The New Wavemagnet Direction Finder on the Realistic SW-100 Multiband Radio has been modified. On this video ( show one weak station only) I compared it to the original coil, which has been moved inside by the installed antenna switch. I've been told multiple times that removing the direction finder is a mistake because it’s a unique feature of this design. In contrast,
I decided to extend and enlarge the direction finder antenna length by 200 percent. After removing the original antenna rod from the case, I kept it and added two extra rods to the ends of the original. Now the antenna is three times as long. I also added an antenna switch, allowing you to compare the two antennas at any moment: the original direction finder coil and the extended rod antenna coil in the direction finder.
Naturally, I needed to create a new coil with the same inductance to ensure it tunes properly with the original circuit. This video showcases the very first test of the newly extended direction finder antenna. Yes, it works as well as you can hear in the video. In the future, I may create more videos using the antenna switch on various stations. The radio's AVC functions very well, so I don’t experience any distortion, even at our high power (50 kW) from a distance of three miles.
