As a knicks fan, at least in very recent memory, it feels like we can’t develop players. We’ve had quickley, Robinson, and deuce who really broke out last year, but that’s about it when it comes to guys who stand out. And now we’re trying to compete for a chip, with a coach who is known for not playing his bench much, so there’s not really much time to really get young guys minutes to figure out their role and how to be good at it. Tyler Kole looks very promising, but he can’t fill every gap. Our starting lineup is all guys who got traded to NY and then Brunson who signed with us kind of as he was entering his prime. I don’t know if it’s a drafting problem, or maybe something with the coaching, but we can’t expect guys to be great in their first years, especially as we’re trying to contend and our own draft picks won’t be that high anymore for a couple years. I don’t like comparing, but Boston and OKC drafted well, gave their guys time to develop and signed people around them. I’m not saying that we should copy that, but it feels like maybe giving the young guys more time would ultimately help us in the long run. Then again, it’s only been nine games, and I will continue to believe. Go Knicks!

Ive been SCREAMING every time sims goes in over hukporti. Not even because hes a rookie buz cuz sims is TRASH!!! He couldve been developed great, just look st his size and athleticism. But his whole offense is getting an offensive rebound, missing 2 putbacks and passing it back out😅
@Odysseus199915 күн бұрын
I think Leon Rose has drafted very well. I think the only miss he’s had was Obi Toppin over Tyrese Haliburton. When you compare that with Steve Mills and Scott Perry, it becomes obvious. I just think Thibs needs to play our rookies. Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, Deuce McBride, Jericho Sims, Trevor Keels, Pacome Dadiet, Kevin McCullar Jr, Tyler Kolek, Ariel Hukporti. Those are all rookies Leon Rose selected.

this issue with thibs running short rotations for high minutes is the exact same issue everyone was talking about in the play offs last year. "If we weren't injured we'd do this and that", running your starters into the ground in the regular season to make the playoffs is writing a cheque you can't cash, that check will bounce come the post season when the starters get injured or can't keep up across a series. Developing rotational depth is everything. The success is a mirage if you can't rely on rotational players to contribute or pick up the slack for injured starters

They have a top 5 offensive rating, KAT has drastically improved that, but they desperately need a traditional center next to him to balance out his defensive downsides. Robinson can be that when he comes back, but can he stay healthy is the question. Depth also is a big concern, a 6-7 man rotation does not work over the course of an 82 game season.

Great analysis, Kenny! Just one thing you left out is that the reason open threes were a lot easier to come by the last few seasons was because of Randle’s drive & kick game, which was super key. Now with him gone, Brunson is the only guy who really drives the ball, meaning everyone else is mostly standing around waiting to get the ball behind the arc, and it’s putting too much pressure on Brunson and letting teams load up on him, knowing they don’t have to worry as much about offensive creation from the rest of their players

These Knicks issues could’ve been seen a mile away and yet they went through with steps to make them even more prevalent smh

KAT’s 7”0 and can’t guard the paint. That’s funny

The Knicks need Robinson back, which will help in rim protection efforts and allow Towns to play his natural 4 spot. Problem is Robinson is injury prone and team defense is lacking in his absence. May need some more time to gel the new staff. I would’ve preferred Divo stayed and leave Mikal for the Nets. Understand the Knicks needed an insurance wing in case OG gets hurt.

Ofc I knew the KAT trade could hurt them defensively but I still thought they’d be pretty good considering their wings. Guess we’ll see if/how they can turn it around

I’ve been saying the Knicks gotta run zone with their defense, at least until Mitchell Robinson returns

Sorry Kenny, I always respect your ball opinion BUT the real issue with this team isn’t KATs defense, it’s thibs rotation, schemes, and overall game plan… like why tf is Sims still getting minutes, he is not an nba player
@vvvawdad176716 күн бұрын
Sims getting minutes because the team gets tired maybe
@cj98716 күн бұрын
@ understandable if they didn’t have Hukporti who they signed to a full contract
@Moss_Head2116 күн бұрын
I really am starting to believe thibs not trusting someone like hukporti is being our downfall rn because why is sims getting minutes over him and on offense Tyler Kolek is a floor general but is being used as a corner sitter while deuce McBride initiates the offense when that’s not his game he’s a 3&D player I hope Thibs fixes this cause if not idk if he fits here anymore

They messed up when they traded away Randle and Donte. The KAT trade was terrible. Giving Brunson the keys was very shortsighted because Randle could take the workload off of Brunson differently from KAT can do.

kat 28 not 29

They have no point guard..Brunson is a chucker.. he's not concerned with getting anybody involved.. Towns is clearly the best player they should play through him until further notice

So where are we struggling the most? Defense right.. Well Kat and JB are there for scoring and min D. Whereas OG, Bridges and Hart need to lift their defense because they only bring min offense.

I feel like they tried to hard. They also lost their bench. DiVincenzo, Hartenstein and Grimes. Also, Randle. While adding just Towns and Bridges. What did I miss?

I really hope we fix what’s going on with kat and the defense and our couch big game tonight we need to fix these problems now

This is why giving away your depth in donte is terrible. Tom has these starters avg 40+mpg that is not sustainable at all AND theyre not even winning games

It was a disaster from the start. They traded away what depth they did have to also trade away their defensive identity. Add in thibs being thibs it’s not going to last.
