If the NHL wants to build its business, especially outside of game attendance, it should invest in high resolution, high framerate cameras, and put together a fair priced streaming package. Having to subscribe to a handful of different services just to get my local team's games is terrible. The fact that the streams aren't 4K 60P (or even 120P) is terrible. Hockey is a super fast, super detailed sport. Give us a high quality way to watch outside of being in the arena.

I do agree that the NHL should invest in its TV broadcasts, even if it's just to a niche audience that can appreciate it. I appreciate the picture quality of MLB broadcasts on Apple TV, because the cameras and depth of field they use is just amazing. I get it isn't a cheap thing to do, but it is a differentiator and it makes the product look good.

Ottawa is a team that's doing it right this year. It's $35 to sit in the 300 level which I think is reasonable. Find a shuttle that leaves from a bar and goes to the game, that's cheaper than parking and a blast to ride with other fans. Been to two games already and I'll go to more for sure

Ticket prices are not conducive to take kids to NhL games on the regular. Kids are going to be the big drivers of future attendance. The average family can’t afford to take their kids to games as much as they would like. Unless that gets fixed NhL arenas will be filled with corporate folks and sponsors.

I used to watch the games on cable but the blackouts and the ridiculous advertising has gotten to be too much. I canceled my cable because half of what I paid for was to be advertised to about things I don’t have any interest in at all. 14k is a good crowd tho and if the arenas capacity wasn't pushing 20k no one mentions florida in a "bad" attendance conversation. Make smaller arenas the norm,that way trying to fill a barn isn't as noticeable. 15k should be the norm for most rinks. Also consider the other draws some areas have to compete in filling seats. The jets don't have anywhere near the competition that fl,tampa, la or even the ducks have.

I really hope this ubiquitous proliferation of gambling ads doesn't backfire. Gambling is a vice and one that can very easily ruin people's lives when it's as "normalized" as it has been in recent years. It's a clear indicator that the league is just like every other corporation who doesn't care about it's customers and their well-being. I'd love to see more pushback from the fans on this

The Blue Bombers attendance and viewership per game are dramatically outperforming the Jets, do you think it has any kind of influence on the situation in Winnipeg ? CFL playoffs are coming and Winnipeg is leading the league in attendance this year, it’s extremely cheaper and people are often underestimating the impact of it, similar thing happens in Montreal, if the CH sucks and the Alouettes are good suddenly the McGill stadium is a lot more crowded.
@darthvader3742
@darthvader3742 10 ай бұрын
I think it's due to being cheaper and the fact that the Blue Bombers are one of the best teams in the league. The Bombers have been to 3 straight grey cups and have won 2 and have built a team that's likely going to be good for many years to come. The Jets since 2018 have had their struggles, and their doesn't seem to be a plan for the Jets to be a top contender.

It will never catch up. And take note that baseball saw the declines in attendance caused by the "boring" nature of the game and took steps this year to speed things up and make the game more exciting.

I'm going to put forward the idea that empty seats and mediocre live fans also make for bad TV, which means either major US networks are always going to want games in Boston, Vegas, and Pittsburgh and/or demand lower rights fees. Also, attendance is down in most sports, in no small part due to the (real or perceived) expense of attending a pro game. NHL ticket prices are the least "fan-friendly" of the major sports not called the NFL (which is an event-based sport with only 10-12 home games a year). It really takes a commitment to put up upwards of $10k a year for an average pair of NHL season tickets, and a lot of competition for the $150 a pop tickets can cost on the aftermarket. That means when a team isn't somehow exciting its fan base, either with wins or stars or an overall experience, they're going to have problems.

it's unreal how networks will sacrifice the quality of their product just to slam more ads in. Theres SO many ads at this point you're never going to remember or even take notice of them.

True North has spent the last decade buying up real estate in Downtown Winnipeg one block at a time. A few months go they bought an entire mall on Portage avenue for peanuts. It’s like the Jets are just a front for a real estate business and I’m sure that keeps Mr.Thomson interested regardless if there bums in seats watching his hockey team.

Crazy, even on the secondary market, tickets are super expensive. Been scoping out Blackhawks tickets for the first couple months of the season and the cheapest tickets i can find on secondary market are like $90 a piece. I went to a game last year and better tickeets were $40 a piece.

NHL needs build dedicated outdoor rinks. They can put way more seating without roof. The rink is big so will fit more than NBA game. Outdoor games can fill a college football stadium. But of course only in the north where ice won’t melt easily.

I go to 2 games a year with my sister we usually split a large popcorn and that’s it unless we get food vouchers from her work and luckily living closer to the dome doesn’t cost to much extra if I need to cab or train

No sure how Season Tickets work for the NHL and resalers, but for my NFL tickets works, the teams gets paid by the season ticket then if you post them on the NFL ticketmaster resale site, then the team get a cut of the secondary market as well.

The economy is terrible in most places, people are strapped. Florida is an exception, their population is growing, especially with the tech relocations to Miami. Add in that a decent ticket to a game is a couple hundred bucks and a hot dog combo is $25, most people have no choice but to stay home.

Well it’s in Sunrise not Miami. I think Miami is capped out and more people are coming up to Broward because it’s a bit less built out as opposed to Dade.

@jacklong9619
@jacklong9619 10 ай бұрын
@@troysitko1274 depends where we’re talking about when we say Miami, Downtown is going to be slightly north of an hour, at rush hour it probably is more. If you’re talking NW Dade like Hialeah it’s probably closer to 30 minutes. Kendall and SW Dade is probably a bit under an hour. The big problem with that stadium is it’s harder to go East-West as opposed to North-South, especially in Dade. The wealthier towns (Aventura, Miami Beach) are over on the East by the beach. Growing up by Aventura it was easier for us to go to Marlins games at either stadium than go out to Sawgrass

It’s near impossible for me to afford to take the family to go watch a game . The closest market to me is Detroit and I’m an avs fan so I go see them when they play . After paying border tolls and getting 1 ticket , paying for parking and food/ beverage it’s almost $200 Canadian for just myself to go. I’m now add an extra $100 person for a ticket . I don’t see how people can afford 500-600 for a night out .

Digital ads are the one thing that I CANNOT live with. The rest is annoying, but those digital ads are a cancer to the game of hockey specifically. Its hard enough keeping the tracknof the puck, and although i dont have seizure issues, i still find them the wost new addition.

That's a problem I have with watching North American football (whether it's the CFL, NFL, or NCAA). A team will score a touchdown, they go to commercial break following the point after, come back for the kickoff, then go to another commercial break during the change in possession. What's the point in sandwiching a kickoff between two commercial breaks, especially if said kickoff results in a touchback?

I would much rather go to see the Abby Canucks instead of the Vancouver Canucks right now. I live about a 10 minute walk from the Abbotsford center. I got an 8 ticket flex pack for about 250. That's basically what I would have to spend to go to one Vancouver game
