fun fact: A lot of people don't know that this is actually the second installation of this type of portal. The first one was called the Vilnius-Lublin portal between Lithuania and Poland. The first portal was very successful with very little to no misuse at all in comparison to the New York-Dublin one. Just goes to show how different people used it.

The original idea is by an artist from Lithuania, Benediktas Gylys. The first portal was made between Vilnius, Lithuania and Lublin, Poland. We had it for years now and it works fine and is great art installation, no need to take it down due to stupid people.

There's a live cam in Leavenworth, Washington. It's an absolutely gorgeous, fun city with wonderful European-style shops and a sledding hill and beautiful Christmas lights for a few months of the year (although it's absolutely gorgeous any time of year). At Christmas time we will turn it on in the background sometimes when we're all just hanging out, and watch the kids sledding and the snow falling and the beautiful lights and it sounds weird but it's really lovely. Like when people have those fake fireplace videos on their television or they'll have the little kitties and puppies buy a fireplace during the holidays and you can just have that on your TV 😂. A live webcam from a little ways away so people can't be gross and stand directly in front of it can be really nice. Anything other than that and you definitely have to worry about content! Oh, and on KZbin I've seen live cams of people with these amazing hummingbird feeders and they'll have like 30 hummingbirds around all the time. See, those things are nice! Also vote for the puppy and kitty/animal cam like one commenter said. Who doesn't want to see adorable animals making friends with their furry counterparts in another city?

I've had this idea for a while that it would be really cool to have a set of really fancy cameras set up looking out into nature somewhere like Alaska or the Amazon Rain Forest or the Gobi Desert- just looking out into nature and live-streaming in 4k, and then people could buy special windows that would import that stream so it would look like they had a window looking out into an entirely different part of the world. It would be a service where it would actually make sense for people to pay a subscription fee per location streamed per window to pay for the cameras, their upkeep, security for their location, and a coallition of camera caretakers to monitor the various streams around the clock to keep an eye out for untoward happenings. Starting in rural areas where you wouldn't have to deal with crazy people tracking the cameras down and sabotaging the whole situation would be a must, and once the company was making enough money to hire round-the-clock security, they could start buying or leasing spaces in major cities with good views for the each new camera array to live. I suppose once the operation was making enough money, they could even set up high quality microphones to pick up the external ambient noise of the environment... but from inside the window, as one would hear the faint external noises of nature from inside the house. Also, you could do the whole "human connection" angle by having a few "camera caretakers" to come by and clean the glass the cameras would be needing to look through, and then customers would have a friendly face to look forward to in their live-streams as well. I think it would be really cool to lean into the "window" aspect of this idea. If the "window" consumers bought was almost like a shadow box with a shallow, geodesic bowl behind the frame, that could give the customer a slightly-less-than-180 degree view of the live-stream, and then it would really feel like looking out of a window. And if the bowl is made up of a bunch of flat planes, I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to connect each portion of the live-feed to one of those planes in a way that makes the view look truly 3-dimensional. But to really give that 3-d "window" feel, there would need to be enough high quality cameras set up and working together to get a 180 degree view of whatever scenery was the chosen location. Also, there would probably need to be quite a bit of technology on-sight to make sure all the feeds are smoothly meshing together so they can be broadcast as a single, 180-ish degree feed. This would have the added benefit of making those "window"s an essential part of the experience, though perhaps it would be smart to also live-stream a single camera feed to anyone on any device willing to pay a small subscription fee; a live-stream that would of course have the company logo stamped across the bottom, a logo that wouldn't appear on live-streams to proprietary hardware. By the way, I have no idea if this already exists. If it does not, this concept is 100% free to a good home! I would LOVE it if this inspired someone else bring this idea to life!

O'Connell St was a terrible idea. As an Irish person I rarely go into town anymore more, and O'Connell St is an absolute no go its a disgrace.
