I really do hope they don't nerf this. I don't see a problem with this. Zen has no escape mechanic, no mobility skill, and even with some extra shields he's still pretty fragile. The ONLY way he survives is doing damage and killing his attacker, which this kick change adds an extra layer to that rubric. Kick deals extra damage, gives him some space to shoot. What's happening here is people very used to bullying old Zen, who once you got into his face if that Zen wasn't landing shots then he was dead. Now Zen has a chance to survive in close and even get clutch kills with melee it's throwing people off.

Yes now you can get counter by Trans, the orb, and the kick of zen when playing Genji :D and the fact that you can't do shit about it is perfectly fine nothing wrong here !

You are genuinely one of the best support players I've seen. Do you have any tips on how 2 improve mechanically, specifically on zen?

Zen's aim is pretty hard but since his shots are projectiles and take time to fire each shot you can constantly adjust your aim right up until the orb fires so just practice adjusting it right before the orb releases? Sorry haven't had this question before but hope this helps :)

zen was used in skilled play before - the skill of playing zen was positioning in such a way that the amazing benefits of playing the character can be countered - I think they are actually mad because YOU had to prove your skills before, and now you fuckin' dont.

Every single other support had something to help them out, with arguably better benifits then Zen ever had. And even now, you still have to hit your shots if your kick doesn't kill. Or if the person trying to kill you is out of melee range (which is the most likely scenerio). Because otherwise you're probably just gonna get shot. You still have to prove your skill, but now you're on a level playing field with everyone else.

I think most of the comments here in favor of keeping the zen kick are just people liking the fact that zen is super survivable now, which isn't really a valid way to support the game. even if you like the kick, wanting it with no cooldown, as strong as a lucio boop and on top of +25 hp and 25% discord orb is crazy. its a meme ability, and any of you that want to keep it are the same as the mercy mains who wanted the og rez. I say this as someone who loves playing zen, the kick is only good for a joke and taking skill out of the game. A diveable character like zen should stay diveable. its wrong to just make it impossible to dive him as someone like genji, lucio, or even any of the dive tanks.
