I like the Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe. The original animated film is one of my favourites from my childhood, so the scene on the coin, for me at least, is really iconic. Nice haul!

You should get into silver 1oz coins mate. I think you'd like them. So many design. Very nice quality. Good investment also.

I wish the royal mint would do a robin hood theme, I really think that collectors would love it. Maid Marian, Robin Hood, Prince John, Frier Tuck, Little John, Will Scarlet, King Richard, The Sheriff of Nottingham, that would be some 50p coin collection. :)

Absolutely agree! I think just going over all of the old british legends would make me happy. Theres so much history to go through and I like collections within a story to, well... collect.

Cheers for showcasing your latest purchases Christopher. I’m pleased to say that as a direct result of watching this video, I’m now in much less trouble with my wife over the amount I spend on coins! 😂

I got most of those, in BUNC. Have to disagree about the CS Lewis though, I definitely prefer the coloured version. Any news about the next Star Wars release? I'd expect next year.

Glad to see the additions to your collection. I’ve personally lost interest in collecting non-circulation coins. So many are now being produced that it’s become expensive to keep up. And the coins just don’t seem “real” if they don’t circulate. They feel more like meaningless tokens just designed to keep people spending their money. I’m happy for those that enjoy collecting them, but I’m no longer buying into them. I am a little surprised you haven’t published a video yet showing the new definitive designs… either here or on the Brittania Coin Company channel. That seems like the biggest coin news of the year so far. I figured the inclusion of animals on the definitive designs would be particularly good news to you! 🙂

Christopher I don't understand why an American movie is on a British coin. I really don't agree with Disney and the royal mint doing this.

My favorites thus far are probably the Mary Seacole £5 (because of the subject matter--didn't know anything about her, and it was interesting to read about her accomplishments) and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” 50p--I like the colorized strike in the acrylic block (I like the vintage feel of the "Lucy and Mr Tumnus" scene).

I really enjoyed this vid. I thought that all those coins were just lovely. Are they expensive to buy? They aren’t face value, surely? Thank you.

Great coins 😊 have you ever worked out what percentage of your income you spend on coins per month/year? Also you you keep a running total of your collections worth apart from your numista page? 😊

Really not a fan of the coloured coins, and its a shame they do not produce the silver proofs in non colour with many of these new coins, I really wanted a silver proof flying scotsman £2 but had to opt for a base metal bunc version as they were struck without colour. Im not sure if its because Ive never seen one with the naked eye but the quality of the colouring looks like a cheap chinese replica from aliexpress as if its been printed on, badly..

I love how the English adopt brand names for describing similar things - like Hoovering for vacuuming. Perspex is another - it acrylic and there are other brand names for it like Oroglass or Plexiglas. Its chemical name is Polymethyl Methacrylate. I too don't think much of the LWW coin but I like the Star Wars one. Pity it isn't going to be circulated. Here in Australia some of our nicest "coins" are never circulated which I think disqualifies them from being coins even if they have the potential to be spent. To me they become a token that can't lose value.

I'm jealous of the silver proof Tolkien. Sold out now. I have a couple of silver proof coins, on eBay, the silver proofs don't seem to be much higher priced than normal ones. Any ideas why this is. I totally agree, the colour pops on a £2 😊

It seems to me that the Royal Mint makes a few too many commemorative coins, I do like the coloured coins, and treat mine very carefully, although I can't help wondering how resilient the colour really is?
@ianmontgomery753411 ай бұрын
Australia has coloured coins in general circulation (particularly $2) and they are lasting well so I expect the Royal Mint would use similar processes as our mint does.
