they're definitely going to have to do SOMETHING new, they can't just be like "buy ACNH with slight improvements!" it might be cool to actually be able to choose whether you want to live in an island, a forest village or a city. with ACNH there are a lot of city items you can place but you're still ultimately on an island and there's a bit lacking in terms of pavement (always with the grass border, you can only build dirt cliffs instead of concrete walls, etc). i also thought they really missed the mark in giving us those 8 bridge designs but they didn't actually give us the modern or fairy tale bridges from new leaf. and being able to change the exterior of other buildings to match the style of those bridges was KEY - imagine you opt for the city life so all of your bridge options are cable suspension bridges, steel/concrete, GLASS? and then you can change the exterior of town hall, the nook store (which should be upgradeable to a department store again), the other shops, and your home/villagers' homes to match. i really want that modern house style from new leaf that looked like a whole penthouse. the tudor-style one we got with 2.0 is nice but it's still not urban enough.

They aren't real shops but with the DLC I changed the interior of the villager homes on my main island to make them look like unique shops. Like I turned Cookie's house to a bakery, Mac's house to a gym, and Sprocket's house to a jail. And gifted them the same outfits multiple times so they wear specific things to match like Sprocket always has on the security outfit and police cap lol!

I've been playing A LOT of new leaf lately, but by far the most peaceful animal crossing game in my opinion is Population Growing for the GameCube. If you haven't played it it's so hard to describe how amazing it is. And I promise it's not nostalgia, since I first played it in 2020

New Horizon's OST definitely had a more 'productive', like Home Depot kind of vibe to it for most of the tracks (fitting the theme of the game), which I did not mind for the most part; it grew on me as months went by. But I do agree that more 'peaceful' music would definitely be welcomed.

The mini games were sooooo much fun. I was so disappointed when mini games weren’t introduced in NH even with the addition of 7 players allowed at your island at once. Why have anyone over at all if we can’t do anything?

I don't think it's very likely they'll bring back the meeting up with strangers thing because it's "dangerous", and I say that as someone that wants it too because no irl friends and only one friend I met in NL. As for minigames, I'm hoping they'll give us a island like the one in NL where we can not only do tours, but we can decorate it with furniture.

For me, the next Animal Crossing would be perfect if they expand what they have done with this one. They just need to return absent features from previous AC games like a multiplayer island and more functionality on items like the ones that allowed to play retro games or vehicles being abled to be used in a simple way like the Pokemon games. A bigger Island, with more freedom to modify like doing caves and more floors and being able to put items in more angles as well as giving much more personality to Villagers and random events would pretty much do the perfect game for me. I don't need better graphics either, I prefer that they focus on a flawless performance.

I honestly appreciated the spread out updates instead of releasing all content at once. It allowed us to get the game when we needed it most when the world was hectic and the updates also reignited the fire from burnout and kept people from spoiling everything on Twitter by day three.

i appreciate spread out updates especially for events so it doesn't get spoiled ahead of time, the problem with this game is it felt incomplete and the updates were pretty much all just content that came as standard in the previous games. at the start of the game we didn't have diving, gyroids, the cafe, even ART. WE DIDN'T HAVE ART?! soo many classic furniture series and items are missing too, and a lot of characters feel a shell of their former selves, like tortimer, cyrus and reese, etc. acnh definitely has the best improvements in customisation features but its missing a LOT of iconic aspects, its a step forward and some ways but a step back in a lot more. i still love the game but i do miss how much more there was to do in new leaf as well as the personalities of the villagers from older games

I wish in the next game for the town to continue changing around you even as you don’t play. In earlier titles, villagers moved out on their own. If you went away, they would go away too. Bedhead wasn’t insta-fixable. Weeds overran the town. Life went on without you, which is something that New Horizons really doesn’t convey well at all. Villagers are all stationary and won’t leave unless told for example.

I’d love for terraforming to be kept so we can make amazing islands. I just wish it wasn’t so tedious. If they could make it easier somehow, that would be great. Like maybe we had an app on the phone where we can draw in cliffs on the map where we want them, or water. But we still have the option of the terraforming we have now so we can remove or add blocks whilst working on an area. And maybe have different sized brushes, like the custom design interface, just to make it a bit quicker

With the introduction of terraforming and outdoor decorating, there’s no need to have the starting point be anything other than an empty plot of land surrounded by water. Pushing players into a designated island theme from the get go will put a lot of people off. Especially if it would take a lot of work to remove all aspects of jungle.

