So many Swiss brands are at a price point that makes them inaccessible to vast swathes of watch buyers. What I appreciate about Tissot is that their watches are at a price that most can afford, while not sacrificing the quality that Swiss watch making is known for. That is why appreciate Teddy for featuring their models so often.

Great video, I do think the 80hr power reserve is a bit of a gimmick though, a lot of people that care enough to buy an automatic watch will likely have more than 1 and if you’re going to wear this mon-fri etc then it’ll keep winding all week anyway, lots of us swap watches out and I’d rather have the slightly smaller, more visually appealing watch than a bigger one that’ll keep running longer, and the same goes for most of the swatch group entry level watches
@kallehakkanen21893 жыл бұрын
An important notion on readability: at some angles the polished hands completely disappear into the dark dial. Brushed hands might have eliminated this problem. I have the older generation Visodate with the white dial, readability is okay in most situations with that combination.

Hey Teddy. In most of your reviews, for the wrist shot you usually to either your wrist or another person's 7.1 inch wrist. It maybe useful to include wrist shots of both sizes moving forwards. Since most of the customers are going to be individuals that can only see the product online, it may be useful to have both wrist shots to give a better sense of the size. It would most certainly help with the brands that you're one of the few authorized dealers for like Junghans and Muhle Glashutte.

I have easily regulated powermatic by myself to +/-0.5 sec. You have to tern two screws on the balance wheal inwards in order to fasten or outwards to slow down. The tern has to be very very slight. As my experience it took much less time for me to achieve such accuracy compared when i regulated 2824-2 by turning one regulator screw.

Two easy fixes for Tissot to make a really awesome watch: make it way smaller (36-38mm) and ditch the day wheel. For me the Visodate is the best watch under $ 1000. I had tried a few Gentleman watches but both are not comparable: 1. The design is terrific. The Visodate is perfected. For example, the second arrow goes al the way to the bezel which is better 2. The dial color changes based on the light. The blue compared to Gentleman is better. It has better blending based on the light. 3. The complication is better having also day & date. 4. The way Tissot logo is displayed the same way as it was in 1931. For me this is better because it is history and makes it more unique. 5. The watch movement is great as well. It is hard for me to say if Silicium or Nivachron is better. But Nivachron is made of of titanium.

I just bought a brand new Visodate (old model), I had to buy it from an AD bc Tissot no longer sells them. And I even had to look through half of the Internet to find an AD still selling it. I found out that it got hairline scratches to the left and some mini bums on the top right lug (like some deeper hairline scratches at the edge). I wanted to have another one but they told me that this was the last model left. So since the old Visodate model in my eyes is PERFECTION I kept it because I couldnt find it anywhere else its a shame. My question now is, do you know if Tissot can polish PVD? Its a gold pvd visodate. Or would it be possible to let the whole case exchanged? Since this is literally my dream watch money wouldnt really matter for me if its not more that like 400 or so which i doubt bc the watch itself was only 590. thx in advance!

I have had the previous version of the Visodate for about 5 years now and it is such great value for the money. Funny enough I recently took it out of the case after a couple years as I would only wear it in the office. As a small wrister, I prefer the previous 40mm version, along with the text on the dial. 49mm lug to lug is probably a bit too big for my 6.3 inch wrist (the older one is 47mm lug to lug and seems to be pushing it for me as is, although the case sits comfortably). Although the increased power reserve and longer minute hands on the new version are great additions! I am thinking about getting the milanese strap (currently using an aftermarket black strap) to make it more casual. Great review, cheers! :)

In the $500 range for an automatic watch---what do you do in terms of spending the money when they need to be serviced? Do you spend $500 + to get it serviced or just throw it away? This to me makes it somewhat a false value. It's discouraging to throw away a watch that you really enjoy.

Great review Teddy, it certainly looks good in the blue colour. The movement of the day/date position is an interesting choice though as it will be obscured more my the longer minute hand. I have the older (current) model that is once of the few watches that still has the '3' marker with the day/date window adjacent, the shorter minute hand allows the date to be read still even at 15 minutes past the hour as you can see around the hand. The re-styled lug is an improvement over the more industrial look of my watch and the new case sides look like they no longer taper outwards towards the case bottom, something that allowed the old model to wear smaller than it's quoted dimensions. The change to the Powermatic 80 movement does not really bother me although I prefer that smoother tick of the sweep seconds hand at the 28800 VPM of the old ETA but I have a couple of other Swatch group watches with the PM 80 and have no issue with them. I may just have to have a look at this new model at the AD when I have time although at the moment I'm more than happy with my old version. It would be interesting to see how this one compares to the Gentleman by Tissot.
