Just a small point. You can absolutely walk around the crib. The trophy room is upstairs and is the best bit of the game. Collecting all the trophies is great fun and genuinely challenging.

Been playing this game now for 18 plus years. Just love going back to it. Playing the NFL 2K series for over 22 years. 2K really knew what they were doing and it was awesome to see what they could do year-to-year. This is one of my favorite video games ever and definitely my favorite sports video game. It's a shame that so many people have never experienced this game or that so many people have only had the mediocrity of Madden for do long and thinking that it is good and has just been accepted. I eagerly await whatever NFL 2K game 2K will release next year or 2024

It was crazy how 2k was only selling this for 20 bucks back in the day and madden was 50. Madden definitely got scared as hell could 2k would’ve definitely took over nfl video games just like they did basketball. Ea is just trash at making sports games

@@nickgavis0305 That is absolutely what happened. 2k made the game only 20 bucks and it was so much better than Madden but back then consumer information didn't spread as quickly and Madden was still the known brand so EA bought the exclusive rights to the NFL before there was enough of a following to have any sway in the matter, and of course the NFL being the NFL didn't really care so it sold the rights to EA.

to answer a question about who coaches coach you had, the VIP system tracks your play calling based on down, distance, pass vs run, etc. You could share this with friends so they could "play against you" in an offline setting. They also did this for each NFL coach at the time. Each team played differently based on the coach and their personal profile. it was a really cool feature.

Me and my brother would play a franchise together and game plan together on a game because this game was challenging for us ( 11 and 12 yes old). It's sad there are no good football games anymore.

If that's their only takeaway after watching gameplay of 2K5 then they're a lost cause, just let them play shitty Madden games if the only thing that matters is graphics. This game was fantastic. I remember thinking it was the wrong price when it was $20. I even told the young lady at Walmart the price was prolly wrong. It blew Madden out of the way and instead of stepping up to the challenge they monopolized it

They essentially ousted themselves by making it 20 bucks though, sadly. The NFL didn’t take too kindly to them lowering the price, and felt like their product was worth at least $50 so they told 2k to get lost lol. Also, Madden was in its prime at the time and more popular to football fans than 2k so that’s another reason they took their license.

NFL 2K5 is easily the best football game ever. Period. I spent time playing darts and paper football against the cpu. I once did a 15 year franchise with Ravens. Please do a series on this if you need a break from Madden while they fix their issues.

I don’t know if anyone has watched NCAA 14 football game recently which you can only play on the PS3 but this game gives me that same authentic vibe and the fluidity and the way the game just flows with all the different smooth animations you see every single play. Yes there is some problems with the game as it is very old but you just don’t see anything like that NCAA game from 2014 anymore and it needs to be addressed , I think that game was almost the perfect football game as it was so authentic and so fun to play it’s sad to say we’ll probably never see a game like that again.

If you didn't set your depth chart, 2k would place your starting QB there until you changed it. In 2k4, you had to be actually in game to change it while 2k5 updated that to something you can set prior to the game.

If you do a series in this, some little things to know: -Be extremely careful with the player prep, it is unforgiving and confusing -Mid 80s speed is pretty significant. Players can become hideously overpowered as you go above 90 -To navigate the crib, you have to go to the end of the hall and turn right with the d pad.

7:33 back when Ricky Williams was on the dolphins everyone was playing as them. I heard on ESPN that the Patriots went goal line during the game because the qb was terrible lol. I did that in an online game. Man I still remember that game. It was so much fun. The strategy worked. Score was in the 40s but I won by only 2 point. Came down to the wire too lol 2k5 was great

Nfl 2k5 is definitely in my top ten GAMES of all time. I played this from 2004-2015. Then just moved onto NBA 2k to scratch the itch...but I miss this and would spend HOURS in Franchise or editing player ratings/creating guys who weren't in the game during the 04 season who went on to become stars later like Tony Romo and Wes Welker. Also liked that you could edit the rookies before the draft in Franchise and sometimes you could find a stock photo that looked ALOT like the actual real-life player you wanted to draft &edit his name &stats to fit accordingly. This and All Star Baseball 2004 had the deepest franchise modes back then and I miss those days so much.

Also there’s an adjustment in the emulator so it shows full motion video of other teams highlights during halftime of your game. Its a really nice touch especially when you’re in the hunt for the playoffs.

Something to keep in mind with this game: it won’t let you switch some positions where you’d think it would make sense. For example, I drafted Polomalu and Sean Taylor but they were both listed as SS and it wouldn’t let me change either of them to FS

Just switch them in custom playbook. Or have no frees safety on team and when you play the back up SS becomes FS. But, Custom playbook is your best bet

Hey Cane just for the heads up on Franchise Mode; the progression in Franchise is very random. There’s no determination whether if a players stats will make him better or worse next year. There’s not a “potential” attribute as well. I drafted a CB in the top 5 and the next year his development went up to around 88, but his 3rd year he dropped down to about a 75, despite have back-to-back 8 INT seasons. Also, you’re probably better off just turning off Weekly Preparation as well, there’s really no clear cut answer on how to really make your players progress

In NFL 2K5, you'd only get screenshots of the game during halftime on the PS2 version, whereas on the OG XBOX, you'd get full video highlights.

To hot route before snapping the ball, you have to use the right analog stick by hitting left/right/upper left corner for a slant to the right side receiver/down right corner for a in flat to the left side receiver etc… and then the receivers icon of choice. And to pump fake you double tap the receivers icon idk why I just mentioned that 😂 I just LOVE this game 💯. But yeah to answer your question, that’s how you pretty much hot route. And in the gameplay settings, you have to turn on multiple hot routes to be able to use more that one hot route every play. By default the game only allows you to hot route One receiver every play

I've been playing an even more obscure game! Madden Football 64. The very first football game on the Nintendo 64. The game does not have official NFL teams. But has the player licenses from the NFL PA at the time. The teams are called their City names and they have their "general" colors. But it doesn't say "Vikings" or "Falcons". It says Minneapolis or Atlanta. Its quirky as hell but once you get used to it it's honestly my favorite football game ever made.

With kicking you can aim but you need to tap or hold the Left stick a bit to stop it from going right on its own but you will still need to time it because it will never be still since you will be sliding it slowly left instead.

You got to do a franchise on this! I think that everyone should figure out ways to support modders on these projects and stop dropping money into EA's pocket. If the money dries up then EA would be forced to fix their messes.
