educating the next generation of Pan- Africanism. if development comes with price of debt that will make us a salves to our lenders, we don't want development, we rather be living in caves and go hunting and fishing and live with dignity and pride.

As long as they need money to survive, people will continue mining for profit and destroy many of the rainforests/rivers of the world. Some electronic companies purposely make their products break down easily so that people will keep buying. And for your information, I haven't bought any new electronics in 6 years, not lying. I use an old model laptop and cell phone.

Nice man, if you repair it if it breaks that would mean those companies have one less customer. I will try to boycot too! But nobody needs money to survive, money cannot be eaten. Not only that but you are a hypocrite that consumes the same stuff as me, buys the same neocolonial goods from the same neocolonial multinationals. If you believe aid enslaves you, than dont accept it! Indonesia is doing fine despite all this colonisation by the dutch, you know why? I’ve watched 100’s of hours of videos concerning Africa before I visit next year. In fact, I watched this video last year and to revisit it again opened my eyes even further. My eyes see why there are over 10 countries with military bases in Africa. Even India, has gotten into the act. Africa is prime for exploitation and if an African leader dares to challenge the exploitation they are eliminated and replaced by a “friendly” leader who will kiss the ring or die. The question then becomes who will stop them? Or can they be stopped?

I'm not anti Chinese or western looters, I'm anti exploitation, anti degradation and anti oppression and if they don't want us to be anti them, they should stop oppressing, degrading and exploiting us. I'm not anti development, I'm for us, we, the people who are victims of foreign aids, victims of Chinese developments. Victims of bad leadership. Victims of Swiss accounts. Victims of everything bad happening here. No, we've suffered enough, we've watched them for quite long as they steal, loot, eat and rob us of our pride. It's our time! As an African, I can assure you that very few Africans are even concerned. Those who happen to complain against the Western aggression in the continent eg in the comment section are mostly Africans in the diaspora or very few educated folks. Majority of the population is gripped in the pursuit for materialism and religious delusions. Don't waste your time, don't condemn yourself and your country. Africans since the beginning of time have created the conditions necessary for foreigners to confuse them and feast off them. Africans live one day at a time.

As a western educated African, I can only say that EDUCATION is the KEY. We need to educate ourselves and our kids about our history and especially knowing that nobody cares about you but you. When we realise that then that's when perhaps we start to do what is right for Africa. let's stop questioning what someone's tribe and that kind of nonsense is and lets do what is right for our people who are suffering due to no fault of their own. peace

I could write an encyclopedia in my own Perspectives on this global scramble for the resources of Afrika. All countries in that Continent should' and must unite' or Compromise its differences and help' Love, Stand together. Or Africa will never reach its full potential. How much longer will you let the outside world Control you like slaves? You are the ones sitting on Wealth and prosperity, You should be dropping food-grain and commodities on other countries.

Africa must drastically reduce the exporting of raw materials to other countries who will use them in their manufacturing process, to in turn sell those finished products to the African people. Africa MUST become a manufacturing continent, rather than export raw materials, Africa must export finished products. This is the main reason why western nations have failed to develop any sustainable infrastructure in Africa.They do not want a competitor as large as Africa. Africa has more unused land than any other continent, land that could be turned into African owned industrial parks. CHINA is a means to an end, and a much better partner than our former slave owners.

You need infrastructure first, before jumping like India to service industry. It takes steps. Follow China's steps and China's success can be duplicated in Africa. Western propaganda presents China as a taker? China pays well and have forgiven debts to more than 30 countries. China put up satellites for Africa. When a nation gets rich, some get rich first before others. It is entirely normal.
