I went into Guitar Center yesterday and they had this. I have wanted it for years. I could NOT believe how great it is and I bought it! This is far better than my Gibson Studio deluxe II. Try one of these! 899 here in the US. And worth every penny! BTW I had to look up Zach Myers. I guess I am "Turning into a PRS boy".

Since you asked us to comment so politely, Over the decades I have found the best way to test an electric guitar is unplugged in the corner by yourself, the quieter the better. I play a few scales, the bar cord and then a few licks. What I want to hear is how loud is the guitars natural voice. Does the neck and body vibrate with the strings or is it stone dead. Next I feell the neck, is it too small for me, it is comfortable. Pick ups, frets tuners bridges can all be replaced and or upgrades, by a dead playing quiet guitar there is just nothing you can do to change that, it's the wood, and you best to put it back on the wall and move on. I have bought guitars that I just so wanted to work out with me, in the end, I sold then all off. What I look for is a guitar that [[plays alive, and the sympathetic vibrations match with me.It hard to put into words, but if you play one that is a match, you will know it, and that is the one to get.

The first thing I do with any guitar is strum the open strings while it's hanging on the wall (allowing it's in tune, of course). the standard tuning of a guitar is not the most musical sound in the world IMO, and if a guitar sounds good just hanging on the wall, there's a good chance it'll sound good when you take it down, and a good chance it'll sound good when you plug it in.

@Bobby Murphy I think 1 out of every 100 "cheap" guitars comes off the line in amazing shape and plays/sounds like a much pricier guitar. I've been fortunate to find a couple like that and upgrade the electronics for fractional cost of a high end guitar.

Got that same model as my first PRS a few days ago. I'm VERY impressed at how great it plays and sounds! It played and sounded a lot better than a Gibson SG '61 Reissue that I used to have.

I have the older model and it is a great thing to play. I have a few other humbucker guitars so I put P90’s in it and made one master tone and master volume control. It’s a very versatile beast!

Beautiful guitar. I got one in 2016, trampas green. I love it. The neck is really nice. Starting to learn guitar in my late 50's I really like the light weight. My back has many years of snow shoveling. Hope you enjoy it.

I'm an old guy with too many guitars but my SE's are among the most played. Mine are wide/thin which felt perfect first time I touched it. Can't imagine what a top shelf PRS must be like - probably will never know since I can't justify $4K for one guitar. Guess I could sell the SE's, but I like having several cheaper ones that I like - a lot - rather than one expensive one.

@@danielsorensen2478 I hear ya. Uff, complex subject! Disclaimer/apology: cluttering up Mary's comments with yak. I'm a hobbyist, have only ever played music in friends setting. Do, and have, known many gigging musicians. Pre-pandemic, acquiring a $4.5K guitar was doable for a large number of people, in some way - trading ,selling, credit etc. In the 70's I bought a Les Paul Recording, on credit, from a local music store (those were the days!) An outrageous expenditure, for me, of $750. In my hometown, Roswell, in the 80's, I knew guys making $400 a week playing in a bar - and were easily worth it - packed the place. They did alright because they had day jobs, IF you could go 8 to 5 everyday, then 8PM to 2AM everyday!!! It died and has never returned. The local people (pre-pandemic) who still gig are lucky if they get $25 per now. Same with people I know who gig in a much more vibrant East Coast area. They may make some money here and there, but you know. Now, the 2 decades of FANTASTIC guitars at CHEAP prices - better than the Beatles had! Most of my stuff is $500 to $800 because that is an easy bite-size, tax refund purchase. Still more than I can justify. My more heavily gigging East Coast friends, and the pros like Mary, Pete Thorn, RJ Ronquillo, Rhett Shull, Henning Pauly - well heck yeah! I might still, someday, sell off everything and downsize quantity etc to buy a $4k PRS, but there's a WHOLE LOT of priorities in front of it - especially when guitars like the one she demos here are so good. I mean, what percentage of YT subscribers to all these channels make their living entirely from performing music? Versus how many weekend warriors and hobbyists who just want to hear a pro's experience and perspective? So for most of us, $4.5K is neither sensible nor practical.

