NYR fans blaming guys like Roslovic, Gus, and other depth guys is comical. The NYR “top” line has been dead silent except for yesterday’s short handed goal. The Panthers are playing with more confidence, making faster decisions, getting to loose pucks more quickly and honestly hitting harder too. Rangers are scoring then changing their style, playing games not to lose. Florida is driving all the way through, playing to win. Frustrating to watch as a NYR fan.

That said, Cats need to win NOW...NY , Boston ect will be better next year and the Cats likely will have had 2 SCF seasons in a row, which might lead to an early exit next year.

This is true and it is 100% a style/coaching issue. The panthers won the president's trophy 2 years ago and scored more goals than any team since like the 90s Penguins with Lemieux--but they had real tough sledding in the first round against the Capitals and got swept by Tampa in the 2nd. They came to an organizational decision that the run and gun style they were playing doesn't work in the playoffs, so they hired Maurice and forced them to change into a dump and chase type of team, and it took them all of last year to figure it out (that's why they barely made the playoffs) but they learned that it works in the playoffs. This year they've been playing playoff style hockey all year, and the results are obvious (plus they're deeper and healthier than last year).

For the Rangers to do what the Panthers are doing means changing their style fundamentally in the middle of the ECF. It's just not doable. It's not a question of will or effort or heart. They're trying to win the way they've won all season, which is what teams do.

As a Rangers fan, Mika's play has disappointed me this series. He's a very calm and composed player, but in hard times like this, those qualities can be mistaken for indifference, laziness, and lack of commitment. I hope to see more energy from him because he's a spectacular player with tremendous unique qualities. Panarin is trying to make things work, but his finesse with the puck is being disrupted by the Panthers' aggressive backcheck (credit to Steve Valiquette from MSG Network for pointing that out). Kreider gets a hall pass; he's going to the rafters. Fox is probably still carrying an injury from that knock to the leg from the first series vs. the Caps because it's clear that he's not himself and playing through some sort of pain. Schneider has been sloppy with puck possession in the defensive transitions, but it's normal for a defender of his age with a lack of playoff experience. I'm very excited to see how he matures as a player. Ultimately, I can't wait to see how they respond in Game 6. What a great opportunity for everyone on this team to find out just how good of a player and team they really are by going up against some of the league's best (probably THE best). No coach in any practice environment can replicate the in-game situations of this series, and win or lose, this team should soak it all up. It's building tremendous character, and it would be great to see them grind this out #LGR

It's looking bleak for the Rangers, but as we saw in game 6 vs the Canes, anything can happen. But if they lose this series, I think they'll want to upgrade the bottom 6 in the off-season, and get tougher and meaner. If someone takes a run at Adam Fox, they need to feel some pain - old school - because we can't win a Cup if Fox is a non-factor all post-season. They need to figure out how to create the conditions under which their top scorers can thrive in the playoffs, because they're not going to trade Mika, Panarin or Kreider. They're disappearing for reasons, not because they lack heart or don't care.

These games have all been very close, one bounce here or there and it could be 4-0 panthers, or even 4-1 Rangers. They were in it all game until the end. Rangers goalie is world class. The panthers appear to be a better team though, shutting down key offensive players/ Mica, Fox, Krieder, Panarin have been poor. I am not counting them out, they proved all year they could do it and have. Would I be surprised if they lost 6 or 7? no... I would also not be surprised if they won two straight. They need to tighten up their defense and get going on the offense. Power play last 20 chances are poor. As a Pens fan, I can and HAVE seen a weaker team get rattled by the Shesty wall, start gripping their sticks too tightly, and then get trounced by the Rangers skill off the rush. Cats have the scoring skill, team defense/formations, and goaltending to stay with the Rags - yes. But more importantly they got the mentality to just. keep. GOING. Keep it steady, and just keep going. I saw that in the finals last year and knew they'd have a high chance again to go deep. I see this the most in them and the Stars, which is why I have both of them battling it out in the Finals. But if anyone (currently) could beat them, it'd be McJesus and Shesterkin. Now after losing in game 6 we have gone as far as we can with these guy (Kreider, Zibanejad, Panarin, Trouba) (Our 30+ yo guys who played awfully) it’s time to move on trade them away for a fresh start with young tough players who can fit a new cup window with Fox, our young blossoming D-core, future superstar Alexis Lafreniere and soon to come BC phenom Gabe Perreault. My ideal targets are Brady Tkachuk, Trevor Zegras, and Marco Rossi all heavily involved in trade rumors, and to replace Trouba let’s get Chris Tanev, hopefully we can get some prospects in trades as well, maybe an Oliver Moore? Gavin Brindley? Going to be a great offseason if Drury can make the right decisions. LGR

I would like to know what people think about this. When the Anaheim Ducks offered Adam Henrique and Frank Vatrano for Kappa Kakko and draft picks I said make the deal. The Rangers needed someone to go into the corner and dig out the pucks and players with Stanley Cup playoff experience and Adam Henrique has both. People have told me they were happy the trade didn't happen because of Kakko 's potential scoring ability. What do you think?

Rangers always lived and died by the PP. All season. 5 on 5 was ALWAYS a problem. Yet, Igor kept this a one goal game every night. The Panthers stifling the NYR PP is what did us in. I attribute it to Fox playing on one leg, Panarin collapsing under pressure, and the coach not swapping Mika for Laf.

As a newer fan, in that I am more into hockey this year, the panthers look great just have a giant glaring hole. And its their agression, like I feel a team with sound passing and a guy who can just get the puck into the O zone will smoke this team cause thats how the panthers play, just instead of speed its physicallity. So IMO Dallas or Edmonton should beat them either through star power or the ability to adapt to anything
@kyledavidson87126 ай бұрын
The soccer world calls it continental- small short triangles KEEP POSSESSION. It almost always forces an aggressive team to over commit and leaves open men. Just my two cents take em or leave em.

I think the NY Rangers came against a buzz saw of a team in the Florida panthers. Florida panthers will win game six, there is one mark messier , it shows the lack of leadership on the NY Rangers.

Canes fan here: they didn’t get challenged by us and got that false confidence. I’ve seen it tons when teams get power plays and the power play is firing. They got good calls in the first two Canes games and simply gifted the third game. Rangers are resilient as heck and (I’m talking to you Zabinejad) very creative at times so I still think we’ll see seven games here.

Rangers biggest weakness, and it has been this all playoffs: they can't adjust. They've been outplayed pretty much all but 3 periods in the entire series. They've done nothing to change their style and try to do something different. The loss of vesey has definitely hurt them, but it's more than that. All aspects of their defense has been sloppy and they've done nothing about it. We saw this in the Carolina series, where the canes finally got to us, adjusted their play to get back into the series until kreider closed the door. We need to wake up and battle adversity. A very pessimistic LGR
