@@JLacay ngl I thought one piece was way more dense than it was before actually reading it because someone used the example of senor pink. But turns out only a couple characters get backstories shown. Which is fine, there should be a focus. The only thing that was jarring was Law's backstory was pretty long then pink's was short, same with pudding and even Sanji's extended backstory. There's no easy way to fix that tbh. But it just feels off.

Man, it's crazy to think about, but this video makes me realize that Caribou could end up gaining notoriety thanks to Luffy the same way Buggy did thanks to Shanks. Which is funny, because I remember thinking years ago that it would be kind of funny if there was someone on the crew (or at least accompanying them) who hated Luffy, but he was oblivious to their disdain, and they end up having the same relationship with Luffy that Shanks has with Buggy.

He absolutely hates Luffy at times, his relationship with chopper was hilarious, the dude was an even better straight man than zoro; and I think it would have been such PHENOMENAL salt for him to be named a straw hat by the government. Oda made it way too obvious. Did ANY of the other straw hats, for the entirety of their panel time, ever relentlessly say they were going to join the crew? Not that I fan find. Only Yamato did this. It’s very uncharacteristic of strawhats when they join. Also, her whole entire arc was that she thought she was Oden and tries to parallel him. Although Oden was happy to go out to sea, when he returned and saw the state it was in, he stayed and did whatever he could to help save his people. Yamato realizing that was her arc, and what made her stay. I thought it was well done.

Making carrot chief was a great political move. Because of that, the straw hats are friends to all of zou rather than just carrot and the chiefs. Plus her potential is easily higher than average, she was Pedro’s protege after all. We need to start thinking about the development of the grand fleet not just bolster the head ship.

Luffy doesn’t want territory, that’s too much responsibility. He wants friends who can handle themselves and even lend a hand. When Luffy becomes king, every one will be free. Global disputes will be like sibling squabbles rather than wars.

Thing is, while everyone wanted Bon Clay to join the Straw Hat Pirates, I always knew he wouldn't, because of this bit of background information I know that Eiichiro Oda like the performance of Bon Clay's voice actor, Kazuki Yao, so much that he designed the character of Franky specifically so that he'd be part of the main case, and why would Oda do that if Bon Clay was never joining the crew? Not that he hasn't earned the right to join even without that bit of information, but still, I always had that in the back of my mind whenever people kept bringing up that possibility... ...You know who I would have LOVED to see actually join the Straw Hat Pirates? Gaimon. His situation of being stuck in that treasure chest means his function and usefulness on the crew would be limited, but it would still be a funny and bonkers inclusion (not to mention give some meaning and point to that one-off Island of Rare Animals story), not to mention I would LOVED to see how he'd get stronger over the 2-year timeskip.

The bit about Foxy at the end I just recently finished the mini-arc where Foxy needed Luffy's help to get his former crew and ship back. I would've loved for Foxy not to join the crew, but form an alliance with the Strawhats and become a recurring character for the rest of the series. There could've also been a running gag where every time the Foxy pirates and the Strawhats work together, Foxy finds some way to turn it into a competition, which Luffy agrees to just because it sounds fun, and it basically almost always ends in a draw and they agree to have a rematch the next time they team up I feel like a BIG opportunity was missed there

In chapter 676 of manga Chopper gets a note saying DON'T DO ANYTHING it's been 400 chapters since then, but no clear indication who threw it to Chopper. Most likely it was Monet, but if so why would she do it?

As for the last straw hat, I'm of the opinion that it's either Yamato or no one. Why? Because right after Wano, Luffy revealed his true dream to the Straw Hats. Such a major reveal would only happen in-story if Oda think that the Strawhat Pirates are complete, and he doesn't expect any more members to join. But Yamato for one does know of Luffy's true dream thanks to Ace, so they have a work around this narrative indication of a completed pirate crew. Also since one of the major plot threads of Wano i.e.: the opening of its borders, we can expect a short return to Wano to fulfill that event and perhaps bring in Pluton into the narrative spotlight.

@Laquan Lucas Katakuri doesn't appear to me as someone who'd follow Luffy in that way. And it's just a way better in-character arc for Katakuri to go through. I think he's better off coming into his own with his siblings, who I'm sure also experienced a lot of abuse and trauma at the hands of Big Mum.

Good video. I guess having Bon Clay being an official SH wouldn't be a terrible idea, and he would also make a great spy for Emperor Luffy! However, if there are any other characters who also has the potential to join the crew, then I would like Carrot, Yamato, Vivi, and even Hancock as well to be on the Sunny since I believe we need more female characters to fight alongside Luffy before the series ends. Any, these are just my thoughts & opinions, I just wanted to know what you think?

Spoilers, so be mindful of reading this comment. I wholeheartedly believe that Lucci and Kaku have a high chance of being roped into the straw hats as one of those honorary nakama positions, akin to Momonosuke or Kinemon. If they wind up fighting against Saturn and having to escape with the straw hats, Saturn could easily turn around and abuse his powers as a Gorosei the way Nezumi abused his powers as a marine early on, and staple Lucci and Kaku to the straw-hats as having joined them. Hell, considering the chaotic nudges from the shadows approach the Gorosei have always taken to undermining threats, it's entirely possible Saturn sees the quartet of Luffy, Zoro, Kaku, and Lucci bickering and gets the upperhand directly from that. Going off that, using his position to force them to stay together and get up under eachothers' feet seems like a perfect plan.

- I was upset that Carrot & Yamato didn’t join after Wano where after Carrot was pushed aside & did not defeat Perospero I was sure that she wasn’t going to stay while Yamato I was only 90% sure they would join - I believe that in the epilogue of the series we will see the Starw Hats with new additions like Bon-chan, Yamato, Tama, Laboon, maybe Momo, Kin’emon, Vivi, & as a gag where someone will realize that Pandaman is on the ship

A funny example of getting a tattoo too early from another franchise is in Xenoblade 3 the characters all have a specific tattoo. So someone got that tattoo in real life. This was before it was revealed that the characters have a 10 year lifespan and the tattoo is meant to show how much time they have left

I think as much as we wanted Carrot and Yamato as strawhats. As the story is getting close to ending, Oda is focusing on having powerful leaders be allies to the strawhats. There's no doubt he wanted to keep adding more crewmates, but I think it just made less sense to do so. These characters might just make an appearance in the final fight.

I never got the whole Monet and Carrot for crew. Hell, I like Yamamoto A LOT, I didn’t want her to join though, but I was so confident she would. ( my reasons - Wano needed protection. Her character was far too strong/independent/selfishly Luffy like to join. Oda does more interesting things with side and background characters. But most importantly, my man Jinbe still wasn’t fking on board yet!)
