"The Next Ten Minutes" Surprise Proposal!

Nicholas Fox proposes to Mimi Meserve, inspired by "The Next Ten Minutes," from the musical "The Last Five Years" (also a major motion picture). Spoiler alert: she says yes!

Damn this was soo sweet. At first I thought that the surprise of the actual proposal is ruined with this kind of thing but that all went away when the singing started. It was so cute that she said do you expect me to sing. But damn she had a really great voice and the emotion of the moment made the song so powerful and real. Its a testament to how good the music is and it is really really amazing to see it used for something this beautiful and genuine. I may have to use this if I ever get married. Wishing these two a long full life in each others arms.

This was totally wonderful and sweet and touching and I totally cried throughout. I think this is like the dream for just about any singer and broadway lover for how they would love to be proposed to, absolutely. I was looking for covers of this song for the sake of variations on the original because I think it would make a beautiful live song as part of a wedding... and then I found THIS. The setup, their friends, the quartet, Nick's beautiful singing to her, and Mimi, despite being put on the spot, singing EVERY DANG NOTE PERFECTLY, even in the duet, unrehearsed, this is totally #CoupleGoals #SingerGoals, just fabulous. And it's so lovely to know that five years later, you're still together, she still wants to be your wife, and she did in fact, bear your child! Bravissimo, this whole thing is just MARVELOUS.

See whist I love the song and the idea of this, I don't think I would ever propose this way because their marriage breaks down quite fast and ends so horribly. However, nice voices and a very sweet gesture. (That one out of tune instrument makes me flinch though)

We are still together! Happily married for almost three years and welcomed our first child last summer! The song meant a lot to us as a couple, independent of the musical (though we are well aware of what the whole show is about). We felt the song really stood alone and would frequently sing it together. It was a total surprise when he proposed but since it was such a practice of ours to sing the song as a communication of our love there was no better way to become engaged (for us).
