Coolest thing about the old NYHC scene is the large number of unique characters & personalities! All seem to be the most polite, down-to-earth & honest guys. As a pale, skinny 15 year old smalltown kid I once talked to Vinnie Stigma with at the merch table after an AF show in Germany using my crappy school English. He took some time & talked to me like I was an old friend he just hasn't seen in a while. My intention was to buy a patch, he handed me a bunch of them with a handful of stickers + other stuff. While I handed him the money, he just flipped the stuff over the table, shook my hand and said "thanks a lot for coming, hope to see you next time". Sounds pathetic, but since then I knew Punk & HC is "my place".

I saw Agnostic Front in a small club in Missouri a couple years back. Both Vinnie and Roger were super cool and down to earth when I met them. Took time to chat with my wife and I, and they seemed to really appreciate us coming out that night. Hope to see them again soon!

Not hardcore, but Scorsese actually announced a Ramones movie maybe 5 years ago. IDK what happened to it. Would give him a chance to revisit 1970’s NYC, Taxi Driver style.

"There's Franky's...he's got the square"....my grandma and ma make the square pizza. Drove me nuts as a kid. Ma...why cant you make a round pizza 🤣 I was in NY for the 25th anniversary of Victim In Pain...it was 6 days after my birthday. I first saw AF at Reseda Country Club on Oct 6th 1990....6 days before my 15th birthday. After the anniversary show in NY, i came out of the bathroom and for some reason Stigma locked eyes with me, like he knew i had something to tell him and its like his eyes said "come tell me your story kid". As i approached him he gravitated towards me and i told him how i first saw them in1990 6 days before my bday and here i was seeing them 6 days after my 35th birthday. He remembered the Reseda show, hugged me and said thanks for sharing my story and happy birthday. Shit comes full circle.

Addendum to amazing hardcore drummers. Robo: (Black Flag, Misfits) D.H. Peligro: (Dead Kennedy's) Lucky Lehrer: ( Circle Jerks) Walter Gustafson: (Gang Green) I have to give a shout to Garry Sullivan for his awesome playing on the new Cro-Mags album In the Beginning also.

With all of these questions about 'best (1st wave) hardcore drummer', I'm hearing no one mention of Rob Williams of Siege. Such a shame being that Siege influenced alot of "latter-wave" extreme sub-genres that were to come.

Question, I know death before dishonor is a early nyhc band( because when I was upstate I read the nyhc book, which basically makes me a nyhc know it all, lol) but what about the Boston straight edge band death before dishonor?they basically stole the name, right?