I would love for it to feel more like a life sim. Much better villager interactions, maybe sub personalities under the main categories to really make them feel like their own unique person (like jock A types love working out, jock B type are big sports fans, jock C types are always challenging you to competitions ect). Really make us care about the personalities of the villagers. Give us more daily tasks, jobs, and goals. New horizons was a design game, I want the next one to be a sim.

One of the only things I’d ask for is more control over certain things in your island, for example. Being able to choose characters outside of your villagers- like they made Harv’s co-op, but if we got to choose who we wanted to set up a stool and being able to make the news broadcaster somebody other than Isabelle if we wish, just little things like that would make so much difference. Also, I like how it’s mandatory to have 10 villagers but they should make the next game so we can decide to have between 10-15. There’s definitely enough room so…

I'm at a toss up on when to expect a new mainline AC game. On one hand NH was really popular so we can imagine that they might want to build on that success and release another game relatively soon. However Nintendo has been really really slow with their biggest IPs. They've been riding their last Mario Kart and Legend of Zelda games for 5 years, with the former only having slight updates and no sequel in sight, and the latter having some spin off/remake games but still no word on BotW2. I can see them letting NH last for a long time before putting out anything new. I do expect the next game to rely on a new "gimmick". NH was all about the "island getaway" and the outside terraforming. The next one might have even more customization options (in terms of designs and stepping away from the "island" theme) and could even rely more on things like cooking and farming. I bet there are things they're noticing players want but couldn't add for NH that they're taking into account for a new game.

I've only played WW, NH and a little of Pocket Camp, but from what I've seen, a combination of all three would be the perfect game, of course with more stuff for the museum, all the shop upgrades and fruits/crops. Getting all the flowers in every color (except the lily of the valley, obviously) would be a great addition too.

Personally I'd also like to see new trees like willow trees, and bring back some more of the fruit trees. I'd also like to see fox villagers. I know we have Red but I think fox villagers like the fennec fox and chameleon villagers would be cool. And the ability to move resident services with a mayor's office and villagers can put requests in for various things. Maybe up the amount of items you can order from 5 to 10.

I think one of the reasons it sold so well, besides AC being a loved franchise, is the time. Most people were locked up at home, and I think that really helped sales. I think it's a lovely game (it's one of my absolute favorites), but I don't think it would've sold as well if the world hadn't been stuck at home

I love the game there is a couple of things I think would be great in the game would be to have interactive pets because they have stuff like pet beds and bowls but not pets to use them and have a decorating mode for outside on your island just like it is for paradise planning that would be great maybe make your own island bigger so that you could do more things and have more villagers but I do like the game very much

I want : 1. To be able to make more than one island even if it’s some kind of dlc but one that’s basically Start over on a new island but keep your main island dlc. 2. Be able to interact with items like the plaza rides like go on them. Be able to ride the cars for real or use the yacht or boat. 3. Play the instruments in a way that when you click on it it opens a menu like the theme song for your island you can set to each instrument so when you hold it or in the games case click on it.. it plays the actual song not just random notes. 4. Deeper interaction for villagers. 5. Be able to move the camera around and set up the island outside the same way inside. (As mentioned in the video). A full on first person mode would be cool and may add immersion. That’s all I can think of as of now but I’m sure there is more I can think of.

One thing that I would want is more interactive-ness amung the items. When I first saw you get a pool in ACNH I was freaking out. I was hoping it would be more like the amenities in Pocket Camp where the villagers actually interacts with them. Sitting on the edge with their feet splashing in the water, lying on the floats, etc. The workout equipment (I’m big into working out IRL), I would love to be able to sit on the exercise bike, use the tredmill, etc… even thought they could make a mini game out of these small things. Also would like the villagers to actually use the items MORE around the island, I’ve made plenty of functional areas in my island including a cafe, concert stage, arcade area, pool area, gym etc…. I never see my villagers walk by these areas or interact with them. They are on the second tier of my island, so maybe that’s why 🤷🏼‍♀️. Even though the villagers are more lively in ACNH, I just want them to actually spend time in the areas that I spend hours of my real life making. It would make it feel more worth it. ALL that said! ACNH is a great game, and I know I will sink countless hours into the next one whenever it were to come out! Especially since I’m graduating college this May and will a bit more free time. I’ve already sunk 1700+ hours into ACNH and I still log on ever now again to try to collect certain clothing items added in the 2.0 update including the backpacks. That’s honestly the main thing that keeps me coming back to my island, also I genuinely LOVE my villagers on my island, so there’s that too. Thanks for reading my long comment, I talk a lot, but have lots of ideas and opinions of how they can improve ACNH as a whole and make the next AC even better!

