Here's a tip on how to value them if they aren't in a highly sought after collection - (10M / Mintage amount) x 50p. That is true if the mintage amount is below 10 million or the coin is face value.

Interesting how both the scouts & the girl guides both had no photo’s of their designers. Perhaps a pact between the two respectively. I’d be surprised if the 600 2011 Aquatics did enter circulation. More likely they were in Carded sets & there is always the possibility they could be broken out naturally. Awesome upload. Put together very well

When I went to London the Tower Guard said he didn't believe in ghosts, that it was all noncence & he laughed at me. I called out to any sprite or sprites to make a noise or slam a door. Again the guard laughed ...then told me ALL the doors were locked shut, then more laughter and calling sprites names. Then TWO DOORS SLAMED SHUT ! I'll never forget it or the look on the guard's face, he was scared 'S'--less !😃😂😁 I thanked the 'sprites' as we left. That's why I like the coin at --10:30 -- cause it brought back that fun memory. The poor guard would have had a heart attack if he'd hear the EVPs found in accoupple of Castles way back in the 1970's. The sprites were 'intelligent' sprites, meaning they knew what was going on in our real life time and not just stuck in a loop repeating something over & over again that happened in the passed.

I have a set of Olympic 50ps in a presentation pack. It contains both examples of the aquatics coin with and without the "stripes". The striped version looks almost uncirculated which leads me to suspect it might be a fake. How can I check? and what do you think the set might be worth? Thanks in advance.

The letters are CI for Christopher Ironside. All have the letters CI on them. Sometimes it can be hard to see on worn/circulated coins but it will be there.

The jubilee coins came out with scratches on them, mine is brand new out the post office already with scratches on it, probably from the bags they put them in at the cash centre, mine came straight out of a bag from cash centre to me

I was much relieved to see his real collection in the folders. The ones in the bag are in V bad condition. I have about 400 from U.K. territories with the queens head.. I.O.M. 2003 probably worth about £ 400 and the re-issue, I think 2008/or 14 much more. some good handbooks on e-bay giving current values.

I'm from the Isle of Man, and own a Christmas 2003 50p, which has a 'BB' die mark. I also own the 2008 version (there are TWO different IoM 2008 Xmas 50p's), which has NO die mark, and seems to be extremely rare!

Hi Karl, yes the Brexit 50p is only worth 50p as over 10 million were minted. Also The Shakespeare £2 coins were heavely minted too so are only worth face value .

Old 50p coins are not in circulation, however the D day ones do sell for £3 or more and the design is brilliant I love those coins the best of the old style 50p coins.

Your joking right, putting a load of coins in a bag is the worst thing you can do to any coin as it leaves minor scuffs and scrapes, no gloves as well, will allow acid in the skin to deteriorate the surface of the coin. The things that determine the value of a coin are condition, (fine, very fine ,etc) frequency (amount minted), demand ( no interest in a coin and it's only value is face value), and the value of its composition ( High/low carat gold or silver). Most coins real value are the amount of time and production it costs' to make, so a 50p real value is less than 50p because it cost 5p to produce, a 1p real value is 3p because it cost 3p to produce. The most important thing in the value of every currency is the confidence by the bearer of its value. No confidence and its worthless. The value of coins is very difficult to calculate, a one and only coin of its kind can be worth a million pounds, find another and its value can half, find a hundred thousand in a treasure horde and its worth five pounds.
