If you are still getting black bars, simply change the aspect ratio on your monitor to 16:9

don't know if anyone else got this problem but for me when i changed back to native res the quality of everything on my screen got really bad, all i had to do was switch back to gpu scaling and check in the ''Override the scaling mode set by games and programs'' box and it got fixed

Working Dec 2023 :) Some fixes for ya'll: 1. No 1720 x 1080 option in display settings: DONT delete the extension blocks in CRU. Don't delete anything inside of it either, just do everything else jerian says (copy the values from the lowest option). 2. In the display settings after running restart64.exe, make sure the refresh rate is on 60hz (before you go into the settings outside of the default windows setting app).

This semi works: Issue - I get a "no signal" if I switch to 1720x1080 @ 240hz but if I use 200hz I get black bars left/right with active signal still on 1920 and desktop mode on 1720. If someone is getting black bars follow these steps, 1. Don’t delete the Extension blocks, if you have no worries at the top where you can select the monitor you can select the monitors the way to the right select delete and redo all the steps except deleting the extension block, Hope it helps!

That happened for me once. I went into my monitors built in settings with the buttons and make sure your Screen Size settings are on 16:9 and not Auto. Idk if it will work for you bit it did for me.

did exactly what you said but got this error: The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 1920*1080, 60hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specification. I have a 60hz monitor so will see if that got messed up

@@Pulanily yes, When I pasted my settings in I switched it to 240hz because I thought I could do that. It didnt work, so I changed it to 60hz. Then, used the restart64.exe. After everything looked very contrasted compared to usual. I restarted my pc and loaded fortnite. It then worked!

In setting a you can go to display and minimize your screen until the black bars are gone It will zoom your screen bit but it worked for me

if you want to keep 1920x1080 at the highest refresh rate too. add 2 detailed res. 1 - your fortnite res and 2 - 1920. all you do is press paste in detailed res!

@@cssq. same for me, your hdmi cable isnt strong enough to support 144hz, either get a new one or just thug it out. It will feel the same as normal.

@@cssq. no but i just use gpu scaling because i dont see any reputable or notable reasearch on whether or not there is a difference and if there is one its probably so small its unnoticable so just use gpu scaling

@@cssq. 120 hz or fps? , if its hz, you either deleted one of the wrong blocks on cru or your hdmi cable isnt good enough for 240, if fps you may want to check your settings or change your fps in alphares

Everyone who this doesn't work for its probably your monitor or pc not having the right things needed for this to work or being outdated if you want your display to go back to normal how it was before you tried to get stretch res go to the CRU folder and double click the reset-all application and it should go back to normal

so after i restarted, i went to list all modes and my stretch wasnt there. then i went back to nvidia control panel to may see if something was wrong and my scaling changed on its own from display to gpu and i couldnt switch it back to display scaling, If you know how to fix this please help me im so confused.

i’m almost 110% sure i did every step correctly, i even went as far as watching the video 4 times, every time i did every single step correctly but still can’t get 1720 to pop up as a resolution i can use, i also tried watching hunchogorrs video but when i clicked on the resolution my screen went from black, to a greyish black, then to white, then to red, then to green, then to blue and then it didn’t switch me to 1720 by 1080. someone plz help???

FIX ... Go to Nvidea control panel , change res, add custom res , add 1750 x 1080 ( or whatever u want ) . apply then do the final step again ... SUIIII

For anyone who has trouble read this comment. I messed up or missed a step cs it went black and my wallpaper was wired. So I restarted everything and shut my pc off. When I tried turning it back on it was just a grey screen. I was able to get into safe mode but that didn’t help me at all. So if your on the grey screen. You have to have a second monitor to do this. All you have to do is turn your second monitor off and just sign it and make your main monitor your main but going into settings, display and then click on your monitors and make your main the main one.

for those of u who have black borders all u gotta do is go to ur fortnite settings and switch to “windows full screen” and then confirm and then u wanna switch back to “full screen” and u should be all set.

I tried this almost 5 months ago and it stuck my pc at 60hz, when i tried again today it did the same thing... not sure if this is happening for any one else or not but would love if somebody new a fix! Ended up resetting my entire pc last time and i really wouldnt want to do that again.

Guys if you just stopped wanting to do it in the middle of using display scalling and something happened where your monitor stopped working unplug the power cable for the monitor then wait 30 seconds then plug it back on then everything should go back to normal
