Yes to drain excess water in the container. but few inches above from ground on the slide. so no bugs like grubs get in

How do you prevent soil coming out of drain holes in the bottom of the container?

Hi Veggie Garden, you can keep layer of pebbles to cover the draining holes, then cover it with potting soil. Sanju made holes above an inch on the sides of the containers. He didn't made one under the containers. This saved him from pest migrating from soil aswell not draining the soil/dirt from the containers. Hope this helps.
