The Next Craze In DESK STOMP???

The click the drag, the click and drag again. Left hand doing nothing.... whats with these opposable thumbs? This is my theory why Desktop Stompboxes (Deskstomps as I call them) have become so popular amongst producers and composers not just guitarists. This week I look at the / merisus latest incarnation. Bang for buck or too big for its boots?

Sounds amazing. Price is steep!! All the latest current offerings seem expensive to me. That or I am out of reality. I mean you can get an ASM Explorer or new Freak for the same price to put it in context. This is a serious sound effects monster though and looks great with the screen. Gives most synths a run for their money.

Ha! I love some of those old racks you referred to. That horrible sound you referred to was on soooo many hits in the late 70s, 80s, and 90s, some of those patches will put you in a different time. And the sound of the different boxes themselves are sometimes gritty (low bit) or clean (like TC and Lexicon), but they all have their own sound. And now they are cheap and plentiful on the used market. Inspiring to me, but who am I? You should just keep on buying new kit and hope for some character, nothing to see here (he he he).

Strymon Timeline user here. Do you think Meris LVX is technically and musically better than Timeline in every aspect, and could it fully replace it? Or is it worth the money putting both LVX and Timeline in the chain? Interested in opinions for both studio and live performance workflows. Thanks!
@wireheadmusic2284
@wireheadmusic2284 Жыл бұрын
It depends. Got mine for a few days, love it, but it's really complex and goes deep, much deeper than a Timeline (i also had a few years ago). Add a Strymon Nightsky to the LVX with a deeper ability to go more into details than in the Nightsky, add a looper and you got an impression. Probably even this description is not enough ;-)

How are you Christian? I'm actually really upset by what's happened to you at Spitfire, and the way they just seemed to have air-brushed you out of the company you co-founded is despicable. Seeing recent releases from Spitfire, without you as part of them, has left a very empty feeling: this now feels like a soulless company who can turn their back on one of their own so readily, and seemingly just move on. I've also been disappointed by the lack of outrage from the community who seem to be able to overlook shameful behavior on their doorstep, as long as they can still get their hands on the next shiny thing. Hoping 'what comes around goes around' is true in this case, and both you and Spitfire get what is deserved, even though those are 2 very different things right now.

The Rhodes. . . My favourite sound of all time, loved it since childhood. I even entered the competition to win the Mk8, but not for me, it was for my Son (an incredible musician - I would say that I know, but lots of people say the same : ) So why destroy that beautiful sound like that? This ‘paid’ demonstration and promotion should be carried out on a different instrument, maybe a modular analogue system which are always screaming out for delays and loopers . . MERIS, if you’re listening, just saying. P E A C E : )

Hi Christian, because of privacy reasons I do not verify my phone with discord. Just reading. Just to notify for shure I do not upgrade my Kontakt, just to support the marketing of Native Instruments. And I will not use and install just the player. To get the new payed recommended libaries to run. My personal experience is that I use such libaries very rare. Please provide the paid libaries for users that do not upgrade their Kontakt. 6.4 is the realy end of compatibility. With my system and for shure I do not upgrade my Komplete 13 collectors edition for the support of Native Instruments marketing idea to let Artist pay double. I did downgrade my Kontakt to 5.9. and delete all extensions that I realy do not need. I guess I am not the only one that thinks similar. If you offer paid libaries to support artists than please care for a way that I first have to pay 500.-€ before I can support buy and use their Libary. Thanks for understanding and not leaving the spirit of Pianobook.

Lovely pedal. But very expensive. It’s hard for me to justify this cost over a software plug-in and a midi controller. I mean, on this device you would be fiddling with a tiny screen to make presets. An iPad or a laptop seems easier and more powerful. Am I missing something?
@AmiliaCaraMia
@AmiliaCaraMia Жыл бұрын
It depends on whether or not you really dig the sound of the pedal. Software is never going to be a 1 to 1 comparison to a pedal. That's not to say plug-ins are better or worse, just a different sound. If you like the sound, go for it. Never complicate it more than that 👍 In terms of convenience, I actually find it convenient in a sense that if I mix w/ a pedal, I have to commit and print the sound. It's over and done and I can move on. I guess in a sense it's all down to workflow. Cheers.

Highly disagree. Plug-ins are good but there’s a lot of hardware out there that just hasn’t been turned into a plug-in and just doesn’t have the amount of tinkering sound design that a plug-in interface has. There’s something satisfyingly visceral about touching hardware like this.
