Volquartsen is one stand up company. I have only good things to say about them. I bought a product of theirs for my Ruger 10/22 a while back, and I was having some issues installing it. I thought it was issues with the Volquartsen product, so I contacted them and they promptly sent out another. When I received the new one, I was still having issues with it, so I contacted them again. So they sent another. Right after they mailed the 2nd one, I realized that the problem was with the 10/22 and not Volquartsen's product. They treated me like a king and I can only reccomend them. I appreciated what they did soo much, it was really darn cool of them to sent me 2 more products, no questions asked. I felt absolutely terrible for this whole situation. I feel the only way I can pay them back is to show them the love they showed me and recommend their product. Their products are top notch!

I rebuilt my Ruger Mk 2 Gov't moel...8nin bbl...with all Volquartsen internals back ca 1994 or so...nice smooth & lite trigger pull...put a B-Square scope mount on it along with a Tasco red dot...used it originally for bowling pin head shooting competitions..excellent stuff...

I want to thank you for your channel, it inspired me to get back to 22lr shooting. I just watched your video about CF and it touched my heart. My wife passed from CF in October 2017. Thank you for what you do to inspire more shooters out there. Can you do a video on a CZ 457? I have a new thumb hole setup and curious as to what you think of it. Thank you again.

Cool thing about a 3" barrel is you have more subsonic ammo available than you do with a longer barrel since ~1200fps - ~1250fps rated ammo out of a rifle should exit this barrel around under the transonic barrier of ~1130fps.
@bodinian

Now does that factor in the length of the suppressor it'll be used with? Serious question.

Well, this explains why they would not cut my barrel down when I ordered my regular black mamba last year, despite advertising those same services on their website. Hey! Let's just get them to buy another pistol at 1400 in 6 months when we release the mini! Does the mini also sound like a babby rattle when you shake it? Whew! I feel so much better after typing that out! It's almost a cure to buyer's remorse. BTW, I still like the pistol despite all of that. :p

Ruger's pistols sound like maracas when you shake them, so I guess a simulation of a Ruger should as well. Weirdly, my Ruger all-metal Mark IV Target (with Voquartzen Accurizing kit) makes no sound when shaked (or even, stirred). It's a distributor custom version with black anodized aluminum lower.

Back in the 1970s there was a 45cal. fully automatic select fire (three rounds full auto) pistol out of South Africa called the Black Mamba. This gun was so fast that it could at full auto put 3 rounds into a 3in. circle at a ridiculous distance. (i don't remember it was a long time ago) And at a rate of well over 1000 rounds per min. (if not limited at 3 rounds per trigger pull) (again I don't remember the actual rate) Based on the standard 1911 action but pushed to its limit. I believe that it actually had a few less parts and was made entirely of 440 steelSo a little heavy which helped its recoil in full auto. Don't know what happen to it I've never heard of it sense then. At the time I read about it in an old Soldier of Fortune. And I believe it was long rounds and not ACP. Put I could be wrong again and it was ACP. Would make more sense because it was handle clip feed,.

Of course he can shoot the gun legally without a suppressor on it, there are no minimum barrel length restrictions on pistols. A snub nose 38 has a barrel length of about 2 and a 1/4 inches and a 38 Derringer has a barrel length as short as 1 and 1/2 inches. Perhaps the above commenter is confused because on a integrity suppressed rifle, the total barrel length includes the suppressor. So in that case, yes, removing the silencer COULD make the weapon illegal if you do not have a short barrel rifle (SBR) stamp. However, this is a pistol, not a rifle and yes, I was extremely frustrated that we didn't get a comparison between suppressed and unsuppressed.

@Stevarooni
@Stevarooni 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrRonro66 that's my expectation. The length of the red dot doesn't change. My understanding is that within a short distance, there's practically no difference in accuracy between short- and long-barrel firearms. Bolt one into a shooting sledge and they will consistently hit the same spot with each bullet press (depending on the quality of the materials and the consistency of the ammunition, of course).

The way i understood it, the longer the barrel, the longer the distance between the two parts of the iron sights, which increases the accuracy of the shooter. Given that you use a red dot sight, the barrel length becomes irrelevant for that.

I shoot 22lr as a cheaper alternative. This gun kinda chokes the life out of that mindset. I can still shoot squirrel sized groups with my stock 22/45 so I can’t see the advantage. Cost wise that is. I’m sure it’s mechanically superior in every way, but these days it’s about the money I can save. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you for the moment. 😉🤙🏼🖖🏼

Isn't that technically what this thing is? A pimped out version of The Mark 4..... For three times the price apparently.

and that is NOT including the red dot and suppressor. I'm guessing the set up he is using in the video is closer to $2,500 all in.

Well I will stick to my rugged GP 100 22 S, L and LR 10 round revolver. Not suppressed capable of course. But a great plinker and trail gun. Minute of squirrels and rabbits.

! You know, I recently saw some targets at our local range, just a sheet of white paper with a rough image of a squirrel on it! Sort of cartooney, might have just been run off on a copier.... A grandfather teaching a little boy to shoot with a single-shot rifle, it was so cute! People are always joking about squirrels in this context... it seems like it would be really hard to actually shoot one!

With optic sights, it doesn't matter how long or short the barrel is, shoot ability and accuracy will be the same.

You should do a video on the new heritage barkeep! 2 inch barrel in a 22lr/magnum.

No problem. They're a couple hours from where I live but I work up there so it's an easy peasy stop for me. Although I think I tricked my 10/22 out about as much as it's going to get so I don't go in there for Volquartsen much anymore.

For your next rifle review you should do the Ruger American Rimfire Long Range Target. From what I can tell it is a pretty accurate budget precision rifle.

You definitely do not need to shoot sub sonics in it, with a 3" barrel almost any ammo is sub sonic. I did this same thing with a Browning Buckmark. Cut the barrel down to 3" and put a red dot and suppressor on. Sweet shooter!
