this guy is the most young at heart dude ever. he could be 90 years old, and still have that youthful exuberance.

Met Jimmy a couple of times, he acts just like he’s an old buddy of yours from high school or something even if it’s the first time he’s ever spoken to you.

Dude, right on. I remember when I was younger seeing Murphy's Law play, I was just a kid. This was in the mid 90's. I was in high school and really just starting to get into the scene. I remember trying to sing along and a bunch of us knuckleheads wound up on the stage. Jimmy put his arm around my neck and like brought me real close to him with the mic in my face so I could sing into it, which was always difficult because I was tiny and used to get stampeded. I've never ever forgotten that feeling, that instant closeness and acceptance, and he was responsible for making me feel like I belonged during an era of my life when I didn't know if that was the case.

I was hanging out with Jimmy before a show in Milwaukee, I was straight edge at the time, big Xs on my hands... Jimmy was wearing a Highway 420 shirt, this was like '95 or so and I said his shirt was funny. He didn't know what 420 meant and I told him. We were tripping out that a straight edge kid explained to Jimmy G what 420 meant. Later during the show I jumped on stage and sang Quest For Herb with him. He was holding the Mic, just saying "This guy is straight edge haha" Good times... One of my favorite people in hardcore.

Saw Murphy’s in Detroit with AF and must’ve been close to the release of Arf cos they looked exactly like the pic from the record. The gravity of the that show was palpable because hardly anyone showed up because of the stories of Nazis, violence etc. Me and my bud (both Jewish) said fuck it, we just can’t miss a show that momentous, a big slice of NYHC in Detroit. We get there and the place was crawling with WAR skins from out of town. Murphy’s were great, jimmy had a broken leg and couldn’t stand up. AF kicked it hard as fuck and we got our asses out of there as soon as the lights came on! One of my all time most memorable shows.

I remember seeing them at the old Magasin 4 in Brussels (it was some kind of belgian CBGB) back in the 90's. They missed the boat in England and arrived very late in Brussels. There was 3cm of beer on the ground and i remember Jimmy saying "fuck !!! I think it's the 1st time ever that the crowd is more drunk than we are !"

Jimmy was always a character. Never stuck up or playing some tough guy wannabe. Treated everyone the same whether they came from different boros or jersey or connecticut whatever as long as they were cool. The clique bullshit got worse as the scene got bigger. One of the funniest lines onstage....Murphys Law in Hoboken. Must have been Halloween or some shit. Jimmy puts on this Freddy Kruger glove and says to these 2 female fans "Look girls ,I'm a gynecologist ".😅

yup. him and Stigma. A lot of hardcore folks are introverted wich can come off as pretentious, Jimmy and Stigma are neither. I was in the same room with Stigma and the entirety of Slayer. I had no clue what to say to Slayer, Stigma greets me like an uncle I haven't seen in years and Jimmy does the same when you meet him. Love you brothers!

4:58 Wait glass buildings and hipsters? Ay, this the first I've heard of that. I'm hispanic so, i naturally started out with rap. A lot or if not then half of gangsta rap came from Brooklyn and the Bronx, even the indie rapper, Joey Badass confirmed that these rappers and gangstas came from Brooklyn.

Saw Murphy’s law a few times but never liked them. In fact it was 1992 and bad religion was playing the next day but some friends wanted to go see Murphy’s law that night. We went and my friends car broke down so I didn’t have a ride to BR the next day. I blame shitty Murphy’s law for that.

Ah yes the age old question that erks everybody's brain. Did you live in a squat? Such a very important and vital question that it has been added to the top ten most important questions to ask a NYHC musician. I certainly like to believe that there are much more important questions to ask them. Perhaps the question is, what compelled you to ask such an irrelevant question in the 1st place? Surely it has a very important reason to make the top ten. Your lucky these people were glad to share they're unfortunate past in they're lives with you. I see you've done it with other well respected members of The NYHC community. It seems to me like you are out to discredit or disdain these otherwise great musicians of history.

Vast majority of the scene were street kids who left home for whatever reason. . And squatting was pretty common back then in the city.
