The New Wessex Mainline | Train Simulator Classic | Class 159 | South West Trains

Hello and welcome to Train Simulator Classic!
Today we're going to be taking a drive on the recently released "Wessex Mainline" by the wonderful people at Just Trains! This scenario we're driving takes us on a South West Trains service from Eastleigh to Totton. It's an all stops service operated today by a Class 159 DMU.
What a great little route expansion this is! Unfortunately today we're not quite going to get chance to drive up the new Salisbury section of the route, but make sure you stick around on the channel because after today I'll definitely be back on this route!

I'm based at Eastleigh with Freightliner and watching this I'm straight back at work 😂 the level of detail is about 97% accurate I would say. And yes, you pronounced Swaythling correctly 😄

I love the class 158/9 when I was a young adult I used to travel from Salisbury to Templecombe on swt and train sim has the sound of it spot on x

SWT operated their 170s in to Waterloo regularly on the London-Salisbury service, supplimenting the 159s on the London-Exeter Service. They didn't run further than Salisbury due to lack of corridor connection between units meaning a trolley service couldn't operate which was a requirement on the London-Exeter service. As for Southern 171s, they run every hour all day every day in to London Bridge from Uckfield, and during rush hour quite often in 10 car formation too which I'd imagine would be the longest Turbostar formation ever to run!

I think the airplanes would be Vickers VC-10's 😁 A British built jetliner from the 60s that the RAF used as tankers until 2014!

This is my local area, so I'm so excited to see it. Unfortunately, there's so much traffic. You do need quite a bit for the scenarios. (The DTG one is St Denys - Bournemouth, but I think it has been upgraded.)

I'm not sure if this service would have been run by 158&9s in this scenario as it is all electrified and are certainly run by 450s today. Maybe JustTrains made a mistake. Nowadays, these services run between Winchester and Bournemouth (which is exactly what you suggested Joe!)

I do agree with you. It would be nice to see an updated version of Western Mainlines. Possibly an electrified version. Another route to drive the class 800 and 387.

The door buttons are in the correct place for a 159 and in fact for non-refurbished 158s. Remember the AP EP uses the NSE Class 159 as its base model 😉

@@JoeDobsongaming I assume they were too far away to comply with PRM regs. 'NTSN Persons with Reduced Mobility - Section 4.2.2.3.2. - Exterior doors: (14) The door control shall be located either next to or on the door leaf.'

(nearly) Swaythling resident here, yes it is called Swaythling and yes the platforms could perhaps be a touch closer. Never noticed a massive gap getting off a 159 before. Route seems pretty accurate around Soton. Not too bad.

Train Simulator Classic, and OMSI for realistic simulation, I cannot deny train sim world and the bus have much better visuals though. I’d go with the first two though
