And to argue the second part, people need to find a way to evolve the way they adapt horror into Minecraft. Although I agree distant obersvations get old, watch any horror movie, 7 times out of 10 it will be watching from a distance. And watching from a distance is exactly what used to scare the players of Minecraft in its early days

I can't agree with you o the Midnight Lurker. I think it's one of the best. The way it watches you, slowly creeps twoards you, multiplies?!, peeks around corners and comes out of the ground to scare you is pretty unique. It doesn't just attack on sight. It actually makes you feel very uneasy

i feel like some of this should come from the mechanics more the knocker isn't just spawn and chase. it has a lot of other things it does, doors you place may open on their own with a different noise, it will wake you up when you sleep at stare at you through one of you windows. (The same may happen, except it just watches you sleep), it may sit on your bed and attempt to jumpscare you upon sight, and a lot of other features

Yeah a lot of these felt like they were ranked highly just from character design. A creepy design doesn’t mean it’s a good horror mod. There was like no difference between “must have” and “this is what horror is about.” Like, the justification for siren head was that it’s large and “entertaining,” but entertaining =/= scary.

ngl i feel like pitting some of these mods against eachother is kinda like comparing apples to oranges? like the og cave dweller and from the fog are both mods that are meant to add onto the already existing subtle horror of minecraft, whereas mods like the man from the fog or some of the dweller reskins are literally just dropping a horror game monster into minecraft. obviously there's nothing wrong w that, lots of people obviously really enjoy the new challenge that brings but it does feel kinda stacked against mods that want to fit the already existing minecraft formula xP

Yeah. In my opinion It's about atmosphere, context and good mechanics. Atmosphere: It doesn't attack you the whole time and doesn't make cliche scary voice lines/sounds, like I can see you or I will get you. Context: It's kinda like lore. For example Herobrine won't be chasing you and attacking you with loud sounds. He is more of a stalker or corrupted editing or something. Like you need to make it al fit together. Like you name a mod the Drowned Dweller so he needs to look like he was drowned (moss, aqua collor) he needs to make gurgling screams or something and he needs to spawn nearby water or beaches. Good mechanics: Just making your mod more unique like: breaking down doors or attacking animals. It's should tie with the other category of context like Herobrine want leave half eaten carcasses behind, it would more fit to a beast/cryptid. So this is what I think can make horror mods better/unique.

What also makes it terrifying is when the main mob in this mod that dude with the knife spawns in there's this nun massacre chase music which makes you deaf and scared at the same time

some things i'd like to add, some of these are just my opinion, please don't hate :] the slumbering omen "girl" with cool animations is a guy, for any of you freaks out there the rake video you used is not the same rake mod as the image is showing the evolved cave dweller should've replaced the reimagined cave dweller, since it was the real source of almost all dweller mods the OG cave dweller should've been higher, the only reason people don't play it is because it is 1.19.3 and not 1.19.2/1.20.1, which no good horror mods are on, and it's got a new update, which is very good, and it is the ONLY reason minecraft horror has came back i agree with the silence, too much spawnrate, png jumpscares randomly, that random dimension where you can just lose everything in apollyon isn't really that good, too high spawnrate, got lore i guess yeah, but it's too much midnight lurker is way underrated, it fits minecraft's style, like the steve dweller, og/evolved cave dweller, knocker, mftf yknow those guys the one who watches has always been my favourite horror mod, and the newest update which is good. the irritator "crawling" or fitting through HALF BLOCK spaces, is just because it's a reskin the assimilator is a lot faster than other dweller reskins (other than cantbreathe, which is imo the scariest dweller, just because of the speed and sounds) also with the silence, it crashes in multiplayer beware the rain would be much better if either they didn't one shot you, even through walls like they do, or they spawn less the man from the shadow is an okay horror mod, just too high of a spawnrate AND the knocker also spawns in PEACEFUL mode and still kills you, so you're never truly safe from him also, you should do another video with more of the dweller/horror mods there are out there, i can name a few that i find really good that wasn't in this, this is a great video and it'd be nice to see more!

Yeah there may be a lot of horror mods, too many though. They are just being thrown about and come out flimsy, but ey there is a banger or two. Also just saying, the Cartoon dweller should probably be put on the bottom tier, just imagine if you try to play multiple, extended sessions with this dude in it... all the talking, it would get really repetitive, it'd be more annoying than scary, i've seen a video or two on people playing with the mod, so i'm not just making this up, and to make it worse i remember there being a tiny amount of variation in the lines. Unfortunately i can't really remember anything good from the mod so i'm basically just taking a huge shit on all of it, but safe to say you can enjoy this as a one and done type of thing
