Thank you! Very interesting info. Personally, I'm way more interested in 140 fans since my system cooled by 280rad. And I hope you will do it soon. I'd like to suggest a few points for a more extensive testing: 1. Pull vs Push config test. Some fans do better when pulling air through rad, while others while pushing air through the rad. I find the pull configuration more practical as there is almost no buildup of dust between the fan and rad - way easier to clean and does not require to unscrew the fans from the rad. I think there are less ppl replacing fans on AIO than ppl building custom loops. So 2-3 is more oriented for custom loop builders as they do have choice. Though I do understand that it is more complicated, requires additional HW and much more time. 2. Typical 30 mm rads, typically come with 16-25FPI. It would be much more informative to have info on performance on both ends (low vs high restriction) 3. It would be very helpful to see the performance of the fans on rads with different thickness. For example 30mm 16FPI vs 45mm 16FPI vs 60 16FPI.

Last time I bought fans for a custom loop build I nerded out and did a somewhat scientific flow test (with a wind meter) between a couple of different fans and came to the conclusion that Silent Wings 3 (1600rpm version) had the best performance to noise ratio on the market. Maybe I should have recorded it and put it up here but I'm not a youtuber (yet) so couldn't be bothered. Let me know though if you are interested in a comparison between Silent Wings 3 and 4.
@efovex
@efovex Жыл бұрын
Hey, I'd be interested in that! I've noticed something similar in the one direct Silent Wings 3 vs. 4 comparison I've seen before - the SW4 (at least the 140mm version) appear to be a downgrade in terms of airflow and static pressure. They also seem to consume much more power than SW3 because they have to spin faster to move the same amount of air. But some reviewers say the opposite so I'm confused.
@variator7466
@variator7466 Жыл бұрын
@@efovex I think I've heard somewhere that the only difference between SW 3 and 4 is that 3 is designed to be in pulling config and 4 in push. The cirkular intake is in opposite directions on 3 vs 4, so it would be interesting to see how big impact this has.

@Aexeq
@Aexeq 2 жыл бұрын
You are already on the right track with the bigger fan blades, just not tested what they might be worth for. The bigger fan blades apparently should increase static pressure, so if you use all those fans on a dense radiator, the SWP4 might just outperform the A12x25. Now let's say you build a dual radiator T1V2. Spaces are so freakin tight you will need all the static pressure you can get. That's why the SWP4 might just be better than they seem like.

Can you explain more about pressure issues? What was your solution?
@jaymacpherson8167
@jaymacpherson8167 Жыл бұрын
@@dougleydorite Fans have different static pressure capabilities. Some fans are capable of pushing “x” amount of flow at higher back-pressures than other fans, and thus move more air. The T 30 has a higher static pressure capability than any of the BeQuiet fans, and more than many Noctua fans. I’m not sure what you mean by “what was my solution.” I have used T 30 where I have a denser dust filter, or simply want more of the air entering the case to come through that face.
@silvershines
@silvershines Жыл бұрын
Problem with T30 is the airflow isn't that focused. That fan is only exceptional if you use it as a radiator fan or inside a SFF build. If you're just using the T30 as a case fan it's mediocre; it's objectively worse than a Noctua A12x25 and BQ SW4 as a case fan in most cases. A few guys already tested it, there's a written article by hwcooling. There's also a small KZbin channel who compared all the top fans up against the Noctua industrials in a noise normalised setting across their entire rpm range.

Building a new high-end PC, trying to decide on what size fans. My case is an NZXT H710 Flow. It will have 3 filtered intake (front), 4 exhaust (3 top radiator, 1 rear). My concern is keeping a more positive pressure without too much hassle. Would I be better off going with 3 140mm in the front, and keeping the rear/top at 120mm? I wasn't sure if there would be a drawback to using 140mm fans in the front and a 120mm in the rear. Thanks for any advice. Great video!

Does anyone know if the silent wings 4 pro makes a substantial difference in temps when compared to the silent wings 4? I want to have all my fans be the same in my case with all silent wings 4, however if the radiator corners actually make a difference for aio cooling I'll just grab a few of them for my radiator.

i have all high speed fans in my system (be quiet) . i'd like to switch 3 fans in my system to silent wings 4 pro . i like the design and sound of be quiet. only the cheap fans they make don't sound as good because the motor is smaller and louder. on a normal day . the fans only spin at 1000rpm . but with high speed fans i have a lot of reserve for hot summer days. i also have a windsimulator with 2 6000rpm antminer fans . so i don't hear much else when gaming besides that and the game itself.

I don't think these tests account for the static pressure curve of each fan, do they? The RPM, noise, and static pressure are all interconnected and determined by the physical design of the fan - or is this all effectively accounted for by the graph at 5:53 basically making RPM irrelevant which means static pressure and noise are the only variables of relevance, and the graph basically serves as a proxy for static pressure / air flow (since CPU temp should be directly proportional, right?) does anything i'm saying make sense

You keep saying supple about the blades. They're not. The 30% fiberglass filler added will significantly increase the stiffness of the blades(so the opposite of supple) versus older beQuiet designs. That's how they reduced the gap between the blade tip and frame, less straightening and flex at high RPMs.
@libertyprime9307
@libertyprime9307 2 жыл бұрын
Wasn't he comparing it to the Noctua? Which had 0.5mm smaller gap, so by that reasoning maybe it's still less rigid.
@Grimmwoldds
@Grimmwoldds 2 жыл бұрын
@@libertyprime9307 He's saying the blades are "supple" with no comparison. They're not. Supple refers to flexibility, and these are the opposite, stiff. I think he's confusing it with graceful or streamlined.

@@Grimmwoldds I think he was trying to say they're lower density. Something can be lightweight but still very rigid.

Hi Can you do a comparison video in NR200 with Nh u9s and L12s coolers? Because in my country India. Neither the c14s nor the U12A is available at MSRP . None of the scythe products are available.. Waiting for a long time .. B/W 12s and U9s .

At some point, yes! Am hoping to test against the new 140mm from Noctua when it does come out, otherwise there’s not much of a comparison right now other than the P14.

Aesthetically looks better than the brown Noctua and is normal thickness compared to the T30 so will have more case/rad compatibility. If they can be priced lower than both would be hard to pass up.

That’s a terrible place for a speed switch!!! Other than that it sounds like a really good fan. The Scythe Glide stream 120mm fan that comes with my Ninja 4 has similar ridges in the blades and it has a 3 position switch on the outside frame of the fan. I really like the way ridges look on fan blades and I wonder how they impact the airflow?? Noctua is to pricey & I can’t stand the Noctua colors😂

What are your best recommendations for overall price to performance on case fans?
@MachinesMore
@MachinesMore 2 жыл бұрын
Arctic P12 is the easy recommendation here especially in multi pack… super good value. For a higher end build the new Silent Wings 4 are more polished in terms of noise and build quality- although I don’t think you’ll see a meaningful difference in performance under 1000 RPM.