@Bud Dee Well, you know, I COULD buy an expensive PRS or any other model. But I can't justify it - especially now with everything so crazy. You're right about used. The one "expensive" guitar I own (at least to me) is a Gretsch MIJ. Is there a higher quality feel/experience etc? Yeah, most definitely. There is something to be said for owning, playing, and enjoying an expensive, well-made guitar. My Gretsch was slightly used, like new really, and yeah it is special. BUT ... unless you're a pro, it's a luxury item. And even if you ARE a pro, it is a scale of diminishing returns. There are PLENTY of pro quality guitars in the $1500 to $2K range. $3500 and up and my brain just says "EXCESS! What are you thinking? Like you're Joe Bonamassa, or even Rhett Shull? SHUT IT DOWN!"

Great guitar. I have an older one in "Trampas Green." I amazes me what PRS can do at such a low price point. I have higher end guitars but I play this one and record with it just as often, and the playing experience is equally great as when I'm on one of my higher end Fenders or Gibsons. Kudos to PRS SE.

I have always wanted a PRS, but never really "looked" at them. I was always a Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat kind of guy. I play mostly blues. Long story shortened... I bought an SE 245 Standard back in December to put some SD P-Rails in... turns out I loved the sound of the guitar so much that four weeks later I bought the Trampas Green Zach Myers model. These guitars are by far my favorite! So now I'm a PRS guy! I plan on getting a second ZM (in blue) and putting the P-Rails in the Tramas Green one. Tone heaven! Great playing Mary!

Beautiful guitar, great video! I got my Zach Myers a few weeks ago and I could not be happier! The neck is not as "fat" as I thought it would be, to be honest... but the looks and the sound are definitely from a more expensive guitar! Agree 100% with you on that. And about your question, I also go for the clarity of the sound when plugged in, both clean and dirty sounds. And the frets, yes! That's a major thing. If you feel the "blades" when running your hand through the neck, forget it.

That is a nice guitar! Whenever I try out a new instrument, especially an electric guitar, I'll try it out unplugged 90% of the time since I'm more concerned with how it feels. If I enjoy how it feels, I'll "test drive" the sound in store to see what I'm working with and if I need to change out the pickups.

What i look for when buying a guitar are a couple of things- playability , it has to be easy on the guitarist. Tone/resonance , has to sound good. Production- if it’s something i can pick up any time I may hold off for a bit vs a limited edition that I’d be more inclined to buying it right then and there. Vintage is a plus

Whenever trying a new guitar, the most productive thing to do is to AB it vs another guitar that you already know well. If you're in a guitar store and you don't have your own guitar, just pick a guitar that is most like your own, the same model if they have that, and compare the two. Once you have at home a guitar that you really dig, you'll find that comparisons with it disqualify lots of new guitars that look really attractive at first glance. It's a good money-saving strategy.

When checking out a new guitar, to go along with 'playing experience', I like to see how a guitar projects while playing dry. If a guitar can impress me when it's not plugged in, it has a good chance of impressing me once I play through a good guitar rig.

I was going back and forth on this guitar. It always looked nice in pictures but I always wondered if that’s because they made it look nice. But your reaction when you pulled it out of the bag pushed me over a little. The sound is the sound, and all the videos here have nice sounds.

That sounds mighty good, in part because you're playing it I'm sure! PRS really does pay attention to the playability of its overseas production and doesn't treat its affordable guitars as kind of throwaway or unserious instruments. The tides are changing in attitudes to production in the East where you can typically spec a guitar of any quality and they will build that spec, be it Duesenberg or Reverend, EB Sterling, affordable Ibanez or Gretsch etc. Eastman is pretty darn good. With all these companies and models, it's probably way too many rabbit holes to chase down at this point (or F-holes as the case may be) but thanks for contributing to this venture.

Welcome to the PRS family!!! I already own the other 2 PRS Zach Myers guitars with f holes in them. The honey burst and trampas green. Love them both!!! The other guitar you should give a try is the Ernie Ball Music Man Luke 3 HH or the cheaper model Sterling Luke guitar model. When you get please do a video review on it. Those 2 guitars and brands are my favorite for genre and variety of tone. Plus the quality for the price us the best!!! Thanks for your video.
