I think the only competition this could have is an a350-9 or 10 freighter! The problem with airbus is that those would be new or almost new and thus the purchasing price would be waaay higher (not sure if the fuel save makes sense for less than 10 years or not).

The number will increase in the next few years with the start of production of the 777X, where airlines will begin retiring their -300ER’s (a bulk of which will come from Emirates). But since there aren’t too many on the after market right now, they still have a decent resale cost as opposed to the 747-400.
@StratMatt7773 жыл бұрын
Delta had no -300 models. I suspect that not having the -300's seat-mile cost advantages made it pretty easy for Delta to retire the -200s. The A350 burns 21% less fuel than Delta's 777-200ERs

With good maintenance an aircraft can fly much longer than the manufacturers suggest, although it’s rare to see an aircraft that exceeds the average life span by many years. @4evertrue8303 жыл бұрын
Does not make any good sense to me. There is a good reason why cargo operators chose the 747 four engine aircrafts, its because the weights of cargoes vary from low tons to extremely high tons. With a four engine aircraft freighters can compensate for this when loading high tonnage. The 777-300 can't compensate for this with its two engines initially ment for passenger use.

I think that's why they call it SF (special freighter) because usually cargo airplane are already at max payload in smaller cabin (-200 series) because cargo is much more dense compared to people and luggage. Longer fuselage versions means less weight for payload for about the same total authorized weight. This version is at max efficiency for less dense cargo, but can still be intesting for normal cargo depending of capital cost and availability of aircrafts.
@StratMatt7773 жыл бұрын
