This job should only be taken if you literally have no other options in life; especially if you are a white male. Anyone thinking of taking this job I assure you it is nothing like you are picturing. There are no hiring standards, no training, no one has your back, the dept itself hates you and so does the city. You will deal with impossible high risk situations daily and even if you do everything right you can still have your life destroyed if the wrong political/racial winds blow your way, which happens often. The precincts are dilapidated and equipment doesn't work or is missing. If you're real lucky you can even go out on patrol in a sector car where the roof lights don't turn on...trust me on this one.

A cop in nys must complete 26 weeks minimum by law, but many will do 10 months depending on need. After that training Every cop works the streets, does every solder go into war? No they don’t. Every cop must train throughout their entire career, what’s the requirements for the army? Cops must deal with the many changing laws and dept policies in this state and city. Yes state laws and local laws. As well as all the millions of different emotional motherfuckers on those streets. Cops do it alone in many cases. You as a solder are never left alone to do shit.

22.5 or 25 for 3% COLA. When Patterson was in office he refused to sign the Tier 2 extender bill effectively placing all new hires (myself included) into Tier 3. Tier 3 is awful and removed most of the benefits that made the job worth taking. Most new recruits have no idea about this, at least not a single person in my class did. They even removed 3/4 but that has recently been reinstated although you will pay for it now. No more ITHP either. This was one of the many reasons I left that sinking ship..best decision of my life. My friends still on say I wouldn't even believe how much worse it has become. It's like the NYPD doesn't want qualified, solid people on the job anymore. Diversity at all costs and to hell with everything else. Doesn't matter if you can't pass the exams, the range, the run, etc...those that can't will still be standing next to the ones that could at MSG on graduation day. The thing with Corrections their more sexist they would rather hire more females than males and when you go the the orientation the female officer treat you like shit they have a superiority complex alot of them join the force because of the pay but alot of them don't last long because the inmates bully them and corrections compared to 20 or 30 years ago is soft look at the stories you hear on TV about rikers island when I was looked up I use to see the female officer get bullied by inmates they couldn't handle the pressure

@Rameon4 жыл бұрын
@AMG BOYZ mentally deficient because a cop who works to become a protector of the people had the option to quit instead of enforcing something that isnt even as bad as you make it out to be the gun ban isnt even that strict people own rocket launchers and if its illegal i think its reasonable to enforce a ban on weapons capable of blowing people up is that what you mean then? gun bans could be good and the hypothetical of only whites are banned from guns thats actually stupid to think about how unlikely that is if youre talking mental capacity your idea of white racism is that of a neanderthal does your forehead stick out like one because you act like it and whatever you plan on typing back to me dont bother youre arguing points that not only make no sense but you also type incoherent messes about how a cop should consider being one before hand. in reality people do that and if the job they are asked to do conflicts with their views they either do it get fired or their captain reassigns them but the most likely is they do it because thats their job it doesnt matter how you view politics if you have a job do it quit and go work at mcdonalds unless youre too dumb to even do that
@Rameon4 жыл бұрын
@AMG BOYZ you realize its not the nypd who makes laws right? and if people tried that in florida it would have to be passed as a law for the police to enforce and in that situation your civil war wouldnt happen because if a buch of people decided not to obey the law the national guard would get involved but you dont think about that you just think anyone who disagrees is a liberal cuck who is too dumb to comprehend your superior intellect yeah? the ins and outs is people elect a represenetive who is supposed to decide whats in their peoples best interest if that means a ban on 22 caliber pistols in heavily dense populations so be it because theres nothing your troglodyte ass can do about it except vote away but just remember youre so damn stupid you think the nypd bans guns and that florida has the ability start a civil war over gun laws that wont be put in place anyways

@AMG BOYZ dude you spew the dumbest shit I've never met someone so dumb online youre comparing the police whos job it is to protect people be it by enforcing gun restrictions to nazis rounding up non whites and out criers of the fascist regime to exterminate them so if thats the case why dont you do something about it big man go down to nyc and talk about this but I'll tell you right now youre going to get ignored and you know things in NYC are way different from your bum fuck town its a difficult place for someone like you but the people that live in NYC seem to prefer those gun bans seeing as theyre the ones who vote for it its not like the government is choosing it the elected officials are so stop talking about something you dont understand its like you have the political knowledge of a child and the mental capacity of a fish

"Uniform". Everyone should be "Uniformed". Looks more professional.Beards look sloppy in uniform. If you allow guys to have beards, then the same guys can then have beards down to the chest. @4stripguy5 жыл бұрын
@@rodrikforrester9343 - Thanks... But it's a common sense thing that young/newer officers don't see because they lack the experience of going "hands on" on the job when it requires it. For the life of me, I do NOT understand why the dept also allows women OR men with long hair or long BRAIDED hair on patrol. Asking for trouble if the shit ever hit the fan should the officer ever need to get physical. First thing female perps OR females who resist DO is grab hair. I've seen female perps get control of a physical confrontation by grabbing a female officer's hair and the female officer would have been in deeper shit if they were NOT with a partner. Grabbing hair controls the head and that, controls the direction of where the body goes. Not rocket science... Some departments frown on officers grabbing anyone by the hair, but there is no rule for perps to follow it. Yeah, call me an "old-timer". Been retired for over 20 years but in this case, I've SEEN it. Some people think that the belief of NOT allowing long facial hair or long hair on patrol is "outdated, archaic" or even "sound like an idiot", SO BE IT. It's not me on patrol anymore and I won't be the one who could get my ass kicked (or worse) simply because I believe in me having long hair.

There is a lack of discipline in this academy. Also, the instructors are not "tough" enough to the trainees as they should be in order to develop able and trustworthy officers. They should take a look at the Georgia State Patrol academy.

Six months training to become a police officer? Are you fucking kidding me? I'm a cop in Germany and here it's a minimum of two and a half years of training just for medium level! For a higher level it's a 3 year bachelor programm and if you want to go into higher levels you need a further 2 years at the German Police University to earn your Masters! Jesus! I can anyone with just 6 months (and that's aparantly a lot) of training be allowed to enforce the law while carrying a gone! No wonder, the police in the US fucks up so often!
@25yrsotj4 ай бұрын
Considering the fact that until recently, that party that ruled Germany eliminated its opposition, you should tread lightly son ! Here we actually do police work dealing with everything from an old lady tripping on a curb to homicides ! Yes, I was a cop and detective for over 25 yrs in Brooklyn and in a citywide unit and your 2 yrs of training there would be the equivalent of how much actual street time ? 🤔
