Just wanted to leave a thank you comment! This video really helped me mentally prepare myself for the exam. Before the new toefl I got a 29 in reading but this time I got a 27 and 113 in total. Also as a Korean I kind of enjoyed watching this video. But I didn't get ANY private tutors preparing for toefl but a lot of people here do for sure Anyways thank you!!!

Glad you enjoyed it! Some of the best books are published by Hackers and Pagoda. Look for their "Actual Test" books as they don't require Korean language skills to use. They contain the most accurate practice tests you will find, other than ETS stuff.

There’s a special website from ETS for Koreans to learn English and pass TOEFL exam, by the way it’s funny website from ETS because teaching in Korean English and all books or structures are in KOR-Eng~ even there’s another website for Chinese~

This was great. Any chance you could proivde a link to the article by the Japanese researcher who focused on the relevance of using templates. I'd really like to read it. Thanks!

Of course! Here is a link to my blog post about it: www.toeflresources.com/blog/toefl-gangnam-style/ Here is a link to the article itself: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1075293521000337 However, that article is behind the paywall of a scholarly journal. You may have to buy it.

@@Toeflresources Man, that was quick. Really appreciate it. I've been a TOEFL teacher for over 20 years. Hated the fact that they ditched Task 2 for Writing, but after taking a look at those sample exams and trying them out, I'm getting used to it. I feel this new task is going to kill anyone trying to go for those template styles, which I've always hated. Students always ask for templates or shortcuts to score high on the productive skills of the exam. I've always felt that one has to actually learn the basics first. No one wants to learn the fundamentals of the language, such as verb mistakes, tense mistakes, active-passive mistakes, subject-verb agreement issues, singular-plural mistakes let alone the use of articles, determiners and correct word choice. All they want is a "template" they can follow and adapt to any question asked -- like some kind of magic bullet that will resolve all their issues. I have done some of those sample tests with and without referring to the students and still scored a 5. I did get a 0 once, though. Now that I've watched this video, it might be because I wrote over 200 words. Still, I do feel it'd be great if ETS clearly stated whether having to refer to students' comments is expected or not.

@@muratbatmaz Yeah, I'm not crazy about the new task either. I think that preparing for the independent task involves working on a much wider range of skills. They should have cut out the integrated task... but getting the test below two hours was obviously a priority. But we'll see. Maybe the new task will work out in the end.

"My TOEFL test is on August 26th. After hearing this conversation, I felt anxious. I was optimistic about the changes in the timing and the writing section, but if the professor who has taken the TOEFL test multiple times says it's difficult, then what about me?" 😢😭 I definitely need the books that Koreans use to study.😅😂

Just stay as optimistic as possible. Study, study, study. Pay attention to what Han Joon said about the number of hours people spend studying for the test!

I'm no professor😂 Just a normal person like you. It probably was one of those tests that the ets had an issue with adjusting the difficulty...or again was because of the issues I had. No one knows.

I have a test exam at the end of September 2023, Do you have any suggestions for just 50 days of preparation? is there any chance to get a 100 score in this time with 9 hours a day studying? I got the Duolingo test with a 115 score and I do not the exact equivalent of the TOEFL exam.
@Toeflresources Жыл бұрын
Honestly, it is hard to say what you are capable of since I don't know your current level. My suggestion for 50 days of prep is to focus on completing as many practice tests from ETS as you can. But don't just complete them. Really examine every inch of them. Understand the answer choices and why they are right or wrong. Complete each test multiple times.