I definitely agree with your thoughts on how updating should work in the next game! and as far as graphics and mechanics I don't see how or why they'd need to change it (besides making terraforming less terrible and frustrating, LOL). I also was worried when ACNH came out that it would be the last one because it seemed to do EVERYTHING players had ever wanted to do in previous AC games and more, but after it being out for 2 years we now see many more opportunities for growth. I'm also certain they wouldn't lose out on the opportunity to make at least a couple more main series games because almost everyone I know would immediately buy them no matter what. The free camera would be a great way to add a lot more depth to the next game, and I'd like to see more furniture and design item based updates and a greatly expanded AI dialogue and relationship system. Those features alone would set the next game FAR apart from ACNH, though I have no idea what setting it would be placed in. Islands are a concept very unique to ACNH and I can't see them reusing it, nor going back to the old town set up (tho I wouldnt mind an ACNH meets old style AC game remake/crossover!!!)

I'd love to have the ability to increase the number of residents. Also, I enjoy hearing the residents sing but the game music seems to make it a strain to hear. Separate sound controls would be sweet! 😋

The smell of a basement mixed with AC rain still takes me way back fishing for bells, now I do it because it just opens this amazing door to nostalgia. There's nothing I enjoy more than fishing in the rain in game and exploring around

I’d Love to see the next animal crossing allow you to be truly creative! I want to be able to build my OWN house! And structures! Rather than just paying a mortgage for a standard model that everyone who has the game has… They could make you have to buy a permit to build say a house, but you’re restricted to like a 5x5 space and single story, with loans that you have to pay off. This was my biggest disappointment when I got ACNH, then again when they brought out the update that allowed you to change villagers homes which are very restrictive in options… As well as actually being able to design and build items, again rather than just having the same things as everyone else. Speaking of better online experience, how about being able to have other PEOPLE live on your island!? Not just someone else who has a profile on your console. You can work together to design spaces, gather materials and build it all! A bigger island would also be great!

Would be kinda fun to have a skyscraper with apartments, shops, restaurants, gardens and cultural experiences all in one building. Instead of terraforming we could make wonka-esque elevators to get floor to floor or neighbor to neighbor and the building dwellers (villagers) could apply to open shops or businesses. Nook would be the owner and we would be a building manager

I hope In the next game you can have more than one island/town. That would really help for people with larger families who all want their own individual spaces in the game. Maybe like a max of 3 diff towns or islands?

A feature I think would be interesting would be to add like a hub island. Not like in the way that archipelago is. I really like the city in city folk, maybe something like that, but make it that you could maybe interact w other players there. Like how your island is uninhabited before you get there, the hub island is already developed and you go there for like special shops and/or mini games, and you can see other players there.

It sounds cheesy but I think a balloon popping mini game would be fun, use the slingshot to shoot down balloons to win points to buy goodies. It would be really cool to have a traveling caravan style carnival roll through your town/island or even on Harvs island. Each season you could add a few specialty mini games with the normal ones, like bobbing for apples in the fall or a snowball fight with (sort of like my time at Portia vibes who honestly did good with the mini games per season) rings tosses, stuff like that. Even maybe even compete against your friends or villagers (like maybe 4 can compete w each other at a time) I’m someone who constantly resets my island for nostalgic reasons, sometimes about the beginning game and getting things going. I never did it as much as other games like Harvest Moon and Star Dew because there was always something to keep upgrading or keep repairing, you unlock new dialog and back stories with characters you’ve bonded with. It’s too late for New Horizons to add it but I hope they pull off the nostalgia vibes similar to harvest moon, roll in, towns decrepit, farms need up and running, things need repaired. Would be a good way to keep the crafting and soft vibes but adding more depth. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talks.

