The New York Rangers almost traded for the star player they’ve so desperately been looking to acquire but the deal fell through after the two teams couldn't quite come to an agreement on the protections around a 1st round pick.

After the trading deadline comes and goes. We'll get a good look at what this team will be like for the remainder of the season. Hopefully that is followed up by a massive off-season like what the Capitals did to bring in players like Logan Thompson and Jakob Chychrun. If the Rangers can have an off-season, where the right trades are made as well as some tough choices with a few players that're fan favorites. The Rangers could look even better next season. Rangers need another big defensive defensemen. The defense has gotten better since the Rangers acquired Vaakanainen and Borgen's. So it should make it much easier to move off of defenders like Miller and Lindgren. I'd seriously consider bringing up Matthew Robertson too. Big defensemen who is having his breakout year as a defender for the wolfpack. He's the type of player the Rangers really need on the back end.

Agree about Robertson, but Jones & one of Lindgren or Miller will need to be traded for him to get a chance.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of what Kaliyev can do. He had a great game last night against Ottawa. It'll be interesting to see if he can fit in, and whether he's a good replacement for Kakko

@@carlor.s.4742 Jones is going to leave NY. It feels like he took a flamethrower to an old wooden bridge that connect him and the Rangers together and burned it to the ground. Jones will never sign another deal with the Rangers. Lindgren is looking like the next defensemen move though. The Red Wings have Lindgren as there 1A option as the defender Yzerman really wants. So I do see Jones and Lindgren being moved, which could give Robertson a chance to see some ice time on the Rangers roster.

@@mmonurdz9456 I like Kaliyev's upside a lot an always have. It's just the Kings didn't have a roster spot open for him an honestly, there was no shot he was clearing waivers and I think the Kings knew that unfortunately for them, they had no choice but to gamble it. They didn't want Arthur going through the same process Jones is an they lost that gamble but the Rangers got a solid prospect because of it.

The defensive play is vastly improved & although they were not perceived to be high profile players, both Borgen & Vakk have improved the D, I really love our fourth line, The Blues Brothers, just the kind of guys needed to grind out a game. I have a feeling that both teams will revisit the JT trade.

Drury has not been afraid of throwing names into the mix, from Kreider to MIka, etc. He's doing everything to motivate his players. I have said for the past 3 years, this team does not play hard enough to win a cup. As much as I like Panarin, he's a regulaer season star. Now that everyone is uncomfortable with their status, the play has taken a positive turn. More grinding, toughness, etc. Druruy needs to find a way with Peter to keep motivation high and comfort levels low. Torts was great at that, although he was a maniac, lol.

In a way it makes me sick that we had JT Miller when he was young and we didn’t use him right and now we’re trying to get him back. That’s why the Rangers don’t know develop their own stars please please please do not trade Alexis Lafreniere that would be a huge mistake. That’s keep developing him. He has the talent. He showed his talent in the playoffs last year. Do not give up on the future trade the past and use Mika in a trade.

The deal you are referring to would have been another poor deal by Drury. It certainly would not have turned the Rangers into the contender that was constructed by Jeff Gorton (and destroyed by Drury) the best they can hope for is to be competitive, but certainly not a legitimate contender. J.T. Miller’s best hockey is in the rear view mirror. The best way for Drury to make up for his poor moves is to stop making moves.

"Desperation" may be a bit premature, especially given last night's total destruction of the Ottawa Senators. Team is on a pretty good point streak. Again, no reason to (again) trade away our future. Some people had pointed to the Ottawa captain as another "star" potential trade target. So how'd everyone enjoy little Thugchuk elbowing Igor in the head, then punching Rempe from behind the ref that was holding Rempe back from destroying him? No way I want that thing in NY... and how many games has he gone scoreless now?

Agreed, the Rangers are finally showing signs of consistency. The 5v5 action is improving a little bit but it still needs a lot of work. Miller for some reason, had 23 minutes of ice time, while Fox only had a little under 21 minutes and one less shift then Miller. I truly do not understand why the Rangers management is digging in so deep for Miller. It's not that I don't understand it, it's just not the right time to be doing this. He needs proper coaching, on top of the minutes. I really don't think Phil Housley is the right defensive coach for the Rangers defenders.

@@delsanravelvetheart4365 Also agree. Miller has the size/skill/speed - but isn't playing anywhere up to those. I have said he should be given a short break, as Igor had last year, with specialist coaching in a private environment. We see the guy make good plays...before the next charitable donation for the opposing team.

@@marcjohnson2610 Exactly. The Rangers hired Marc Stall as an assistant in the player development part of the Organization. Allow Miller to be a healthy scratch while Miller learns for about a week under Marc Stall in a private one on one going over his game, watching film and learning how to be a better defender in general. Marc is just as tall as Miller is, so having a former player at his position who was well known for his defensive game would benefit Miller greatly.

Drury is going to act in a desperate manner and trade youth(Chytil) for another 30+ yr old star. The Rangers never can build a strong foundation because they’re always trying to get to a championship with quick fixes. Like I said Drury will fuck this trade up

trading for JT Miller is so dumb. giving up kids and picks for a problem child who we traded away because he was a problem child for him to get shipped out by Tampa and now Vancouver? This is not a contender type team. there is no one we can add that will change that. if Drury is smart, and he has proven not to be, you move the UFAs at the deadline. Sell what you can. try to move Kreider, maybe we can trade Mika during the summer. Trading kids and prospects for an impact player is what Cup Contenders do, but it is how the Rangers did business when i was a kid and it didn't work then, it won't work now, it won't work ever.

Do you feel maybe the young players are not happy with the way they are being used? Kakko with the Rangers i felt was not comfortable and for this his play was not consistent now that he has been traded to the Kraken he has become a star and i have mentioned this in previous videos about him that he will haunt the Rangers unprofessional decision to let him go there was no excuse. Lafreniere was that way until something in the way the coaches did by giving him a floater type style of skater which gives him more freedom on the ice.

Yea let’s pay Mitch marner 12 mil instead of trading for JT that makes a lot more sense and sign TJ oshie to play with panarin then we’ll be a cup caliber team haha drury should trade for JT and I hope he does
