If the NHL wants to build its business, especially outside of game attendance, it should invest in high resolution, high framerate cameras, and put together a fair priced streaming package. Having to subscribe to a handful of different services just to get my local team's games is terrible. The fact that the streams aren't 4K 60P (or even 120P) is terrible. Hockey is a super fast, super detailed sport. Give us a high quality way to watch outside of being in the arena.

The Blue Bombers attendance and viewership per game are dramatically outperforming the Jets, do you think it has any kind of influence on the situation in Winnipeg ? CFL playoffs are coming and Winnipeg is leading the league in attendance this year, it’s extremely cheaper and people are often underestimating the impact of it, similar thing happens in Montreal, if the CH sucks and the Alouettes are good suddenly the McGill stadium is a lot more crowded.
@darthvader374210 ай бұрын
I think it's due to being cheaper and the fact that the Blue Bombers are one of the best teams in the league. The Jets since 2018 have had their struggles, and their doesn't seem to be a plan for the Jets to be a top contender.

I'm going to put forward the idea that empty seats and mediocre live fans also make for bad TV, which means either major US networks are always going to want games in Boston, Vegas, and Pittsburgh and/or demand lower rights fees. Also, attendance is down in most sports, in no small part due to the (real or perceived) expense of attending a pro game. NHL ticket prices are the least "fan-friendly" of the major sports not called the NFL (which is an event-based sport with only 10-12 home games a year). It really takes a commitment to put up upwards of $10k a year for an average pair of NHL season tickets, and a lot of competition for the $150 a pop tickets can cost on the aftermarket. That means when a team isn't somehow exciting its fan base, either with wins or stars or an overall experience, they're going to have problems.

It’s near impossible for me to afford to take the family to go watch a game . The closest market to me is Detroit and I’m an avs fan so I go see them when they play . After paying border tolls and getting 1 ticket , paying for parking and food/ beverage it’s almost $200 Canadian for just myself to go. I’m now add an extra $100 person for a ticket . I don’t see how people can afford 500-600 for a night out .

I couldn't tell you the last ad I noticed. Programmed to block them out. Plus gambling is not advertised in most states yet

The “brought to you by ___” is staple in esports like red bull power play and prime gaming flawless, so I don’t see it going away.

Digital ads are the one thing that I CANNOT live with. The rest is annoying, but those digital ads are a cancer to the game of hockey specifically. Its hard enough keeping the tracknof the puck, and although i dont have seizure issues, i still find them the wost new addition.

Ads on the jerseys are something that's worse to me

I wouldn’t mind the Ads on Jerseys and Helmets if they were all either Black or White. To me, its should be like the Adidas or Reebok logos, I dont mind them being there but they shouldn’t look horrible and completely out of place

This isn't the NHL. This is the NAL (National Advertising League).

That's a problem I have with watching North American football (whether it's the CFL, NFL, or NCAA). A team will score a touchdown, they go to commercial break following the point after, come back for the kickoff, then go to another commercial break during the change in possession. What's the point in sandwiching a kickoff between two commercial breaks, especially if said kickoff results in a touchback?

I would much rather go to see the Abby Canucks instead of the Vancouver Canucks right now. I live about a 10 minute walk from the Abbotsford center. I got an 8 ticket flex pack for about 250. That's basically what I would have to spend to go to one Vancouver game

Take today for instance. Blue bombers who are on top of the league play at 6 jets who are rock bottom play at 9. Which one would you choose not being able to view both. Jets are not playing up to expectations.

I’m good with ads when they’re done right, I’m ok if there’s lots of ads. If they get tickets to be priced less so more people can enjoy the game live I’m all for it but the ads that ruin viewing need to be fixed for sure

I don't know how you would functionally change things, but damn I am getting exhausted of seeing advertisements EVERYWHERE.

Shannon, would you consider donating your tickets to your Abbotsford games?
