The Ndebele spoken in Zimbabwe is 90% Zulu. DJ Sbu was in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe recently and he was speaking Zulu in an interview on a local radio station. The interviewer was speaking Ndebele. They could understand each other very well. Mzilikazi settled in Zimbabwe after fleeing uShaka. People think Ngunis only exist in South Africa. There are many outside its borders. Kudos for the narrator on pointing this out.

The ethic diversity of the Nguni peoples is always fascinating. The Xhosa seem to have had a tradition of accepting multiple-births (Ityala Lamawele). But, with the Ndebele, I haven’t been able to find anything concrete or direct on the matter. Some articles claim not all Zulu groups saw multiple-births as curses, though I’m unsure of the validity of such reports. 🤷🏾‍♂️ IDK. Jama kaNdaba spared his twin daughters (I don’t know the mother’s name) from such foolish persecution. One of them being the legendary Princess Mkabayi!

You mean only AmaXhosa are AmaNguni, the rest are just pretenders (AmaSwati, AmaZulu, AmaNdebele). You just exhibit the trait that some of Xhosa speaking people have, always want to be at the top, just like claiming that ANC was established by them and were the only ones responsible in bringing about democracy in South Africa. This video shows that it’s well researched and it looked into a group of people in a collective way, the was no need to seek individual Xhosa glory.

The Ngoni, AbaNgoni, Bakoni, vhangoni, are a kalanga group much like all other groups in SA. Vhangoni are a nation on their own, people of this nation have the clan name, mokoni, mungoni, mnguni. Vhangoni do originate in Northern limpopo that's true in fact 90% of vhaVenda clans are actually vhangoni they were called venda by an invading kalanga group called vhadzweda, vhaVenda means people who refuse to be conquered. There are houses which are not really of nguni origin but now grouped under them like the Khumalo (mantungwa=sotho origin), Zulu (AbaMbo) or Dlamini (Tembo=Ndawo/Ndawu origin). The name Sotho/Suthu was given to us by ngoni people, we called our selves Batswana children of Batswa/vhatswa, another khalanga group which dominated western Zimbabwe,Eastern Botswana and the lands between western limpopo and Eastern North West province, neighbors of the Batswa where vhangoni and vharonga/ Baroka. It was during apartheid when a section of Vharonga and vhatswa where classed together as Tsw-ronga or today known as tsonga. Most clans in SA are from mainly the four khalanga nations, vhaNdawu, vhangoni, vhatswa, vharonga/thonga(mthetwa.etc) kalanga is not a tribe as mentioned today, we never had a concept of tribe in Southern Africa, kalanga is a group of people from South East Africa, the east where the sun rises hence we say kalanga. We all make reference to that area as our origin as blacks in Southern Africa, we are from one branch hence the similarities in language, traditions and values. Today we are divided amongst tribes by Europeans, its sad to see hlongwani and molefe fight when these are both the children of kgwadi/Ngwani oa Tabane. Kekana and Magagula can't fight amongst themselves these are the descendants of Mthombeni ka Musi etc. So you see we are really one group of people which originally spoke one language but different dialects which eventually developed independently due to contact with other groups of people like the South Eastern abatwa/khoisan who mainly spoke in clicks or the western barwa/khoisan who mainly spoke in "G's" and "Kg's", but nonetheless we are one group of people.

We are the Singos you can check out the Singo Dynasty in Venda. The Singos had some pedi under them. They are the only group in SA that fought the boer using guns under Makhado.Singo=elephant trunk.Even the definition of VhaVenda is not clear.

I’m South African. Don’t think it’s real Nguni (South African ethnic groups)group language that the Ngoni people of Malawi speak. they don’t speak any of the languages the Nguni group of people of South Africa understand. Someone shared a song on here on KZbin(apparently a popular singer in Malawi) claiming same thing that they are singing iin Ngoni language if Malawi which is same as Nguni languages in SA and that language wasn’t under-stable to me or my Mum. My Mum Xhosa (paternal) and Zulu(maternal) and I speak and understand both Zulu and Xhosa because my Mum and maternal grandparents speak both these languages to us and I wrote both decently. So if I can’t understand them nor can my Mum, are they singing in a Nguni language…also Nguni isn’t a language in South Africa, it’s an ethnic group with a group of languages that fall within it but the languages vary…mostly can understand each other but the languages aren’t exactly the same

Thank you for your video. It is quite informative but also riddled with inaccuracies as most of the written history was written by colonizers. In "Indaba My Children" by Credo Vusa'mazulu Mutwa, the story of the Nguni People is told. We hear the story of Malandela the poet & the "little father" Bikizwe, the great migration south from the Land of the Great Lakes & the gradual division of the Nguni tribes as they came to forks in the road, sometimes quite literally. It contains many other great ancient stories too. There is also a whole continent full of stories, so you must come visit dear brother.

My clan as well as my family is the most senior house of the Nguni people. The original name was Koni which evolved into Ngoni as the language soften, then to the modern Nguni. Our place of origin is at Kgalakazi in West Limpopo, south Botswana about 900AD circa. A lot of people now called Pedi are actually of Nguni descent including the Taung, Tau, Pulane, Chatwe, Pai, Koni, Tebele, Laka, Ngwana clans. Nguni language itself is an admixture Tekela (known as isLala or siTungwa) based on the Old Sotho language and Zunda based on Kalanga or Kgalaka language which was a soft language without an 'R' sound and which used the word 'Ndi' for 'I'. The Nguni Kings Lists is as follows: Tungwa (lion, taung) Mvulana (Pulana) Ngoni (now Nguni) Malangeni (Mlangeni) Ngwana (Tshabangu) Langa (Sothole) Nkomokhabako Mhlanga (Sidwabasiluthuli) Musi Mntungwa (Ndlovu) Sikhosana (Lindamkhonto) Mwelase (Nongalo) Mlotshwa (Thumbeza) Mpangazitha Mdlani Lubololwenja (Lufenu) Ntombela Zulu (Mpofana) Nkosinkulu (Mamba) Ndaba Gumede Yeyeye Mnguni Luzumana Malandela Qwabe Ndaba (Zembethe) Gazu Mdladla - the last King (late 1600s). My family descend from Mdladla father of Mqeku (Mkhananda) Mhenqwa Ngobe (who was an old man during Shaka's reign and was granted the land left by Mzilikazi). Magamanxane (Singatha) Mhluzana Mtholi Khohlwangifile Muzikawupheli (my father)

Ngoni's house/capital was called Langeni in what is now Western Limpopo (Polokwane / Mbolongwane and Mokopane / Mgombane) region then called Kgalakazi (Kgalagadi, the place of hunger).
