I would be more inclined to get one if I wasn't locked into needing the headset that is sold with the treadmill. I would want to be able to use my Meta Quest 3 with it, be able to have it plugged in so I could play hours without my headset dying and maybe a way to also enable the controllers to be kept charged too if you have the rechargeable setup with those.
@wishbonethedog110822 күн бұрын
i love the design of this treadmill, but i really wish you werent locked into buying it WITH a pico headset. Id love to be able to purchase the treadmill itself and use it for pcvr. If that is something they would be doing in the future i would purchase it instantly once they did, but i cant justify paying for a headset i do not need, and i do not care for their "ecosystem"

Gotta agree. They really shot themselves in the foot with that one. There should be an option to buy the unit standalone. Would be cheaper that way too.

Omni WAS neat... but forcing it onto a VR headset like that makes it far less interesting for all the people who already have a VR headset. That seems like such a bad move on their part. ALSO, they need to make it so that you can prop it upright when not using it. You can take the arm and step off, but because of the piece sticking out the back you can't easily put it vertical, they should have put the wheels on that part and some kind of stand. Otherwise you are stuck with this big thing stuck taking up so much floor space, maybe you could store it under a bed but it still feels cumbersome to move it around.
@TheAegisClaw22 күн бұрын
This is really cool, far too big for my little house, but glad it exists.
@jaybratt22 күн бұрын
Me too. The home studio got VERY full when a VR treadmill was in there. At least it has wheels so you can store it easier!
@virtualjoker903622 күн бұрын
They definitely need that option to allow other headsets, because headsets will come out every year pretty much and being tied to that headset will keep me waiting for now, but the whole system looks really nice and the CEO seems like a cool dude.

I was supper excited about saving up to get this, but if I can’t use it with my own headset or Steam games then there’s no point. I thought it’d be cool to literally walk around in, say VRChat, while exploring worlds. Would be great exercise. Oh well. I’ll wait.
@shawnritter418321 күн бұрын
I have an original omni, and I am very excited for the potential of VR treadmills. Unfortunately, the original omni drivers were very limited, and their system was really locked down. It was very evident they intended the hardware to be used in their arcades and only in their ecosystem. I wound up using Natural Locomotion with Vive trackers to get my omni usable with most SteamVr games, and I recently picked up a Kat Loco S that I still need to test with the omni. This new Omni one looks really interesting and it looks like their drivers have improved quite a bit, but I'm still disappointed they are locking down their ecosystem so much. I would absolutely love for them to release more generic pcvr or standalone drivers so that their treadmill can be used with other headsets or stores. If they open up their system, I would be very interested in getting a newer system that has proper movement tracking.
@shawnritter418321 күн бұрын
It makes sense that they are including the Pico headset though. For them, it makes support a lot easier if there is only one set of components they need to test and implement. It also lets them really curate the experience and implementation of their system. Which again makes it easier for them to deal with enterprise/commercial customers.
@shawnritter418321 күн бұрын
Also, when re-watching this video I noticed they are using the Pico 4e, so face and eye-tracking is exciting, and that does look like a decent headset.

honestly wish they would release this for meta and also be able to have all the games on one store instead of having multiple stores
@Lewps264-Racing22 күн бұрын

Thanks for the great look at this, I love your videos! I do disagree with them including the headset, and I wasn’t sure why you told him that was “smart”. 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t mean to criticize, but I do wish you would’ve told him that selling the treadmill separately would sell more units than including a headset most VR gamers putting up for a treadmill likely do not need or want. Maybe you actually think it’s a smart idea, but I’m guessing you were just trying to be polite, which I get. They invited you there to get an awesome inside look.

It is indeed cool but I see enough problems to not buy it. 1- I don't want the pico headset, I got my Q3 and my PC, I don't want or need another headset. I would rather get a package without it. 2- space, I really like that is easily disassemble, it just needs a built in way to store it vertically when not in use. I love to see that there's innovation in the space, I hope it keeps evolving to the point there's more viable solutions for people in smaller spaces

The fact you have to use their headset is what kills it for me at least. I have a quest 2 and 3. I own 200+ games on the quest store already! Plus 200 or so on steam! Would rather just buy the Omni for a fraction of the the cost, cause you know that 900 is factored in! And then use my quest! The idea its tied to any HMD is just icky! Would always feel like I'm locked in to using that HMD...

Still only concentrating on a few games made for it and not Steam. They said maybe an emulation for VR tinkerers? No thanks. The Katwalk supports all Steam games out of the box. I don't understand why they don't focus primarily on Steam native support. Also, the Pico is already outdated as a VR headset. The Katwalk you can use any headset. The Omni is just so limited...and way more expensive than the Katwalk.
@jaybratt22 күн бұрын
In essence, it's the difference between building a hot rod in your garage and making it what you want or buying one off the show room floor. It's just your preference to how you want to partake in a VR treadmill; some people like to tinker and modify, others want a fully plug and play experience
@justaguydoinstuff22 күн бұрын

The omni just makes me sad when i see it being 3 inches taller than the max (max is 6'4" and i am 6'7" and 10lbs heavier than the 250 max rated). If someone comes up with a open source software with foot tracking for the movement i would just build my own but until that day...

The most advanced consumer VR treadmill? LOL ok...I think Katwalk c2+ is more advanced. The question from otter had me rolling. She has a kat at home and her question was "What game is the best workout?" The price, the headset, and how long this technology has been out is a huge turnoff. This is the Pelaton model that is doomed for failure.
