A cellular booster works with an exterior antenna, an amplifier unit, and an interior antenna to deliver the boosted signal to cellular devices within wireless range.
Over the years, while weBoost updated their exterior antennas and boosters, they continued to rely on the same classic candy bar (aka "Hershey Bar") style interior antenna for many of their mobile 4G-X and 4G-M mobile kits.
Now weBoost has released an upgraded and improved mobile interior antenna to replace the venerable chocolate bar.
In this video we go over the improvements.

Awesome! Didn't even know this product was in the pipeline. And while we have to admit we've never really had any concerns about the esthetic of the original "candybar" antenna... the new one DOES look nicer. And if it performs even better? WIN!

I'm currently using the slim antenna with my 4g x otr booster from weboost. I'm very unsatisfied with it. I have to hold it close to my samsung s9+ to see any difference in dBm gain. Even 2ft away, it is as if I never switched the power on... would a panel antenna with a 50 dBm gain work?

That's typical of the candy bar / slim style antennas. I don't know o fa 50dB antenna out there (at least not one that would fit inside an RV.). But their panel antenna with 5-10 dB gain can provide some additional range in some signal conditions. But probably just a few more feet however. We just prefer to design around a tech cabinet approach - amplify your data device and connect to it via Wi-Fi / ethernet.

Can you connect the boosters directly to a router instead?

You can.. but it's not recommended as this style of booster is too powerful for machine 2 machine use. They make the Signal 4G specifically for this purpose.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if the 15dB gain on something like the Signal 4G would give me the results I want. We're planning to hit the road full time in August and exploring boosters/solar to help keep me connected for work as much as possible. Your reviews and information have been invaluable. I'll be joining the aficionados shortly!

weBoost claims that a higher powered booster would just power down in a direct connect situation anyway. 15db is the max gain for M2M, and anything higher has potential to damage your hotspot/router.