I totally agree! They should just keep adding to the game. One thing I want?? I want an indicator if I own an item or not. I have a locker outside Able Sister’s so I can check what I already have at home. It should be easy enough because they put a check mark next to DIY recipes you’ve made, not to mention already keeping track of bugs, fish, etc. Nothing I hate more than getting home and seeing duplicate clothing items! 🤬

1. Yes. Give us bat villagers and fish villagers (something like Zoras). I think the dodo would have made an interesting species and gets my vote for NPC species to be made into villager species. 3. It'd also be nice to have the rest of the prior villagers, not already in, come back. 4. I wish we have enough villagers to fill in the gaps so they every species has at least one villager of every personality type without resorting to Amiibo. 5. Through bells or Nook Miles, give the player the opportunity to be able to change the island and player names.

I agree with what everyone wants but a thing I would really love is for the animals to be more interact-able and actually feel like they are really wanting to be you friend and stuff and play and do stuff with you as if another player was controlling them,I want to also be able to ride stuff without having to only click a button for it to move when I want to be on it

As someone who played the first animal crossing on the GameCube i miss so many characters! They should bring back the fortune fountain, the police station, and the mail building! Also tbh I preferred the train so much more than the airport. I just loved the pixely look so much and not that acnh isn't fantastic and so fun I just miss the old game

For the next animal crossing game, I want: - The old villagers back. I love ACNH, but man, the villagers have no personality. At all. I don't even talk to them most of the time, because the dialoge is so boring and dull. It just repeats, it's always the same and it just takes the joy of talking to them. I also want. - have more things to interact with. Like, a ball you can kick around. Maybe the villagers could also interact with it like in Animal Forest (I believe it was Animal Forest, I am not sure though) -old tortimers island back. The Mini games were so fun. I loved them. I also loved the time I spend with my friends and meeting new friends. I wish they would've brought that back in ACNH, it would have been really nice to just meet new people and play with them, visit their Islands ect. I definately would have enjoyed that. - Resetti back. I remember how terrified I was of him as a kid playing ACWW. But, man, I miss this dude. I already missed him in New Leaf and now he just kind of disapperead. Sure, you sometimes see him at Roosters, but not that often. I know, it wouldn't really have made sense putting him back in ACNH, auto-save and all, but I really hope the somehow bring him back. And I know he probably is the voice that teleports you back to your home when you call emergency service, but we don't get to see him. Maybe they could bring him back in future games and also still have Auto save. Maybe he could say stuff like "You're lucky you don't need to save, but don't think I won't get on your nerves whenever you don't save." Or "Back in my day, you HAD to save, or else all progress would be lost" and then you'd have to say sorry. Or write a letter to him. - Kappt'n's personality back. I recently played ACLGTC and I genuinely enjoyed the busrides to the city. He gave me a kind of fatherly vibe tbh (but this can also be because the german translation could be a bit different) and in ACNL je gave me a kind of flirty vibe. I loved that, so when it was announced that he cwould return in ACNH, I was very excited, then utterly disappointed. It seems like he has no personality. -more things you can do with villagers. Play more games, or even have the option to always play games with them. I would also really love to organize some villagers birthday. It doesn't have to be for every villager, maybe just the villager you have a certain, i'll just call it, "friendship rank" with. This is all just my opinion, btw.

I wish there was an online play option where you could visit an island or something and meet other players. Because unless you know people who play the only way to make new friends in game or play with others is to go off platform to places like twitch, discord, Facebook, etc. And I think it would be really nice to have a place in game where you have an option to meet other players. But i do get how its a lot easier said than done 😅, would be an amazing addition tho!

It is the thing that I love the most about this game. I don't really care about the inter action with the villagers. But I love doing stuff with my Sister and my Neice and if they had mini games that I could play together with them, then I would be very happy.

Id like the flying time be only 5 to 10 sec & when we are on an island when someone is flying in or out only the director of that island should be notified i lost a fish on another island was so excited but when the person arrived the fish was gone. The camera can go 360, homes can be placed sideways so their front doors are facing each other like a real street, id love to see some sloth characters. Multiplayers nit just tag alongs, so we can intract & do things together
