as a bears fan i can't help but feel a sense of impending doom. this situation is all too familiar for chicago and i pray the cycle of poverty is broken. however, karma is very real and the way things ended with fields was disgraceful, kid never got a fair shot. it seems like the locker room is struggling to cope with losing their leader who they loved going to battle for every single day. i hope im wrong and will support caleb (or anyone that plays for the bears). but im extremely nervous and feel gutted right now. i feel like we made the wrong choice

All the way back to at least 1995 a heisman winning QB hasn’t won the Super Bowl. If you want your team to win super bowls don’t draft a heisman winning QB. Also only 1 out of 38 QB’s selected in the first round won the super bowl *since 2011. That was Patrick Mahomes and he got to sit for a year behind Alex Smith. In my opinion don’t draft a QB in the first if you want true success (Super Bowls)

Except mahomes did have a good vet to learn under and a great coach to help him along with not that bad of a team to compete with. While Caleb will not have that vet, that guy at head coach, the media is more of a problem than a solution in places like Chicago and New York. I thought the echo of “greatest since” was in this order… Trevor Lawrence, Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning and John Elway. Remember Mahomes was such an under the radar prospect that a QB needy Browns team went with the consensus top prospect in Myles Garrett who has done nothing but live up to the hype, finally got his 1st DPOY and is still a ‘disappointment’ bc he was picked ahead of possibly the GOAT QB. I even remember as a Bears fan in 2017 going in with the 3rd pick being cautiously optimistic that they would draft Watson not knowing if his college success would translate to the NFL. Well it did, sorta, then his off the field stuff derailed his career and now he’s teammates with Garrett. Oh and we all know what my Bears did, got spooked that “humble Camry driver” Mitch Trubisky would be taken ahead of them that they traded up and then put him in a situation to fail. In the words of George W Bush… “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, well, won’t get fooled again”. Ironic that the choices this year are: 1) Guy who put up video game numbers and won big games in college in Daniels(like Watson), 2) another UNC QB in Maye(like Trubisky), 3) a really good college QB who never won a big game in Williams(like Mahomes) 🤔

I wish Justin wasnt dealt such a terrible hand coming into the league: [Long Comment] *Year 1:* -Hotseat coach/GM -Zero reps with First team offense -Terrible offensive scheme/playcalling by head coach (Record 6-11) *Year 2:* -New Coach/GM -Torn Down roster - Lowly Offensive weapons (N'Keal Harry, Byron Pringle, D. Mooney [Best WR]) - Big Roster Dump on defense (to clear bad contracts from previous GM) -Traded #1 pick (Record 3-14) *Year 3:* (slight improvement) -Rebuild year w/ couple weapons -Added help from defense -Gave away 2 or 3 games in the 4th quarter (Record 7-10) *Year 4* (offseason) -Panthers gave us #1 pick again -Justin had up and down year ->Got banged up, missed 4 games -incomplete evaluation -The new GM wanted to pick his own QB, because Justin didn't fit the timeline and had inconsistent QB play. All that brings us here to probabiy picking Caleb Williams. He's got some talent, but nobody is Mahomes. He's coming into a team that COULD of won 9 or so games last season. Not a terrible spot for a #1 draft pick to land in. Our GM has cooked up even MORE talent on offense (Allen/Swift/Everett) probably gotta trade that #9 pick tho. Even though we let bro go for a ham sandwich and a Powerade. Poles "did right" by Fields sending him to a SOLID organization. I'll always be a fan of bro. Knowing he had his flaws and was dealt a raw deal, I have faith he's gonna be fine in Pittsburgh. Once a Bear, always a Bear ✊🏽🐻⬇️

Interesting how the position evolves over time. I go back to mid-70s NFL when there were literally no quarterbacks with the supernatural athletic gifts of many of the young guns nowadays. It would take a couple of decades to see a few like that: Randall Cunningham, Steve Young...Then a few more in the 2000s -- Steve McNair, Vince Young...Then more and more each decade -- Mike Vick, Kaepernick, RGIII, Russ, etc. -- up until now, when we have a steady half-decade of Mahomes, Lamar, Jalen Hurts, Bryce Young (yup, I included him), Justin Fields, Tua, Josh Allen, Dak, Deshaun, Justin Herbert. They pay Kirk Cousins $180 mil because he's an amazing athlete...I think Dwayne Haskins probably would have been at least that good. I just can't get over how good the position has gotten just in the time I've been watching.
