Also, I’d already kind of started experimenting with this serve before I saw this video, and I appreciate the tips to make it better. I’ve also tried the sharp, short banana serve in the deuce court so it just makes it past the service line and goes way wide. It’s slower so it spins away much more sharply. Maybe an add on video talking about that option? When done properly and unexpectedly, it’s an ace.

this is very similar to one of my favorite weapons, i call it my downwind serve. but to do it I dont carve around the ball, you just accelerate from behind your right foot to your left shoulder, thinking about driving through 1/3rd of the ball and not through the center. not carving around the ball keeps the spin up the back more than promoting side spin but there are many times i will add some side spin by changing the shape of the swing. aiming through the 1/3 of the ball spins the ball with much more RPM than my normal serve but takes off speed as im not driving through the ball like normal. but just like you are talking about with the banana serve i can disguise this serve as a normal serve that normally attacks the opponents baseline by being driven low, but this serve is left about two feet above the net, you will see alot of people mis read the serve early as going to fall deep of the line and when it falls off the table and gets down it will catch them off guard. the other way this catches people off guard, when you see a player that will crowd the base line has a nice low paddle and is quick off the line for a short serve, when i see this i know i have them, because it comes down from higher than normal and is spinning hard you can get the ball to bounce up to chest height doing this on a "crasher" jams them up and will normally end up in a weak return. especially when they have received a couple serves that dont bounce very high from my normal serve where i drive through more of the center of the ball.

Thanks for the great contents.👍. However, you didn't mention what grips are the best for the different serves. I remembered that in one of your previous videos, you mentioned that continental grip is good for screw serve. Does the continental grip apply here for the banana serve? 🤔
@EnhancePickleballАй бұрын
No, use an eastern on this serve. Good catch, I forgot to mention that.
@D34WeezАй бұрын
Connor if you are used to a drop serve, could you still do the screwball serve as effectively? Or do you have to learn how to hit the ball from a throw?
@michaelfinny7538Ай бұрын
Did you really not notice that your buddy tripped over the net and fell over as you were ending your video? Or was that an intentional set up? 😂😂
@nephipowerАй бұрын
If I am using western grip normally for serves, would that work well for banana serves or would you recommend a different grip?
@EnhancePickleballАй бұрын
I would recommend trying to use this technique with your current grip and see if it works. I'd imagine you may need to tweak it slightly for the banana
@ComedyTragedy12Ай бұрын
Your videos are great but on a videos like this I would love to see the actual serve close-up in slow motion rather than you doing it without the ball slowly
@ColeRusselPBАй бұрын
lol this is already my serve but I contact from down at my ankles and more like a drive but I’m carving the side of the ball spinning it the same way. I almost have to move my right leg out of the way just to make contact.

Question, what’s your thoughts on playing Pickleball in a Paddle sized court? I’m trying to find ways to improve as I keep losing to my siblings, we don’t have a regular Pickleball court anywhere around and I’ve found some fun in this format as well lol Would you say taking advice from Pickleball videos with standard court sizes is productive, or should I maybe look towards Paddle related videos? I’m a novice to racket sports so I’m at a loss here. Any advice from anybody would be greatly appreciated !
@LeapopsАй бұрын
Some ideas. 1) get some tape (or markers) and mark out pickle ball court on paddle court 2) find a wall. Great for practising reflex volleys and dink feel. You should spend most of your time at the net in pickle ball. 3) find a badminton court. The dimensions are really similar to pickle ball. Most important is to practice loads. None of this is rocket science! Good luck!

why i always hit my head when using this serve 😂
@scottweatherup3565Ай бұрын
There is nothing new about banana serves. I've seen many players use this serve. I use this as a short serve and hit just past the kitchen line and close to the outside line. It is nearly unreturnable when it is placed correctly.
@Only2jendersАй бұрын
Not sure I heard him say it's new. I thought about trying to switch to the opposite hand with the screwball to have it curve the other way but like this idea and easier to practice. Thanks!
@debbieplueger6199Ай бұрын
I do the same serve and didn’t even realize it was a banana serve 😂 You are correct, rarely is the serve returnable! It’s the ace up my sleeve when serving 😊
