BOOM! 205 1.9GTi sat in me garage right this second as we speak! Just finishing some winter cosmetic fettling in time for Spring (it is 100% original), but yeah - was a dream car back in 1989 when I passed my test, along with the Yamaha FZR1000 Exup of the same era........ so now I have both (just took me in to my 40's before I could afford them!!). 🤣

Glad you remembered the 205 GTi. I had a borrow of one for a couple of months back in the day and remember having a bit of a blat through some twisties near Hainault and Epping one day. Got to the junction at the end of one particularly twisty bit of road and a motorcycle pulled up alongside tapped on my window, I opened the window and the rider leant towards me and said that he'd never had trouble keeping up with a car before, he was on a VFR750. The one I borrowed was a 1.6 but it still cornered like it was on rails. Great little car.

I've got the Ninja 400, it was my first bike and suited my A2 licence. I've ridden that for two years, including a day at Silverstone, and got my full A last month. The ZX-4R looks like it would be a fantastic bike. The Ninja 400 is fantastic and a great starting point, a ZX 4 with a screaming inline four, quickshifter and all the other bits sounds good to me. I was planning to upgrade to a ZX-6R, this is now another option to consider..

I had a Buell XB12S lightening which I styled like a German Streetfighter with a kicked up rear end. I loved it and to this day regret selling it. It was never a fast road bike, I just enjoyed taking it easy.

My only problem with the ZX4R is the price, I'm 21 and work a well paying job and it would still be a stretch to own that bike. In Canada, it's $11,749... bit of a shame. Aside from that it's an amazing bike and I'm looking forward to trying one when they arrive

As someone who BOUGHT a Buell XB12-R (yeah with my own money cos I'm an idiot) Has to be one of the most uncomfortable, shoddy build quality bikes I've ever owned. You could not pay me to have another one. Took it round the Nurburgring and toured through Netherlands and Germany. (Sold it right after I came back)

I had an xb12s and it never let me down, sold it with 37000km. I thought it was very comfortable, my daytona 675 was the worst by far, so maybe its just the more racy ergonomics than the s what made the r so bad for you. Only the fan that blew hot air into my ball area when it was already hot outside I didnt like... at all. But an older ducati gets more hot except for the ball heating part. It had some very funny quirks that's true. I remember that when it was raining bad, I couldn't put it into neutral because than my starter motor would activate😅 still miss it after selling it in 2011

Fully understand the "cockpit aesthetics" point. I've got a shonky old 2003 GasGas trials bike, but it came with a load of red bling on it, and I've been turning the heads of stainless bolts on my lathe for it so they're tapered and shiney. Costing me nothing but it looks factory. 😂

Love that Kawasaki is reviving the Baby-sports bike. It's be nice if KTM followed up with a Baby V-Twin to mix it up too. Parallel Twins have to be up there with the most boring engine-config of all time. The baby-blade, zxr400 etc were what sold me on the whole sports bike idea as a youth, as anything other than an MX bike seemed either boring or petrifying lol

I have two Ducati and yes if you wear anything with Ducati branding you are spanking off you have one! I have a really Lairy one piece knee sliders the lot that looks like the ducks nuts when you're on the bike but it's like wearing Speedos at the beach, once you move a few meters from the beach you feel and look like you are walking around in your undies!
