It's a bit like the Steelers: everyone is saying "oh, we expect improvements from our Ball-Carriers" but the real upgrades are actually at the positions that stop the pass-rush & the opposing offenses. Footage shows that while Dan Jones followed Daboll's initiative to Run With Confidence whenever in doubt about any pass, he overdid it. Also he misses wide-open receivers. What's the point of adding more of what he already doesn't use? The only expected short or slot-receiver they went for is a TE. Aside from Kyle Pitts, TEs don't generally turn into great receivers until age 25. So even the Only New Piece they got for their receiving game might not be all people wish him to be.

@@mikaahkana160 I hadn't checked either. _MY_ insight involves QBs. I looked for when men become able to stay calm in the pocket as opposed to freaking out like Zach Wilson. It's about age 23 with 22.5 being the earliest I've found. Not good news for the top-3 with the High Expectations. My favorite example is Peyton Manning. While his rookie year stank, about game 10 his stats improve & mostly stay improved even though nothing on the team or field changed. His ability to shunt aside the Fight or Flight instinct long enough to not throw INTs in a panic kicked in & he stopped throwing INTs just because he couldn't stop himself. This has nothing to do with who we've been discussing. I introduce it here to try to reduce the hate that three prospects with High Expectations are bound to receive. Also, you never know that word of this won't reach an NFL coach.

That's the way I see the Giants the way you just described dangerous under the radar with loads of talent. I also agree that we should have did more in the linebacker position because what we had last year I almost couldn't believe how we made it that far and win a playoff game but that shouldn't be the case this year barring injuries we should make a lot of noise and break a lot of hearts.

The Giants will be a victim of their own success. The schedule is brutal, particularly the first 10 games which will be mostly on the road against mostly good teams.If they do well those 10 games, they can take the NFC East.

The whole thing rests on Evan Neal imo. If he becomes average or God willing slightly above average, this offense can take off. Problem is he would have to make one of the biggest leaps a tackle has ever made from 1st to 2nd season (according to pff). Considering the guy was a turnstile last year, thats an iffy proposition.

I’m more excited to see Hodgins in a full season. He’s something special and just because there isn’t much assets invested into em the hype isn’t real but to me it is ik what I saw last season in the most crucial chain moving situations he was open even if he wasn’t he made the catch. Route running is great at his size not a burner but excellent in transitioning his speed makes him a tuff cover especially at his size. Dj did the most with the least and only moved the chains at the most crucial times. Hyatt will be a project but a big play threat Hodgins, Campbell, Slayton, and Shep will be the bet go tos Hyatt there to create mismatches with Campbell, and Slayton for a lot of speed in the field it will keep the box empty for Saquon assuming he plays. Let’s goooo Gmen

Great breakdown, maybe a little rose color glasses but, it could go this direction. Neal is the player that I doubt the most. He was profoundly bad. Legendarilly awful. Way worse than Thomas, or any tackle in the league. I really think not obtaining a playable backup tackle has to be addressed during cut-downs. Neal could WRECK the season. I hope it was just rookie, new position jitters. But his footwork and hand placement looked amateurish and he didn't improve. Thomas got better as the season progressed. Neal was helpless, lost. My hopes are that when he's discovered to not be an effective tackle, they move him to guard. Flowers has carved out a career after he was a bust at tackle.
