I get this perspective but it honestly could have been the best move possible as well. The segment of the market that the light bee created is definitely the most popular but as you can see from what E-ride and talaria have delivered it has the most competition. It may not seem like it given the perspective that this particular e-moto community has but the 50cc/65cc moto scene is huge and people spend a ton of money on the smaller pit bikes. Especially in the Jr. racing scene. I think electric bikes are very attractive to people with kids that are already spending pretty crazy money on modifying and supporting those bikes. Why not try to break into a new demographic that doesn't really have great options and improve on the ultra platform rather than focus on the platform that looks like you will have to cut margins to the minimum to be competitive?

Great video these are the kind of discussions we need to push this industry and production quality in the right direction. I feel like they all need to up their game on suspension, brakes and durability of the frames. Now that people are starting to jump bigger jumps with them. I can only imagine 5-10yrs years down the line how sick these bikes are going to be stock🤙

Ive been set on getting the e ride, but since the MX5 came out i'm holding off until I can see some more comparisons such as battery and suspension. I'm also a bigger rider (275lbs) so would love to hear how the e ride which is rated up to 300lbs compares to the MX5.

If I were a product engineer, I would bring in a couple of real dirt bikes and say to the crew, this is what a dirt bike looks like and works like. We have to make an electric one that works like a dirt bike!! As for throttle issues, those can be programmed... The issue is poor setup and logic in the "PCM". Look at it like this... Most modern cars are "fly by wire". The PCM has a truth table in it. The throttle pedal has a sensor like the E moto's throttle does. If I do a sloppy throttle curve in the PCM, you drive it and hit 25% throttle, it goes wide open... Get the picture? That is all programmable in the Variable Frequency Drive. That lovely cigar box with the 3 phase motor wires landed on it can and does need throttle curve programming done. Phase amps also plays into this. Get that done and suddenly we have driveability! Brakes... Basically, they are an F350 equipped with brakes intended for a Tercel. What a bloody law suit attempting to happen!! The E' itself. A rather flexible looking frame and swing arm, stands to reason that chain drop should be a regular part of their operation since the chainline is not going to run straight at all times. The E Moto has come along but still has a long way to go. Reliability and sturdy chassis. Battery technology and range. Same for EV's that are being pushed!! We cannot fuel em up as quickly as a gasser. The bloody batteries are over the top expensive. I'll give it this, this new industry is very competitive now. They are trying to improve their products at an alarming rate. Hat's off to them for this!! Prices are going to moderate as this segment leaves infancy and matures. Am I seeing an E Moto on my radar? You betcher ass I am. Looking forward to your testing and review of the 5!!

Awesome bike but with its weight 45 a.h or 50 would of helped range. But per suronsters video the mx5r did destroy the eride pross and mx4r in race and uphill climb. Dot fluid brakes are sic larger calipers and beefier transmition rocks

Its the 520 chain as well. They are heavy, its a full size dirt bike chain. Not sure why they chose to do that, maybe theyre just getting to powerful for the tiny 420 chains. However, a bonus is that the chain and sprockets will last longer. The new Gearbox is also massive and has some really nice new gearbox mounts in 2 spots now i believe. But much better in that regard, which strengthens up the gearbox as well by forming more mounting points to fight the torque. The brakes are also dirt bike sized now and if you ever roll a dirt bike they dont roll super easily like a MX4 or a surron. If youre going to want to use it offroad like me though its perfect, just wish it had some more range yeah. But if its close to the MX4 id be happy.

Sting r l3e is better than the mx5 pro, for multple reasons, one of them is the longevity of the batery, the price is cheaper and because being a 125cc you have the plan moves, something that the 50cc like the mx5 pro don’t have, and you have 1,100€ back to your pocket, With this cheaper price you can make many improvements, be happy with your bike man 🤙

I think it depends on whether they've changed the geometry of the frame and bolt-on configuration. Aftermarket controllers give you a lot of control and let you change between different battery voltages, motors etc. the MX5 has a redesigned gearbox, so if you go for MX5 gear, you'll probably need to get the controller, motor and gearbox all at once. And if they've changed frame geometry or connection points, it's not going to work. I'd say after-market is the way to go...

@mixmastamikal
@mixmastamikal 3 ай бұрын
Range on these bikes is pretty impossible to quantify. It depends completely on where and how you are riding. If you are going wide open on pavement/city streets you will drain it super fast. On slow speed single track you will get way more. If you are capable of using more power (13.5 kw vs. 12kw) and you are using it you are going to drain the battery faster. This should be pretty obvious. If you keep it in ECO or sport you will get more range. Learning to use the manual brake regen could help a little in this regard but really the biggest benefit is reducing brake wear and fade from over heating. I love that feature as well as the light switch.

I have an Eride pro as 2.0. The 2.0’s don’t have a turbo- instead the gearing has turbo included throughout. Honestly torque and top end is not the problem with the Eride. I can’t imagine choosing a different bike because of those two specs. What they should work on is suspension, tires, brakes and rotors. Power is perfect for the Eride but all those other categories is what you will be ‘upgrading’ I just put a set of trp dhr evo brakes on mine with 220/2.3 mm rotors on. I love my ERide but I would have e gladly spent more money for wider rear tire, better suspension, and better brakes.

Until they fix the geometry, it’s a no from me. I owned two Talaria Sting MX4s, and the geometry is problematic. The bike tends to dart left or right if you take your hands off the bars, and it pitches you into the seat due to how the bike is set up. My friend had one with 16/19 wheels, and they didn’t help the geometry either. Both bikes also had issues with the forks. If the star nut was tight enough to eliminate play in the bearings, the forks would bind. If it was too loose, there was play and slop.
@mixmastamikal
@mixmastamikal 3 ай бұрын
Really is a two fold problem. Even with proper support and suspension the head tube angle is a little too steep to give proper stability. Yes, this can be corrected by aftermarket forks like the EXT ferro that has shorter offset of the axle as well as longer axle to crown measurement and much better mid stroke support. But really it is not ideal to have such big geometry problems from a stock platform. Something that is interesting to me is that none of these companies are publishing geometry numbers such as wheel base, rake, and rear center.
