Another cool vid Chris, well done. As for the "field GMT" watch, I think Seiko just made a "fashion field/GMT" and the reason I say this, is because, like you stated, the lume. Most field watches the numbers is what you want to see at night, but then you add the functionality of a 24hr GMT or second time zone, then you really want those to be lume also. You have the aesthetics of a field/GMT military styled watch, but some of the functionality is not there. Overall, the watch looks good, excellent dimensions and I agree with your points. I think that in about another couple of months you may find this model in the low 300 or high 200 in special sales. Anyway another great vid!

3:40 - 4:10 PREACH, CHRIS!!!! It's so irritating that such a cool-looking daily beater like this gets killed with the inclusion of a domed hardlex crystal. That crystal wouldn't last a week on my left-handed, lefty-watch wearing wrist. That being said, I do really like the design, and will probably pick one up when they fall to around $300 (and then foot the bill to replace the crystal.....).
@jaroslavklos61897 ай бұрын
I really like it when this watch was introduced but it has quite a tall profile. Single domed hardlex doesn't look nice. Typical lack of Seiko quality (just look at the gap between the case and bracelet - typical Seiko thing) together with this price easily makes this one easy to pass. Thank you for review.

Yes!👏 I literally just ordered one from Teddy as well. It just shipped out today. These guys complaining about a GMT that has Hardlex. For the price, where else are you going to find this quality of a GMT? Just get the watch and replace the Hardlex with Sapphire if it bothers you that much. But scratches are part of a watches story. Over time you'll get scratches and nicks on the bracelet itself if you wear it long enough.

I don't get the beefs on the Seiko 5s. Hardlex, clasp, etc. Yeah, if they beef those up, the price moves up. So, these are the things they do to keep the watch accessible, they are in fact 'features' for an affordable good watch. Everybody wants more for the same price, that's natural, but it's not realistic. You'll be at a $500 or $600 watch for the goodies. On the other hand, if they can be customised, then the money you saved on the cheaper watch can go into your goodies in your own good time and by your own good choice.

I don’t think Seiko will ever put sapphire on their entry level watches. They need to differentiate and justify the high price of their other watches. I like the look of this field gmt. Definitely tempted to buy one if I can get a good discount.
@ajmarion7 ай бұрын
Exactly, they never will. They easily could, but then there would be much less reason for people to buy the more expensive pieces, where there margins are significantly better. It’s all about the upsell
@raytheman88525 ай бұрын
People buy expensive watch because it's expensive. If Seiko puts a sapphire glass on this one, then people will not buy higher models of Seiko, but are willing to for other brands. People simply won't accept that Seiko also has a right to increase its price.

I would totally be on board if it wasn't the double 24hr scale. If the outer bezel moved, that would be one thing. Having an inner 24 hour scale and outer one that serve the same purpose is just something that would bug me every time I looked at it. Sorry to those that would have been happy with this watch having never noticed it and now can't stop seeing it.
@typebflieger7 ай бұрын
The two scales don’t serve the same purpose. The outer scale is a 24 hour scale for the GMT hand, which makes one revolution per day. The inner scale tracks the PM hours 12-24, corresponding to the hour hand, which makes two revolutions per day. One is for tracking another time zone and one is useful for military time or those who live in countries that tell time in 24hr increments. Definitely not the same purpose.
@robocopvn7 ай бұрын
This is not 24h twice on the watch. Since the purpose and the meaning is totally different. Read below: - The 13-24 hours inside ring is jumping 1 hour per 1 hour mark. It helps you to read the hour hand in military time: - The 1-24 hours bezel ring is jumping 2 hour per 1 hour mark. It helps you to read the GMT hand. Don't look at the 12 hour mark and see the same 2 -24h then say they are the same. Take a look at the 6 hour mark for example, you see the inside ring is 18, while the bezel is 12 !!

These guys complaining about the Hardlex. Ridiculous. They act like Hardlex is so fragile that they can just take a finger nail and put a whole bunch of scratches in it. One of the benefits of Seiko using Hardlex is that they can get this GMT down to a pricepoint that beats the competition. Adding sapphire would easily increase the price to $500 or more. But to get a GMT of this quality at between $375 and $430. It's a great deal. Clearly there are a lot of anti-Hardlex snobs. Then don't buy a Seiko. You already know what the deal is when you are considering buying one. Either stop complaining about the fact that they aren't using sapphire or buy the watch and just replace the Hardlex with sapphire if it bothers you that much.
